Converting Real Player files to .avi or quicktime or other files

Yes, you can. There are a number of ways to do this. My favourite way is to use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a> to capture the RM as a WAV. Then you need an MP3 encoder. A great site for encoders is <a href="http://www.mp3machine.com/">MP3Machine</a>.

You can not convert PLJ files to any other format.

The reason is simple - you get commercial songs for
free in the PLJ (PlayJ) format and small ads appear
on your screen while you listen.

The money from the advertising then pays the artists
and copyright owners for your free use of the song.

If they allowed you to convert your PLJ files to
another format then the artists wouldn't get paid.

As we get to download the songs for free legally
it's not unreasonable to see a few ads in return.

Even though you cannot convert playj files to waves, if you have a program like Total Recorder, you can record the songs while they play and you will have generated a wave file of a relatively large size. This can take hours though.

I know that from experience but I think it is worth the wait...

I strongly suggest Acid - it's not hard to learn and you can do some great stuff after just a little bit of practice.

No, I don't work for the sponsor, but I recommend Acid Music from Sonic foundry. I think they still have a demo version on their website, and they have inexpensive versions specifically for dance. I have no musical talent and am able to make music that is pleasing to me at least.

MIDI Timing

Look, you just set up an empty track to record (In stereo), ensuring that you select the audio driver, not the midi. Make sure that your pc volume control has the "midi" or "all" record selected, ensure that the metronome setting is off (or that will be recorded!) then hit the record button and there ya go!

This is not self evident and Cakewalk must be tweaked.

Essentally, you must first record the Wave tracks
within Cakewalk and then export them to disk.

Here are my notes:

1. You must be using a sound card that re-directs
your midi out to LINE IN. If your card does not
have this feature, connect LINE-OUT to LINE-IN.

Create two NEW Audio tracks:

2. Audio track#1 is left#2 IN
Audio track#2 is right#2 IN

3. Mixer Recording properties = Record and
LIne In and Mixer selected

4. Global Options Metronome OFF

5. Audio Options Record overwrite

6. ARM the tracks - Click on the R

7. Click on Record button
Just let the piece play. It will create your stereo
Audio track(s). You can also use Studioware to mix
the output to the new Audio tracks. (e.g. the LINE-OUT
goes to the LINE-IN).

TO SAVE AS A WAVE FILE

1. Highlight the track areas to be included.
2, Tools>Export Audio

Note that Cakewalk could have made this procedure
a lot simpler, but this actually produces a very
nice wavefile. The resulting file can be re-mixed
or burned to a CD.

Let me know the outcome

I do not agree

It depends on what soundcard you have, but on al lot of soundcards (sblive, sb pci64...) you just have to choose to record from midi or eventually from "what you hear". You have to be aware tthough that record levels and sources are selected ON THE SOUNDCARD MIXER and not in Cackewalk. So if you armed an audiotrack and hit the record button ANY source you have selected in your WINDOWS SOUND MIXER will be recorded. This goes for recording level too!!!
As for the export thing: When you recorde the two stereo trcks they are already 2wave files on your harddisk. More if you did some "testing". The problem of coerce is they are not combined into ONE stereotracK. For this you have to export them. Good feautere though, becouse you export all effects you have put on each INDIVIDUAL track too, aswell as mixing automation, equalising, muting panning ettc...

Rode Microphones

I hope to but a Rode Microphone for primarily recording vocals, however from time to time would like it to be able to double as an accoustic guitar mic/I'm assuming I'd get a better sound then my dynamic Behringer 2000XMS mics? Does anyone have a preference for the NT1 or NT2?

problems with quality of sound

We are very dissatisfied with quality of sound, especially drums. We make drumloops on our Fruityloops
We've got plenty of samples of different kinds, although we can not achieve a good final loops.
You know,the sound is not fat and real enough.
We wonder if we just only can't handle correctly
with that soft or is there any particular plug-ins,
tricks or anything? Please send us any usefull information on that issue.

You'll need to connect the audio out of your keyboard to the audio in on your sound card to be able to record the sound into Cubase. Then you'll need a joystick port to MIDI cable to be able to sequence your keyboard in Cubase VST. If you don't know how to use cubase then read the manual or search the web for tutorials.

soundblaster live recording problem(won't record in stereo)

My sound blaster for some reason won't record in stereo from the record in/line in. It seems to be mixing the left and right channels together, it's not just the recording but the basic throughput even for monitoring. I can hear the left channel fine and the right channel is a little lower in volume, when I record it there are two bars coming up for a left and right channel but they are both the same...

it's recording in stereo but it's mixing them to the center position. if something is in the left it comes out the middle of something is in the right it comes out the middle. I am using the right stereo cord in 1/4 in stereo and i checked it so don't suggest that...

also it is stereo coming out of the source i checked that so don't suggest that, I believe it has something to do with the Environmental audio drivers. I just want to be able to record stereo from my mini disk into my computer.

Please email me, and don't post becuase i never have time to check post boards and only enough to check my email. thx anyone.

All blank cd appear as audio cd's.

I am using a Mitsumi CDR on a 350 mhz. I installed
MusicMatch 5.0 on my system and since that time any
blank cd that I put into my cdrom shows up as an audio
cd. I have uninstalled MMJB as well as any cdr
recording software and still the problem persists.
I have attempted to edit any references to MMJB or to
easycd creator and direct cd out of the registry and
still the problem persists. Any suggestions. Help!

Hi;
i think i have the same problem. any blank disk
that i use with easy cd creator , shows audio cd.
i'm trying to find out what the problem is but with no success.
my cd recorder is sony crx 120E usb, i tried uninstalling , won't help .
if you did solve the problem please contact me.
