Could you give me some adresses of sites related with this subject, or names of Book, etc...?
Thanx very much,

does anyone know a good software to make wav files from the line in of my mach; i bought one few days ago.
thanks
paolo
Good Macintosh software for your new machine.
Well, you know...
one of the BEST programs on a mac I have ever used is Sound Sculptor II. It's very nice shareware. You would do well to download it and SoundApp. That way you can convert from AIFF (or elseware) to whatever format you need. SoundApp is freeware.
I really admire the programmer who made Sound Sculptor. It really uses RAM very efficiently and quickly. You can work with large files if you give it enough ram in the Finder.
Sound Sculptor even works with 68K macs.
I have used ProTools, Logic Audio, WaveLab, Sound Forge, Acid, SoundEdit 16, to name a few. But Sound Sculptor is one of my favorites for simple Mac use. You can store it on a floppy disk, my friend.
That is the signature of a stylish programmer.
mixman studio FX
I just got Mixman Studio FX with a sound card I just installed. There are some things I really can't figure out about it, and its help is pretty minimal. Does anyone know of a site with documentation about the app?
Thanks.
recording with a 486
I have an old 486/66 with a SB awe32 sound card. Would this be sufficent to record some old LP's I have. Any recommendations on software running win 95 with 16 meg ram.
Any advice on this would be appreciated. I don't really want to become a master at this, I just what to get my LP's to CD.
Thanks in advance

plug in effects
I'm looking for a vocal effect plug in that gives computer voice sounds and effects. Does anyone know of ones that will work with Digital Performer or Protools. (MAC)
Thanks so much for the advice
Re: plug in effects
Don't know if it works for Mac, but try visiting the ANALOGIX website ("SayIt"-program, freeware)
>Plaswekker<
Re: plug in effects
Well, I don't know any for the software you mentioned, but there's one for Cool Edit : Scifi deluxe.
Reply to Steve.
Many thanks Steve,I'll take your advice and confirm specs on their website.
Creative Labs Soundcard Mic & Input Jacks Query
Could anybody tell me if the mic & input jacks on the Creative Labs soundcards are in stereo or mono.
Re: Creative Labs Soundcard Mic & Input Jacks Query
it's mono cause a mic for voice uses only your voice but if u use stereo it won't be worst or better
Re: Creative Labs Soundcard Mic & Input Jacks Query
I would be suprised if they weren't stereo. It's more than likely worth going to their website and checking on the specs for the card you have.

Any Good Alternatives To Adaptec Easy CD Creator?
I am looking in earnest for a good cd/burner -mp3 ripper software. I would appreciate any help you good people could offer. Thank you.
Easy CD Creator is the easiest, but you might like this...
You should try Exact Audio Copy.
it is available from www.ExactAudioCopy.de
It will take you a day to get familiar with it's
hi-tech options, but the genius who created it is
just that, a genius!
Even if you don't want highly accurate CD copies, you can use EAC as a very good sounding CD player which sounds better than Windows Media Player and has a more useful (yet boring) display.
Best of all, you can normalize your tracks to the exact level while you rip from CD to WAVE.
Sure, it's not really what you ordered...
What you really want IS Easy CD Creator.
Easy CD Creator is probably the best 'cause it's
so easy to use and you can control the CDR drive write speed. You can do a test run, and you can rip audio or play CD tracks. You can make mixed mode cds and cd extras and boot disks and data disks.
geez. i mean you can make a cd more advanced than most of the professional cd's in your collection with the cd extra function.
why fix it if it ain't broken?
do all your mastering with your pro audio tools, then burn a quickie with adaptec.
Well, if you must ask for another...
you could try to use Master Unit by steinberg.
That way, if you're addicted to that crappy Windows Media Player SRS Wow bullshit tricksterism, then you can burn it into your tracks. It's a little bit buggy, though. I got sick of mine and trashed it. Master Unit can burn CD's though, and it's primitive EQ is good enough for basic treble boosts and low end mud pieing.

Sorry but the damn thing isn't a proper MIDI keyboard. The so called Midi function is only for uploading and downloading songs you create on it.I bought one and am well and truly pissed of with Yamaha.

Roland file conversion
I have a Roland KR4500. I can save music I play on
disk and play back on this keyboard. When I attempt
to play or view music on PC I receive an error message
that the file format is unrecognized. The file formats
or RSC(index or title I think) and RSD (music tracks)
I contacted Roland once about a way of converting to
Standard MIDI format but had no luck. Does anyone know
of a conversion software for this format.
Thanks

ii had the same problem, but the rolad said it is not possible anithing with the pc because the fat of the keyboard drive is different from the fat of pc. When you read the floppy in the pc you immediately distroy the capability of reading the files with the keyboard.
The only way to communicate with the pc is via midi. Have you a simple way to define the communication from kr4500 to a midi port of PC?
Best regards

Do virtual midi interfaces exist?
I would like to trigger one piece of Windows software from another piece of windows software via midi. Is there such a program as a virtual midi interface where I dont have to use 2 soundcards or will I have to buy 2 soundcards and physically connect one output to the others input?
Re: Do virtual midi interfaces exist?
Yes indeed. Look for 'Hubi's loopback device', it's a FREE program/virtual midi device. Like it says, it installs a virtual midi device that (for instance) can be used as midi output in cakewalk and as midi in for a softsynth or whatever. Great tool!!
Hope it helps

why does my cd burn keep hanging part way through
i have wp1622 burner that just ruins cd's . i am using easy cd creater and nero software but sometimes it will burn one next 4 next half a song i am buying blanks by the truck load any ideas
WARNING! DON'T USE NERO!!
Nero is very buggy if you are using IDE-drivers. I have had several problems with Nero and IDE. If you want to use Nero on IDE-drivers antyway, use it under NT. Try CDR-win instead or rather use CE-quadrat Just burn.
MP3 Codec Needed For Adaptec Easy CD Creator
I need to install an MP3 Codec in order to create MP3 files with Adaptec. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can share where I might download the required Codec. Thank you.

Glues melting from the keys of My Roland XP80
The keys of my Roland XP80 keep on melting from day to day with rosy glues causing most of the black keys stuck and the white keys dropping away the metal plates under the white keys. Any advice as how to clean up the sticky mess? Please, don't tell me to go to the Roland service centre for they won't do it for nothing.

"Music Printer Plus" (MPP)
MPP is a dos music notation software with terrific midi
real-time, step-time capability and editing simplicity.
The only problem is that it won't work with "Crystal"
sound card that came integrated with this HP 6630 rig,
not even in dos. I have to use a 1993 Dell 468-66 to
input music from the midi keyboard. The creator of the
program is no longer available and the previous distri-
butor has dropped its support of the program. Anybody
have any suggestions, other than switching to Sibelius?
Thanks for considering. Sincerely, E.T.
Re: "Music Printer Plus" (MPP)
Who can help me with a working copy of MPP.
My copy is crashed....
Thanks

Want to print notation
Have pgm that will create notation but will not print
What is most economical way to get printed notation??
Re: Want to print notation
On a mac, try Lime. on a PC, i believe there is a freeware version of Finale.
Lime is freeware that is 68K compatible.
Finale is overwhelmingly sophisticated.
Since you are asking us here, you must not be
too interested in doing the hard work.
Then again, you ARE asking about notation, which is a dying art. Even MIDI is a dying art, for god's sake...
therefore, what i would suggest, is if you are really keen on music notation for printing...
you should just use whatever object-oriented drawing programs you can get your hands on.
graphics programs have the best printing options, and if you really know music notation, then it's not hard to cut and paste musical symbols onto musical symbols. then just print the picture.
It sounds crazy, but it allows the most freedom of size, colour, background, staves, text, etc.
you could even use Icons in hyperCard, or musical fonts.
Musical fonts are probably the most economical, cause then you don't have to hand-design your own graphics set.
Graphics programs are real good these days of delivering smooth printing. If you aren't into that, then i suggest you just give up on notation like the bulk of music hobbyists and just rely on overdubbing, editing, and trial and error for composing.
A good piano lesson with a college music teacher is the best notation program i know of...
hack your mind, and you'll never need a keyGen.
--xen
p.s.-yes, i am a snob. i learned enough notation to throw it away. Does Trent Reznor or Jack Dangers use notation? i doubt it. Besides, most of the damned planet never relied upon notation to make good music. That's just another myth propagated by unwitting Eurocentrists.
