Napster
I can not share all the mp3 files i ve recorded with real juke box 2 plus, on napster since i have bought realjukebox. Even though i have checked all my folders.
Last time i recorded with real a cd, only 10 mp3tracks out of 15 mp3tracks appear on my sharing list on napster. Why?
How to rip from a CD to mp3 as one huge file?
I got a CD of nonstop hits and I want to rip it to mp3. But the CD has many different songs. So which software can I use to rip the songs in my CD to one single mp3 file?
Thanks a lot.

You can convert CDA files
using a third-party application. Check out:

Transferring LPs to CDs
I am planning on using a MiniDisc as an intermediate to transfer some rare LPs to CD using a TEAC CD-W512EB CD-RW deck by recording from LP to MD, then using my portable MD to feed the soundcard. I am interested in using some sound filtering software to reduce or eliminate LP surface noise (pops, clicks, etc.) and have seen that EasyCD Deluxe does that. Question is, is that a program that allows manual editing of waveforms, does it cause significant sound degradation, and are there better alternatives out there? Also, any better suggestions on getting LPs to CDs?

What is the best (read:universal)software program (you can reccomend ),to carry out all major components of producing my own CD, from sources like: vinyl records, CDs,downloads.
Printing the files' names(song titles) feature absolutely essential...
Re: Transferring LPs to CDs
When you record a song from your LP to your Minidisc player it does a A/D conversion but its not a good way to do this. What you need is a much better A/D conversion first. I use CoolEdit Pro 1.2 software to record a song onto my hard disk (either via minidisc with optical input or from a cassette). My sound card is Creative Soundblaster Live! Platinum. This has one of the best A/D conversion algorithms. I can then remove clicks, pops, any hiss etc using CoolEdit and then I can either convert it to an MP3 or a .rm or burn a CD.
You can get quite good info from

Burning a CD
hey, I'm new at this, but I want to record a CD for to listen to it in the car. Everything that I do doesn't work. Made a CD in MP3, WAV, you name it. Still doesn't work... What's the best way to get started?

You need to Un-Zip it so you can install the program.
The unzipper I like most on Windows is WinZip which
you can get at www.winzip.com
RECORDING AND SPLITING MIXED MUSIC
WHEN I RECORD MUSIC IT COMES OUT GREAT UNTIL I TRY TO ADD TRACKS TO A NON STOP MIX.THE TRACKS ARE ADDED BUT EVERYTIME TRACKS ARE CHANGED ON THE PLAYBACK YOU CAN HEAR A SLIGHT GLITCH.ALL SCREEN SAVERS ARE DISABLED WHAT COULD IT BE? I'M USING JUST BURN PROGRAM ON A COMPAQ 5834.IT SEEMS AS THOUGH SOMETHING CAUSES THE HARDRIVE TO SKIP WHERE THE TRACK IS ADDED.
Re: SPLITING MIXED MUSIC
: WHEN I RECORD MUSIC IT COMES OUT GREAT UNTIL I PLAY THE CD AND IT'S A NON STOP MIX.THE TRACKS ARE NOT SEPARATED IT IS ONE LONG TRACK! IF YOU PRESS NEXT TRACK IT WILL GO RIGHT BACK TO THE BEGGINING. HOW DO I FIX THIS!
i USE ADAPTEC EASY CD CREATOR AND I LOOK FOR THE OPTION TO SPLIT TRACKS, IT HAS IT BUT IT WON'T ALLOW ME TO DO IT!
I THANK YOU FOR YOU HELP
Re: RECORDING AND SPLITING MIXED MUSIC
the number of tracks you can use hinges quite a bit on HARD DRIVE speed and cpu power.
youre question is a bit vague but-
when you get glitchy sound your cpu is usually
maxed out-
and HARD DRIVE-
the number of tracks you can use is limited by harddrive speed.you NEED at least a 7200 rpm drive.for best results use a 10,ooo rpm scsi drive.
and you will not get good results using 1 hard drive-
so you need a second hard drive at least 7200 rpm
the fastest cpu money can buy-if you use plug ins for reverb or other delays and modulations youll want a 850 mhz pentium 3 at least.
also most audio apps arent compatible with all configurations.users of the thunderbird cpu are finding that out
this is no brainer- but really you need to use the os the program is designed for as well.
and while a 1 ghz athlon may look good youll get better results with a 850 mhz pentium 3 for sheer power and for actually being compatible with more programs.
in the long run:
I found that even Windows's screen animation causes glitches.
These animations are the kind that you see every time you open a
window or pull a menu. Also, graphics card settings make a big
difference. Basically, anything that requires memory can cause
glitches.
You could hit control-alt-delete to see what might
be still running. Look at your system tray taskbar...
Whatever runs and can't be totally turned off is eating your
memory.
Also, it's hard for a computer to read/write the same drive at the same time
it's easier for it to read one drive while writing another.
this is very true for audio... recording is complex writing,
playing is complex reading...
The computer is doing lots of THINKing about all of this too.
and to make matters worse, it has to draw all of
these damned PICTURES of SOUNDS.
let's think about that one. You have all of this
computo-power to draw PICTURES of SOUNDS.
how useful is THAT...?
if you aren't deaf, you really don't usually NEED
a PICTURE of a SOUND.
Take a good look at a microphone if you know what
one is... notice no camera lense!
look at your grandpa's turntable... no Monitor!
The beatles didn't need oscilloscopes to record
Sgt. Pepper's Hearts Club Band.
screw the bullshit.
trash all of the programs you don't need to run.
you might need to trash a lot of your operating
system's fluff.
then defragment the whole shebang.
add some RAM, and make sure that the system isn't
configured to do some oddball automatic file saving
of ANYTHING.
make sure that you don't have any special file caches going
on.
aayhhh... it's helluva lot of work, but that's why
so many recording studios have waited SO LONG
to even get into computer audio.
The best computers for digital audio aren't even
called computers. They are usually called Digital Audio Workstations, or
digital recorders, or such. This is the curse of digital music...
the most advanced tools are either too expensive or too complicated.
however, the BEST tools, aren't always the most
advanced.
dig?
Re: in the long run:
What Xen is telling you is probably wright. The IBM Style computers take a lot of memory to simply run the system software overhead. Reading and writing to the same disk at the same time taxes a hard drive. Think about it would you try can play a record and record on it at the same time. My G4 will get glitches in the music if I Play a list of top tunes, edit two or three music files and down load stuff off the web at the same time. One hard drive can can only read and write so much so fast. Another solution to the problem might be to add enough memory to the system. You can load a complete song or songs into memory at one time. Its also faster. When you lay it down on a media it will go as a single unit. crystal clean. :)
editing MP3 files
How can you edit MP3 files (i.e. remove the first 60 seconds of intro)?

Mp3 Bit Rates Question
Hi!
What is the best bit rate for converting mp3's the encoder i have goes from 8-320 and has a variable bit rate thingy. Obviously 320's gonna be the best, but whats the best in terms of it sounds just as good or almost at good as the original CD but without takin up a big chunk of your hard drive. I would appreciate it if you could help me out and email me at aaronc7@hotmail.com or reply on here, whatever.
Re: Mp3 Bit Rates Question
Use 192kb/sec. That's is what I use for keeping my cds in digital. If my cds get scratched then I just burn this to cd. 192 sounds just like the orginal. When I listen to music on mp3 player. I convert to 96kb/sec. This is because when I'm wearing earphones I don't notice the quality difference very much.

Soundfont information
I'm a rookie to midi backtrack-making - using Cakewalk 8.0 with a soundfont manager app installed. No info on soundfont usage and management in Cakewalk manual. Where can I get sufficient info/reading in order to make use of soundfonts (if I can) in midi backtracks? Please help!!!

Don't get excited. I don't have the answer, but I'm wondering if we are being baffled by the same mystery. I also have Cakewalk ProAudio 8. I want to use soundfonts or instruments from sample cds that can be saved as a library of sounds. That way all of my instruments would be housed in my harddrive and I would use my midi keyboard for nothing more than manipulating the notes those instruments would follow. Nothing like this is covered in the manual. If this is not at all what you are referring to--sorry. If it is, maybe we can keep each other posted if we find out anything.
Still looking,

ADAT/EDIT A good place to start?
I'm just getting into HD recording. I use a classic ADAT now, so the ADAT EDIT seems attractive because it will allow me to dump down a bunch of my existing work quickly.
BUT it also seems a bit limited, especially the software.
QUESTIONS:
- Can I rig up a system with Cool Edit and Sound Blaster AND have the ADAT/EDIT, too, just so I can access the ADAT?
- Can I get tracks into WAV files then use Cool Edit, then bounce them back to ADAT with ADAT/EDIT?
- Would it just make more sense to get a card like Frontier Designs WaveCenter and forget the ADAT/EDIT?
THANKS FOR ANY USEFUL FEEDBACK!!
Re: ADAT/EDIT A good place to start?
Well, i hate to tell you, but its not gonna work out. The soundblaster audio card and the adat audio card wont like each other and conflict. Unfortunately there is no way around this. Its either adat/edit or cool edit. Good Luck.
Happy Recording
Stevo

It seems you need an optical in from your ADAT. Try the Frontier Wavecenter PCI card that allows opitcal, SPDIF I/O and MIDI. I understand this is easier to use than the ADAT/Edit. Good luck.
Re: ADAT/EDIT A good place to start?
i realize this is a late post , but if you're still thinking about it...reconsider...i have an adat/edit and the drivers are horrible. No development is going to be mde for 2000.
I've had adatedit hell for the last 6 months now...
ADAT/EDIT could you attach me the drivers, Please?
Hello,
I've just bought one Adat Edit, but my CD was missing in the duty's airport (I believe).
Can you send me the windows drivers, please?
Or at least tell where is the hell's site of Alesis now? Once the www.alesis.com is no more getting me them... >:(
Many thanks!!!

convert c scale output to dc outputs
I am looking for software or an apparatus that is able
to convert the output of a standard keyboard for the
middle scale C to C (8 notes) into a DC type output
to trigger a light circuit. The light circuit consists
of 8 colored low voltage lights, one for each of the 8
notes in the scale. When a light comes on a child will
ring a bell of the same color. I have a bell choir
made up of about 14 children ages 5-9, they each play 2
different colored bells. At this time I use cards
with the colors marked on them and flip the cards while
a musical background tape is playing. The problem is
that the leader (me) is very limited as to how fast he
can flip the cards or how long it t5akes to make a card
set. If I could trigger the lights with a keyboard it
would make the process much faster. I could also
arrange and perform a song in a very short time as
opposed to the hours it takes me to arrange and make a
card set now. If you know of software or mechanisms
that could be used I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks, Gene Maxwell
Help me please!!!!
I have Sonic Foundry Siren Jukebox and I can't burn some of my mp3s because they aren't in the 44.1 KHz 16 Bit Stereo format. Is there a program that will convert my mp3s into this format so I can burn them? If so please reply and tell me or even better if you could e-mail me with a link to download it. Thank you very much
