I am going to be building a DAW soon. Was wondering if anyone has had
any experience with the following setup (or something similiar):

Athlon XP 2200
ASUS A7N8X-E mobo
Albatron nVIDIA GeForce4 MX440-8X, 64MB (sorta cheap, but I dont need
graphics)
2x SAMSUNG HD 80GB 7200/ATA133 M-Audio 2496 sound card
SONY Beige 52x32x52 IDE Internal CD-RW Drive (thats right, beige!)
2x Corsair 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200
using a case with 400w power supply

Am I going to run into any obvious problems?

You might have noticed lately that the 'Search Message'
function wasn't coming up with messages that were recently
posted.

This has now been fixed. The search index is update a couple
of times a week so you can find recent results from up to
70,000 messages.

The 'Search Messages' box is just above the '<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/wwwboard/#post">Post A Message</a>'
box on the main page of this forum.

First sorry for my bad english
I have Creative SB Live (the value version) and Cubase SX 1.01 installed.
Everything seems to work fine, but there are things that I really don't understand.

1.The list of the available midi out ports
per track has some redundant entries.
I know that's not unussuall(I have found some info on the net), but the problem is the following:
When I choose the "SB Live synth" A or B, everything is working fine except that I cannot list the patch names, like "Piano","Violin" etc..I have to type the values manually for each track (for example,let's say that bank: 0 patch: 1
is a "piano") But when I switch the track's Midi out to the redundant "SB Live Synth!" A or B, the patch names are here available for selecting...but there's no playback! I've tried to change the bank, to change instruments but there's no sound. (the track's playback meter- the led is responding)
I've tried to solve this by going to the midi device manager and installing a Midi device (GM or XG or whatever) and it's working OK,but I cannot find the particular instrument that I'm looking for in the available banks for these devices.

2.My both midi synths: SB Live synth A and B appear correctly in list in the Devices>"Device Setup", but when I click them, there r no available settings on the right side, it's just grey under the "Setup" tab.
Is that normal or is it something wrong?

3.All of the listed Midi ports in the "DirectMusic" setup except the "SB Live midi port" are turned off and I cannot switch them to "Active" mode by clicking under the "Active" option.

Is this normal?

I just recored my set I've found one point where it sounds to thick like to much is going on, it's at the a point where you here both records loud and I would like to soften it up or bow out gracefully and I'd like to know how to track out my set so you can fast forward if desired because now it's one track and I'd like to do it with out the pause in between them.

I am interested in open source code that Seperate the frequency response from wave file using c++ programming. So kindly sent me the required information.

I am having a very problem with Encore 4.2, the early version. I have windows 98, just for your reference. Here's the problem. I put in the notes on the various staffs, when I get ready to print, the page looks fine and then when I print, some of the notes don't show up or else they show up at the bottom of the page instead of the staff they were written on. I've tried adjusting my system set, my measures per page and nothing seems to remedy the problem. It may have something do with my printer but I can't imagine what it would be. I have an antique, more or less. It's a Compaq IJ300. Frankly, I'm stumped and would appreciate any help. I'm doing some arrangements for a group I work with and have to go through and write in missing notes plus cross out unwanted ones. The notes I'm putting are often via mouse, rather than through my keyboard. Could that be a factor? Should that be a factor? Anyway, I'll appreciate any clues on this.
