I also believe that AG has been forced to toe the line in relation to copyright, so downloading all your fave hits is probably a thing of the past.

I would like to see programs like VP 2.5 to be linked to catagory called Midi and Utilities, would his be possible to cross-link the database for these purposes.

I mean, I have been using it all day yesdtrerday and today, and it is a ture MIDI utility.

Does ANYONE out there input MIDI or audio to WIN XP?

I am running Sonar 2.0 on WIN XP and cannot seem to find a MIDI or audio interface that will work. Midiman Sport 2x2 USB crashed my system and M Audio Quattro USB almost did but I dumped it as soon as I saw the same symptoms. Now I have an Audiophile 2496 PCI that I'm afraid to open because the retailer will not stand behind its claims of being WIM XP compatable. Some say I should donate my PC to the artificial reef foundation and get a Mac that actually works but that's not in the budget right now. Has anyone had any sucess in connecting MIDI or audio to a PC running XP?????

Before I get on my Soapbox, the differences between USB (1.0 BTW) devices working and PCI devices working, on any OS version, are vast. Don't panic on that minor point, though.

Ignore the "some" that sya you should get rid of the PC for A Mac when it comes to Digital Audio and MIDI. That is ludicrous. All MIDI Standards were developed by Roland Corp on PCs first, and MOST Digital Audio programs worth salt or gold are available for the PC - not the Mac. Don't climb on this soapbox with me, the Aduio Software that is used by the pros on Macs are excellant software, but expensive (both the Machine and the Software).

One of the Osundcards you mention would be compatible with the current MacOS regarding Digital Audio, and that would be MacOS 9 (not OS X, sorry). When the bugs are worked out of OS 10.3.3547 or whatever version patch it is now - especially regarding the new MIDI standard - then maybe ALSO add a Mac to your arsenal.

As far as your crashes are concerned, can you get the sound cards to work with any Other softwares (other than SONAR 2.0). You also might do better with SONAR XL, however using XP.

Just for our info, are you using Home or Pro? Motherboard brand, Computer brand, Processor speed, are you overclocking?, how much of a computer geek are you bla bla, How much RAM (also what type and speed), type and speed of Harddrive, Exact XP version, exact DirectX version (as you are using SONAR, this really won't affect SONAR running by itself as it's DX and DXi is proiprietary but not too different from MS DX , for the most part)

I am using Win Xp Home edition on a toshiba satellite 1905 s301. I have never had a problem with the midisport 2x2, Because of this I purchased the Quattro thinking it would be just as useful. It has given be nothing but trouble...after uninstalling it, it has done more damage than good. it is a garbage product that should never have been released. Midiman tech support is non-existant and I feel like a sucker for believing that this product was compatible with win xp at all. I have tried using home and pro os with no luck at all. As you can probably tell I am very frustrated and dissatisfied. I wish I could afford higher quality gear, but don't we all... If anybody has purchased midiman gear, I would say run from it...very quickly. hopefully there is someone out there with a little nugget of wisdom that makes everybody not feel ripped off.

First let me say thanx for your response. I'm not much of a computer geek but I did find some of the infomation you asked for. I'm running Sonar 2.0 XL on a Dell Dimension 4300 x86-based PC. Ram is 256. Processor is P4 1.6 x86 Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 2 genuine Intell (I don't know what overclocking is). Hard drive is 40 GB (34.1 Free). Direct X 8.0. Win XP 2002 version 5.1.2600 build 2600. Current sound card is Turtle Beach Santa Cruz WDM interface.
Actually I was able to get the Midiman 2x2 to work, although when I installed the drivers XP advised me that they did not pass the "logo test" and may cause a system breakdown. The install instructions said to "continue anyway" so I did. After that an icon appeared on the task bar giving me the chance to "safely" remove the hardware. I did not and in 3 days my computer crashed. When I installed the Quattero drivers the same warnings appeared and the install instructions again told me to "continue anyway". Rather than have the same problem, I removed the device. That's when M Audio suggested the Audiophile 2496 PCI. The retailer already told me that they would not take it back if it did not work so it is still unopened. I'm a bit hesitant when the manufacturer claims to be XP compatable, yet anticipates in it's install instructions that XP will warn me that it has not pased the XP Logo test but tells me to "continue anyway".

First, what's the point of posting a question, then expecting the reply to be sent to your e-mail where no one else can read it. If you can't be bothered coming back, then you don't deserve a response.

If you do actually return, then the answer is that there is nothing around that will do what you want, and there is unlikely to be anything for the foreseeable future (and I'm talking years here).

There are basically two score programs that count: Finale and Sibelius. They can transpose scores (but this is a function all score programs can I guess), they can transform sheetmusic into a bitmap or jpg, and I know that Sibelius has a plugin called photoscore; you can scan sheetmusic and it will be read into a Sibelius file.
So check these progs out.

soundfonts and cubase vst

hello i've got a big big problem...
i use cubase vst 32 to sequence..and all was ok.
But i had to re-set up my sound card SOUNDBLASTER LIVE 5.1 PLATINIUM AND SINCE THIS TIME the soundfonts and the synth of my card are not open in the out window of Cubase.
The synthetiser of the card is ok because i can use it with others programmes like ENCORE
the soundfonts are ok too because i can open their with VIENNA 2.3 ( soundfonts programme )
but CUBASE recognise only the MIDI out of the soundblaster and others programmes like GIGASAMPLER but not the soundfonds or the synthe of the card.

i tried all i could..so i hope that thereis anybody to help me.

Any converstion software for Rhapsody (Notation Software) conve

I have been using Rhapsody by Passport (no longer in business) to compose and print simple sheet music on a Macintosh. The mac is old and not usb and I am afraid one or the other component may break (CPU, monitor or printer) and I won't want to sink any money into it. I also own a 1 Ghz Athlon PC (Sony) with Windows ME. I have hundreds of songs already done on the mac. Is there any software I can buy for PC that will read the mac Rhapsody files? (Finale by Coda says it reads Rhapsody files but I'm not sure about files that are created on a mac instead of a PC version. Also, I would like to spend less than $400) Or, has anyone used Virtual Macintosh to run mac music notation software on a PC? That would offer a bonus of being able to use my other mac software on the PC.

Also, has anyone used one of the scanning softwares for sheet music that you could recommend? Do any do a good job manipulating the scanned music(especially transposing keys?) Finale also comes with sheet music scanning software. I just feel that for writing single staff fake sheets that Finale is overkill when other notation programs sell for as little as $20.

If anyone has used Rhapsody and found a similar notation software for PC to recommend, that would be appreciated, too. I have been downloading demos and so far, I haven't found one that I'm thrilled with, though Cakewalk ScoreWriter comes close.

I was able to answer some of my own questions by researching further into available software. PrintMusic by Coda is only $70 and will import Rhapsody files, although the program has a couple of faults, namely, the chords don't line up over the notes and imported minor chords are displayed as "Cminor" instead of "Cm".

i have a digi001 interfase that is designed for windows 95 and windows milliem but i have a windows xp.what im trying to do is use the iterfase with protools 5.3.1 (downloaded software)that i can use on the computer windows xp but i dont have the slightest idea on how to work the software work that i downloaded off the www.digidesign.com site

Our main office is located on the East coast of Australia, we do not have an office in India. However, you will find that many of the software developers will ship their products to India.
