" More voices" software
Hello,
What kind of software can I use, to produce from 1 voice... more voices ( second, thirth etc.)
Thanx

Re: " More voices" software
I can't remember what it's called but it's likely to be in the effects section on this site. The program can generate 4 voices from one and way more if you have multiple vocalists. If you do a search, you will find it.

mic help
If I want to record my voice on my computer do I need a cpu mic or can I use a regular mic and just get software?
mic help
I have this friend and she has a mic but it wonldn't work but it works on my computer, what should I do? How do I make the mic work on her computer?
CPU mic??
What you need is a dedicated mic input for a dynamic microphone. If you want to use a Condenser mic then you will need a preamp with Phantom Power (48vdc).
If you need great quality, I would consider an M-Audio AudioBuddy as it has two mic pre's of decent quality and phantom powering for both. This will plug straight into a line level input on your sound/audio card.
If you have an average to poor quality card, then buying the audio buddy is only going half way.
It depends on your quality requirements

How do I convert WMA files to mp3
I have Music Match Juke Box which will convert WAV, and MP3 files. But it won't allow me to convert a WMA file to anything other than a WMA file.

Hi, the one I use (and the only program I've ran across that offers this option) is cool edit pro v2. works like a charm, although the wma compression can be pretty lousy sounding if squashed too hard.... dave
Cubasis VST Plug Ins/Filters
I have a copy of Cubasis VST version 3.7 that came bundled with my SoundBlaster Platinum Audio Card. I don't know what I've done but......
whenever I start the programme I get the following message- "Can't find the requested filter. Did you move the PlugIn-File?"
This appears SEVEN TIMES (now) before the programme loads. Sometimes it won't load and tells me I've done something illegal. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
Re: Cubasis VST Plug Ins/Filters
Never mind. These software geniuses keep managing to get their products full of bugs.
Re: Cubasis VST Plug Ins/Filters
I get this too with cubasis vst 3.0r1
i tried installing the r3 patch from steinburges website but that also fell over on install

It's not your fault.
Probably your registry contains inaccurate information about Cubasis.
This could be your fault, a plug-in's fault, Cubasis's fault, or some other program's fault. You may want to use a Registry cleaner to remove all occurances of "Cubasis" from your registry and then reinstall Cubasis. I have done something like this when my VST plug-ins weren't all showing up. I found the entry in the registry for VST plug-ins (for Cubasis), deleted it, and reinstalled. This fixed the problem until it happened again. The problem didn't go away until I had deleted my TRIAL plug-ins and redid this whole purging thing.
If it's a DirectX problem, you could try using the DX Manager program
from ANALOGX.COM.
Then again, when a program says it can't find a file, it usually indicates that the file's name has been changed, or that it truly doesn't exist. Given that the file's path name (volume/folder/folder/folder/.../file) is part of it's name,
even if you just rename your drive, you could "lose" files to dumb programs.
I have always thought that using names as command element is totally
stupid for programmers, since each file is known in a system by ID number. Names are merely attributes, such as colour or file size, or
when the file was last modified. To identify a file by NAME is totally stupid, but it's still common practice. It's even more stupid, since the name also doubles as the file's address. If people did this with each other, no one would ever know who or where anyone was. How stupid.
Better programs allow you to do whatever to the file, and the program can still find it. Any programmers reading this, PAY ATTENTION!!!

Actually this is not fully accurate. Windows
allows programmers to access files BY NAME ONLY.
Any other way to refer to a file and you're
breaking virtually every law the OS and its APIs
are setting for you. Now.. some programmers may
be rebels but if you want to keep your software
compatible with the constant flow of new OSs
being spit out by Bill Gates you'd better follow
their guidelines are be put up with obsolete
software.

Hi, I was wondering where you might be able to get a codec for converting RMJ-format files (files created with RealOnePlayer, horrible horrible pestilence that it is on convenient audio playback) or failing that some sort of specific program. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!

Recording Vocals
Is there any way to record vocals on the Casio WK1630?
Thanks!!
Re: Recording Vocals
Doesn't look like it. All I could do is read the spec's on two different sites and it doesn't mention anything about sampling which is the key here.
If you have a computer, you may find that is the solution to recording voice and keeping it in time with the keyboard via midi..

No sound in some AVI files (compression unknown tag 0161)???
I have this problem with playing some AVI files - the picture's fine but no sound.
If I check the sound settings in virtualdub it tells me:
sampling rate: 8000Hz
Channels: 1 mono
Sample precision: 16-bit
compression: Unknown (tag 0161)
Preload skew: 16 samples (0.00s)
What's tag 0161 then?
Thanks
Re: No sound in some AVI files (compression unknown tag 0161)???
You need the infamous divx audio. Apparently it's bad, and I've even seen advice to deinstall it, but here it goes:

Anyone already tried Tuareg 2??
I was wondering if anyone here already installed
Tuareg 2 from www.brambos.com? I have the freeware
version from Tuareg 1.. is it worth the download?
JJ
Re: Anyone already tried Tuareg 2??
Tuareg is by far my favorite audio program. It's a lot
like the hit Rebirth, on the Mac, but it's got lots more to
offer. The main trick is learning to do stereo on Tuareg.
Basically, what you do is create a track, duplicate it,
and pan the duplicate opposite to the original. If the tracks
are different in any way, you have instant stereo. It's
not so hard to do. The RAGE and BLISS windows are very accommodating.
Also, during WAVE file importing, I always let Tuareg split the
stereo files into left and right halves so I could use left
for the left track, right for the right track. Very easy.
In addition, Tuareg can save your custom panning schemes.
This is totally cool, because with the click of a button,
you can flip the pan to the other side.
Naturally, all the beat splicing options are great for
editing, and since you can save all your tricks, you
can use them over and over again and create new variations.
Tuareg is one of the most efficient tools I've ever used.
It's also not bad at BPM matching if you get used to it.
The built in echoes are also nice for deep stereo delays
if you use different echoes on each channel.
I did all of my best electro songs on Tuareg (the FAT version)
. I used it for synthesis and composition and sequencing
and some editing. After I made some big song chunks, I'd
render them to WAVE files and import them into Cubasis VST.
Many times I'd convert those WAVE files to 48kHz first using WaveLab Lite (or another editor), since Cubasis
can run at 48kHz. Once in Cubasis, it wasn't hard to match the BPM (type it in)
at lock it to the measure grid. Then I could layer more tracks,
add VST instruments, and plenty of nice VST effects. With
the 48kHz sampling rate, my effects and VST instruments were of
a slightly higher quality than if I'd just used plain 44.1kHz
WAVE files. After some nice fun cutting and pasting and overdubbing
and resampling, and vocals and EQ, I render the final mix to a
48kHz WAVE file and clean up the intro and ending and any
special parts using WaveLabeLite (comes with Cubasis).
WaveLab is quick to convert back to 44.1kHz cleanly, so I'd do that
and burn to CD. Later on, I started using DDCLip Pro as
a final step before the final 44.1kHz pre-CD file, since DDCLip can
use 32bit 96kHz files and has built in effects and very easy
overdubbing. It also has very good dithering and EQ and mastering options.
So, even if i did all this cool stuff in Tuareg at a mere 44.1kHz,
I still accomplished a lot at 32bits 96kHz (effects and overdubs).
I actually noticed a huge improvement in sound quality.
If you give up on Tuareg and seek something better, you
are missing out on a lot.
Other good tools to use with Tuareg:
Amen (breakbeat tool)
Hammerhead (beautiful drum machine)
SimSynth (great synthesizer)
Moonfish (odd but kinda interesting)
AnalogX AutoTune (tunes/converts samples to pitch)
HOG (32bit effect processor freeware with Vocoder)
