roland vs 1880
Does anyone know how to obtain a larger IDE drive for the 1880? And if so, how much? Also, I was wondering if it is possible to use an external SCSI drive insead of the stock IDE? Thanks.

I have a friend who has a Roland VS-1880 and he's getting the following errors:
1. Unknown Disk Error (When trying to save the song to Hard disk or CD rom)
2. When writing to Cd the song length increases from eg.22 mins to 35 mins
what solution can you suggest? is there a system reset or some software bug that needs to be fixed or a hardware error?
Fruityloops Generator Help
When I use the MIDI Out generator in fruityloops I hear sound, but when I export it to mp3 I can no longer hear the MIDI Out generator but I'm still able to hear other generators I've used. What's wrong.

I assume you're using fl to make your keyboard play. Then of course you can't save the music unless your keyboard has such a function

It's fine to ask for help, but......please, this is a forum, and if the answers are not posted, then it really defeats the purpose. I came here looking for an answer to the same question. I've looked through a lot of the links that should have had posted answers only to find that there was nothing there. So, while it may have helped Vern, it looks like it not only stopped there, but waisted a half hour of my time. Please, share the information. Vern, if you make your way back here. there is a little thingy called a bookmark.

I do not know who is running this "discussion group", or message board, but whoever it is should have answered Jason's inquiry. Regardless if Jason is smart enough to find this page again is irrelevant. Those of us who have since his initial inquiry may like to have an answer to his question. If you want people to continue using your site as an information tool, you need to answer all questions to the best of your knowledge, and if you do not have an answer, then have the balls to admit it!

Wavelab redux: desperate for Wavelab 2.03 upgrade patch

Looking for a good Midi program for Electronic Drums.
I just recently purchased a Rolan Electronic drumset and would like to get into Midi sampling. I.e. go out and find some good sounds to trigger through my drum pads.
I don't know the first thing about MIDI, but would like to learn. Can anyone recommend a good Midi player for a beginer? And, wher to go for good sounds?
(Using Windows 2000 Laptop)
Don't belabor the question
Well, I don't suggest this as a primary MIDI tool, but
it doesn't hurt to know that many VST-capable sequencers
with MIDI and audio can play MIDI sequences using VST instruments.
Sure, this isn't such a surprise, but there are now VST instruments
that can load and play WAVE files. This is great because you can
sequence any kind of audio file that can be converted to WAVE form (all of them, that is).
So you see, it really doesn't matter too much what you use so much if you can successfully
get your MIDI performance into your computer.
Can you split a wave into various tracks?
Does anyone know of some software which will split a wave into various parts. Can you reverse compile at all, i.e. to backing, vocal, instrumentals etc.?? Stupid question but can you?

If you get very ambitious with a variety of tools, you
can create some results which are useful under a few
conditions. This takes lots of time and energy, but you
can use a combination of amplitude processors and parametric
EQ and signal routing. Essentially, this means becoming a sound
engineer. I'm talking about using noise gates and compressors
with EQ'ed key inputs and so forth. Well, so i said it there.
Most people don't wish to bother with those things though. Still,
extracting the essence of a part can be useful as an effect. Most
music closely follows the equal-tempered scale, so most music can be
gridmatched to specific frequencies referenced to 440Hz. Therefore,
if you are very very patient, you can calculate the general "trajectory"
of an instrument in time with respect to frequency and control it's amplitude
at will. Also, as is mentioned about vocal removers, some instruments are
typically panned to certain positions. Last but not least, each instrument
has it's native frequency range and spectral bandwidth, so you have more
reference points to work with than just hit and miss.
Well, this is definately one of my more boring posts, but it's important
to acknowledge that anything is possible, but results may vary.

Hi,
Not really. There are some software that claim that they can split the vocals for example out of a wave or mp3, but there is no software that can do it accurately. The reason is because it is simply impossible to extract an instrument from the wave frequency without takeing some frequencies OFF of other instruments, so it IS impossible. If you want a week job, then there are many software at hitsquad that can attempt at that.

Unfortunately you didn't buy your MP3 converter
here - although you may have downloaded one of the
hundreds of demo or shareware ones on this site.
You will have to contact the authors of the software
and you can usually find their contact information
under the 'Help' menu - or simply from the receipt
you got when you bought the software.

Improving audio
Any suggestions for improving the hallow, tinny quality of audio on material I've recorded with my camcorder?

Get some lavalier microphones and use them instead of the built in microphone. You don't have
use the mics on clothing, either, you can use them for anything.
The closer the mic to the sources, often the better. Lavaliers
can be extremely cheap and effective.

Check out Cool Edit Pro or any good wave editors
for that matter (SoundForge etc).
You can apply noise reduction, equilizers FFT's filters etc...
You can basically do what you want with the audio.

Hmm, I never had to deal with that before. You would probably need to apply some noise reductions on it, hiss reduction etc, as I assume that the quality is not clear in that aspect. You can also apply a compressor to make it clearer and to balance the levels in a way. It is really hard to recomment a certain fix without hearing the audio file myself.
