cakewalk music creator 2002 - editting an mp3 or wav
in the cakewalk music creator 2002, can you break up an mp3 or wav. For example, I want to divide the song into the different instruments that it contains so that I can hear how each instrument sounds! please help me asap
CDMaster 32 HELP!!
I downloaded CDMaster 32 5.0 edition, But everytime i try to go to the site so i can use it to burn my MP3s into Audio CDs it says "THE XML PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED" "Cannot view XML imput using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error then try the refresh button". What does that mean and how do i fix it so that i can burn my MP3s over to Audio CDs?

yeah, you have to get a program that does it. go to roxio.com however you have to pay about$70 so im trying to find a way of getting it free, i thought you knew, but it's just a message.
bass compression
I'm finding that when I do soft synth bass tracks, there's inconsistencies of some notes sounding louder than others. Should I run the track through a compressor and/or limiter? If so, what should the attack/threshold/etc settings be?

I always compress a Bass. I also use many different compression settings.
The secret is to not kill the bass's dynamics and feeling. I tend to go with a 1/2.5 to 1/4 compression ratio with not much more than a -6db gain reduction and about a 10ms attack. . I am experimental though and have no set rules. Just places I often head to to start.Feel your way through it with your ears. You can tell when it's feeling is gone and when it's really pumping. Try and make slight adjustments and see how it sounds after the material is recorded.

qbasis vst metronome
hi i just got cubasis VST with a creative adigy card and when i record tracks wit the emtronome it records the cliking metronome too. ITs really anoying. Ive made sure teh mic isnt picking it up from the speakers. SO HOW DO I STOP QBASIS RECORDING TEH METRONOME?

I've got the same problem and have yet to figure it out. I set the audigy mixing software to only record line2/mike2 yet cubasis still picks up the metronome on the master channel. I've dug through the manual but no dice. Recording without the metronome is all but impossible. If anyone has any info I'd love to hear about it too

Windows XP v. Easy CD Creator 4
Help! I've upgraded by system for ME to XP. Apparently, in doing so Easy CD Creator 4 was dumped. I tried to reload it but received an advisory that it's not compatible with XP and that I should contact the s/w manufacturer. Do I have to buy a new version or is there a site that offers free downloads for current owners of version 4?

Yes you have been had. I was in the same position and think it is totally unethical to force your users to buy a new version. You have two choices
1) Try downloading WinMX to find a copy.
2) But it from ebay for $15.
sheet music downloads
I'm probably talking to the wrong person here but i'm at my wits end, ive got some downloads of piano sheet music but do not have any soft wear which supports the files so i can't open and read them. do you know of any softwear i can bye or download to open these files in their proper format i would be extremely grateful for any help thanx Stephie xxxx

Depends what format the files you've downloaded are in. What file extension do they have (i.e. the three letter suffix after the .)

Vocal removing software doesn't actually remove
vocals, they remove everything that is perfectly
center panned in the mix. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/1349/">Read more here</a>.
Unfortunately due to the recording techniques used
to record orchestral music you are exceeding unlikely to have anything perfectly centered because
instruments aren't individually tracked - the whole
orchestra is recorded similtaneously on a special
sound stage with multiple microphones placed around
the room.
HD for VS1680?
Any recomendation for an external HD for a Roland VS1680 is much appreciated. (Need more track minutes!)

I have an extra HD for my VS880 which is in the form of a 2.5inch laptop HD. It works fine.. Check with Roland's support line. Some of their techs are pretty good.

MusicMatch and Mixed CD's
I have the latest version of MusicMatch Jukebox, and it won't play a mixed cd. It plays all the tracks, but plays a 2 second gap, or stalls, just at the track change point. It happens regardless of whether it is a mixed CD-R or a commercial authored CD. I can't find a setting for it. Most other players (winamp, real) will play the same cd's mixed, on the same computer and cd drive with no problems. Any Ideas?

problems burning wav files that play in my in car cd player?
Liteon 32123s burning wav probs
I have a problem, perhaps you might know where I could get some advice on it?
with ref to recording music CD
I had a Hewlett Packard 9100 and a 9300, and when I burned music with those cd writers, the music cd worked fine in my in_car cd player, well most of the time at least.
But now I have a Liteon 32123s, and I Burn cd's the same way and they won't work on the in car cd player, but work fine on the home Hi Fi system and computer?
I burn them now with the latest Nero and Winoncd and Easy CD creator. but with no luck and I've updated the firmware to the latest available.
I use Mirror CD's and a few branded?
I was wondering if I used Silver/Silver to burn wav files onto cd would that help? because the record manufacturers use silver/silver.
(I think. Well they look silver both sides?)
I have not got silver/silver cd yet, and wondered if somebody has tried them? and exactly what brand of silver/silver they used?
Somebody mentioned that with the true silver cd, you could not see what you had burn onto the medium, might that be why the manufactured music cd work better in the in-car cd player?
I would be most grateful if somebody could help in any way, I have talked to quite a few people and they seem to have simular problemss, is there a FAQ on this subject?

I think tryiing different coloured CD's is worth a try. It's a laser power issue.
I wont go on as I think your one of those people that posts here and then leaves your email hoping that someone could be bothered to personally send you an answer due to the fact that you can't be bothered coming back for the answer yourself.

Convert Wav track to Audio files to record to CD
Hello,
I'm using the Logic Audio Platinum 4.5 program.
On the wav player I have applied wav files to keys and
from the EXS24 instrument editor is were I'm able to
play the wav files on one of the tracks on the Arrange
screen. I cant use any other tracks (for example
Audio, Audioinst, etc.) other then Wav tracks to
record on due to which I am only using wav files.
Wav files only play on wav tracks. When
I record I only get notes. I can get them in a Audio
file at all and I realized that there should be a
bounce feature were I can convert the record track
to audio files to burn to CD. I checked the index
and I cant find a bounce feature. Can you give me
directions as far as to convert it. please. Or
can you send me the manual to Logic Audio Platinum 4.5
due to which I lost my manual.

If you 'ever' had a manual, which you claim you did, bouncing a mix to a stereo pair or two mono documents would have been one of the first things you would have read. You obviously didn't read it OR own it at all.

Speed up your PC with this REGEDIT detail.
If you know how to use REGEDIT, then this will appeal to you.
Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Find the entry for the Task Monitor. You can edit this to be
any other program that you'd prefer to run at startup, such as
a RAM purger, or anything else that you like.
When I had a PC, I set mine to run Memory Max at startup. I noticed
in the Memory Max help screen that there is a command line string.
It was something like "MemMax.exe /M" or something, maybe "\M" well,
anyway. I put that in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run spot
instead of the task monitor. It worked great.
The Task Monitor sounds important, but really it doesn't do anything
useful. All it does is slow down your system with useless logging of
all disk and file activity. For audio recording, this is a TOTAL DRAG.
Task Monitor was supposedly invented to help disk defragmentation by keeping
a log of which programs were used the most, but I don't believe it.
I think it was invented to help log user activity for spyware.
At any rate, disabling it only helps us audio recording people.
Try it. After you do, from the RUN menu, do SCANREG at least 5 times.
This will insure that this nice change is incorporated into all of the
backup copies of your registry. That way, if your system crashes, you
won't lose this enhancement.

Automation record in Cubase VST instruments
Does anyone can tell me how do I record automation in A VST instrument (not in the mixer) like changing the freq of the LPF or changinf the cat.

Food for thought.
Personally, I use my computer for music and visuals.
I find discussion boards interesting too as sociological
experiments go. Still, I know I've been hacked, and you've
probably been hacked too. Many of us are trying to make
our systems more effective so that we can work on music
better and more easily. This is inhibited by infiltration
of our systems by adware, spyware, hackware, viruses, trojan
horses, unsolicited data exchanges, hidden files, hidden programs,
hidden extensions, installed code libraries, unsolicited configuration
changes, false installations, uninstallable bullshit, and other horrible
caca.
If you have been struggling to keep your computer in shape.
You may want to know what the bad news is. Well, this is
some of it.
Part of the reason why I incessantly encourage people to
be adventurous about reconfiguring and bugfixing their
systems is because of this: If you can run your system
better in an unconventional fashion, it will be more
resistant to invasions. This is because most systems
are configured to be similar to one another by default.
I believe this is intentional so that all of our systems
are weakened en mass. If you want to opt out of this
mess, start now with some varieties of reconfiguring.
Besides, every time you reinstall your system, you are
probably wiping it clean of a whole slew of invasive
elements.
Some nice enhancements which can confuse enemy infiltrations
are listed here:
Defragment your drive
Partition your drive
Edit your registry & System files
Install bug fixes
Use ResEdit on your Mac to change programs.
Use RegVac on your PC
Never rely on just one web browser
Avoid all Microsoft products at any cost
Change your email address every few weeks
Change computer systems every few years
Reformat your entire drive system every few months
Sort out your programs and discard what doesn't work
Always delete programs that cause odd errors
Use your brain.
Convert ProTools files
Last June someone asked about converting ProTools files to AIFF and the only responder suggested they download the free ProTools from DigiDesign. But the free one doesn't work in Win2K and I'm stuck there. Am I stuck paying $800 for ProTools Digi 001? I have to use ProTools files -- can't I convert them somehow to Cakewalk Sonar?
