What is the best mixing software to create CDs

What are the good mixing programs. I would like to create CD's by being able to mix tracks together. I now use Multiquence/Goldwave to do this, but I need easier to use features. I would also like to get creative by adding sound effects to the tracks and other cool stuff. I make make CD's for myself from LP's, CD's, MP3's (converted to WAV), Realplayer files (converted to WAV) and I would like a wider selection of features now that I have had my hand at this. Try Soundforges' Acid 3.0. You can record and loop your own samples in it. I think they have a demo on this site.

Merge wav-tracks

I am an opera-lover. I have a lot of complete operas on CD and I would like to convert them to MP3 and write/burn them to CD-R. I have a good MP3-player connected to my Hi-Fi equipment where I can play them.
There are problems for doing this. I take the opera "Das Rheingold" by Richard Wagner for instance. It is recorded on two CD'S, containing each 25 tracks. These tracks have just one purpose: finding easily and in a fast way some parts in the recording. By normal listening you do not need the tracks. There are no blanks between them. The score of the opera is continuous and the music does not stop when jumping from one track to the next.
When I convert the CD's to MP3 –track by track- and I burn them to a CD, the result is disappointing. When jumping from one MP3 file to the next, gaps and small missing parts distort the recording.
I found a lot of information about splitting wav-files. What I would like to do is just the contrary: merge 25 wav-files to ONE big wav-file and converting this big file to ONE MP3-file.
You can merge wav-files with Easy CD Creator but the program has a serious bug: it cuts a fraction of a second at the end of each track! Besides, you cannot save the merged wav-file to your hard disk. You must burn it directly to a CD.
Could you help me in this matter? Do you know of any audio converting and/or burning-program allowing me to make the right MP3-files?

Hi,

What you need, or atleast one of the possible ways is an audio editor or a multitrack editing software. Cool edit or soundforge as audio editors or acid, cubase, cakewalk, n-track, etc as multitrack editing software. The reason I say OR, is because you can use either method. I personally would do it in cool edit, a pretty simple audio editing software, atleast simple in the merging sense. What you can do is convert those mp3s to waves, and once they're in wave format, you can open up two windows of cool edit, dedicate one of the windows for compiling the complete file, and the other to loading each track by track. What you can then do is a simple procedure of copy and paste. Open the first track in the compilation window, and open the second track in the track by track window, copy the 2nd track and paste it at the end of the compilation window's track, then load the 3rd track in the track by track window, copy, and paste it int he 1st window and so on, until yuo got all the tracks. The problem with this, is that its a manual procedure, and end result wave file will be HUGE!

If you are going to use the multitrack editing method, then its very simple. If yuo are using ACID Pro for example, load up all the waves one go, and have each wave asssigned to a different track as it does by default, and then lay the tracks down by the order you want through simple drawing and erasing tools, and then export that as a complete seperate track, wave or mp3.

I have my keyboard plugged in through the game port. When I hit a key the sound has a delayed response. I am using a virtual sound canvas. Also using Cakewalk, Power Tracks, etc.

The chances are, there is not a lot you can do about it. The reality is something called Latency (delay) from when the note is pressed to the eventuality of the sound making it to the monitors.

Solutions basically come in the form if decent Audio cards with low latency times although the operating system takes it toll as well.

Check out some cards from M-Audio which are very popular at the moment. Audio/Sound cards use up processing power as well so don't expect the world with a slow machine..

There are lots of programs which will take tracks off a CD and convert them directly to MP3. CDex is a free program I use and find it very good.

Web music recorder?! I'm not sure I understand your question, but I dont think that exists in the way I understand it. There are a few programs where musicians can get together and interact musicially online such as at Tonos.com and recently by digidesign (ProTools guys), but I dont quiet understand your question, and record what? audio from an individual's mic or line in input? midi? from software?

Maybe someone else knows more about it or maybe you can clarify your question, maybe I can help more.

Magix Music Problem

Recording VST Instruments in Cubasis VST 2.0

Does anyone else have trouble recording VST instruments in Cubasis VST 2.0? I can trigger, setup and hear all of them (Loopazoid, VB-1 ect..) but cannot get them to record to an audi track. I can record them to Soundforge with it runnin in the background! I am using a DMAN audi card.

Any ideas?

VST instruments are not needed to be recorded to Audio as your MIDI synths are.
Just make a mixdown in Cubasis and your VST instruments will be in the mix.

I have the same exact problem, the only solution I have is to actually record it using sound forge and then importing that sound file. If you find out how to get rid of this problem let me know, and I'll do the same for you.

Yes! Any music file that you can play on your computer, you can download to your Minidisc. Just do it the same way as with MP3s.
