Cant get cubase to work with windows xp.

I desperatley need help, ive just updated my windows me
to windows xp and now i cant get my cubase vst v 5 to run on it. i keep getting the error message :( entry point SMapls_EBP_12 could not be allocated in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll) ive tried uninstalling cubase and reinstalling it but that dosent work. ive tried runing the software with windows 98 in the compatible mode, no luck can you please help as im pulling my hair out. cole

Hi all,
I had the similar problem while running cubase with xp.
First it worked fine, after some problems I had to repair my windows xp. From that point onwards i got the same error (entry point SMapls_EBP_12 could not be allocated in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll).

Soution:
I uninstalled cubase completely, after that I ran setup cubase again and just chosed a different directory than offered by cubase (or where cubas have been installed before).
Now it works perfect :-))))

Hi,
A solution has already been said, but if u dont want to spend the time downloading u can do what i did. *WHATEVER U DO DO NOT REFORMAT*. If you have a computer magazine cover disc with Cubase 5 trial version on it, then uninstall your present cubase (which doesn't work), and install the trial. then install the proper cubase. this worked for me, as before i couldn't get cubase to run either.

I had the same problem and I ended up reformating my disk - Installed WinXP Sp's and all the other crap and it finally worked in 98 compatibilty mode. If you upgrade, alot of this stuff doesn't work right. I had massive problems with all my midi software, especially the hardware stuff when I went to XP. The Bad News, this might not work for you (reformating) but if you have the time, I suggest you try otherwise ... well, I'm typing this message on a computer running WinME.

Hi, I had the same problem . But there's something that you can try. According to Steinberg, there is a DLL named MROS432.DLL (in WINDOWS\SYSTEM32) that was installed by your previous 16 bit windows version (95,98, Me) and that is not compatible with Windows XP 32 bit system. A solution is to delete this DLL, then reinstall Cubase. This is an official solution given by Dave Nicholson (Steinberg Multimedia AG) and found on Steinberg Web site. Hope it works for you !

Hi, there's another solution that will certainly work : update your cubase vst 5.0 with the version 5.1 r1 on the steinberg official site. This update installs new MROS432.DLL that work. I tested this and it worked very well.

I just about got Cubase (5.1) to work with XP professional, updated from a stable Win 98 due to a Midiman USB interface. I made sure I had all the XP compatible drivers & XP updates first though. Now it works fine with instruments & effects even through a soundblaster live card!
