I JUST CLEANED UP SOME WAV FILES AND THEY GOT SAVED AS WRK FILES. I NEED TO GET THEM BACK TO WAVE. ACTUALLY I AM TRYING TO PUT THEM ON A MUSIC CD.

because wrk files, uses midi recordings too. So you can only convert the wave files which u used in the project. To convert all sound, (midi-wave) u should change your recording settings, change it to stereo mix, or what-u-hear, and then open another sound editor, click record, and in the cakewalk press play. if r u using external sound module, u should put its output to the line in plug on the sound card. so external midi will mix from line in, internal midi will mix from midi, wave files will mix from wave sliders on the virtual mixer on the computer, does that make sense?

Dumping Style files to Roland Keyboard

I am looking for a simple software program to dump style files to my new Roland EM-30 keyboard. I am computer literate but musically dumb.
The programs that I have tried so far will not even load the files which have an .STL extention. I have tried cheating by changing the file extension to .MID but that has not helped.
Can anyone out there give me a clue?

Yes, I can give u a clue, but it's a sad one :(
the em30 has a diskdrive, but no style-load function, so u can only load standard midifiles or additional styles made for the em serie. I'm sorry, but i know your problem because i just dumped my old em30 previous week, changed it for a em-55.

i'm lost: combining vocals with MIDI

i just bought a korg karma musicstation which has an onboard sequencer and MIDI in/outs. i also have an Imac with a mac compatible music studion program . i want to record and mix sounds on the korg and then somehow add vocals (no mic input on the korg) and eventually burn a cd. does anybody out there (probably everybody but me) know how to get vocals digitized and then mixed in with sounds from the korg? is there a piece of hardware i need or can i use the computers mic input.

as you can see i'm pretty much lost. any help is cherished.

Can't play music CD's

My CD-R/RW stopped playing music CD's. It appears that the disc is being read, but I get no audio from any playback software. All other software plays (audio) fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does this happen with all your music CDs? The reason
I ask is because some of the latest CDs have a special
protection system that won't let them work in a PC
but they do work in a regular CD player.

Some cd players do not accept CDR's or CDRW's if you want to play your copied disc in a normal cd player you will need to buy special 74 minute cdr's specifically for recording music.

how to get my cassettes to my computer and burn to cd burner ?

1. Get a good quality cassette deck, preferably a component deck with proper RCA phono outputs (labelled LINE OUT). If you can't get one, then find the best you can. You need the best quality possible to make it worthwhile - Garbahge In, Garbage Out

2. Connect said casstte deck to LINE IN on sound card

3. Check settings to make sure LINE is selected as source

4. Get hold of suitable recording software (Cool Edit etc. - look in the software section under AUDIO RECORDING)

5. Record each track individually and save in WAV format

6. Burn required WAV files to CD using suitable software (Nero Burn, Easy CD Creator).

I can't make it much simpler than that.

Yes. All you need to do is establish the connections on both devices. The computer's Audio Ouput will either have a Phono (RCA) connectors on the back (two) OR a minijack stereo. Check the input on the Minidisk and get the lead. Both the soundcard and the mindisk will work at a line level (Might have to select) therefore the recording should sound good.

Some MD recorders have an Optical SP/DIF input and some computer soundcards have a Coaxial SP/DIF output. Although one is optical and the other is coaxial (phono/RCA plug) the format is the same. You will need to obtain an Optical to Coaxial tp Optical convertor, they aren't that expensive.

It depends on whether you are serious about the recording quality. SP.Dif will sound the same as the original computer version although MD naturally compresses the sound of the recordings which may be evident to your ears. Try the Analogue version first and if you don't like the quality.. Go Digital...!
