Does any sequencer work with Win XP?

Yes i'm wondering which sequencer works on XP?
Cubase? Pro Tools?

Re: Does any sequencer work with Win XP?

: Yes i'm wondering which sequencer works on XP?

I use Cubase VST/32 5.1 on Win XP with service pack 1, and it works fine for me. I'm going to bung Cubase SX on this weekend (if I get time; I should be picking up a Roland XP80 tomorrow and I'll want to play with that) and that's made for 2000/XP, so I don't forsee any probs there...

I need software thnat records streaming video(real)

URL Snooper to find out the hidden URL of the streaming vidio, then
StreamBox VCR to download the file.
If you're thinking of converting the rm video to other format say
MPEG for viewing on your TV, forget it. It's time consuming & the video quality sucks.

Real media to mpg

I need software that can convert Relmedia file to mpg
does anyone know wich?

Re: Real media to mpg

: I need software that can recorde movie realplayer from the internet : does anyone know wich?

Re: Real media to mpg

I have the same quest as the question above, and all I've come up with so far is a converter for some types of real player audio files. It is easy to find, just search for a free download called Streambox, and you'll find the download file called "Streambox Ripper.exe" .

It's still not the answer to the question though.
What I'm still looking for is something that will take a real vidio file (.ram), and convert it into something that I can view without having to use that piece of shit realplayer or realone software. Those bastards at real are the worst nightmare for all of us on the internet. The software changes all my settings and preferances and they spy on me(monitor programs) and use my phone line without asking and require constant updates, hit me with pop-ups, ect ect ; they suck!
Maybe I should try finding a "real-player-sucks" site, and maybe I can get a tip on how to avoid installing their invasive pain-in-the-ass software, but still convert their stuff to a usable format.
I feel better now.
I am calm.
I wish I had hacking skills. I'd try and write something myself to frig-up real-one.
If your a good hacker, stop working on that virus that will inconvenience me for 15 minutes, and start working on something to make Real-One files usable with a standard player. That will change the world. If you want to watch streaming stuff from anyplace in the world right now, then you MUST put that real crap on your machine, and put up with all that crap.

I'm done now. If I come up with something, I'll post it here.

Re: Real media to mpg

if you want to save rm file get a program called streambox vcr. it allows you to download stream video files and save them to your comp. it does rm,asx, asf and wmv files so that you van watch them at your leisure. it also helps those who have low bandwidth modems to download the hihbandwith movies to watch offline

Re: Real media to mpg

Easy now. :)

You'll never be able to convert .RAM files since they are metafiles (ie. small textfiles that contain the link to the RM file).

RAM files normally link to RM files on RealServers which makes it 'more or less' impossible to download/convert.

What you should know though is that the content creator have the option off letting you download/save the clip that you're watching to your harddrive but 99% off them choose not to.

If the content creators enabled the 'save to disk feature' (or whatever it's called) you can go to Play and select Record. If you can't record it that means that the creators of the stream don't want you to download/save it so it's not RealNetworks that wants to give you a hard time, but the content creators.
(On the other hand. If I was a content creator I wouldn't want my users to save the clip onto their harddrive either.)

If RM files are streamed from a web server you will always be able to download the file though.
If you open up the RAM file in BB Edit/any text editor you'll find the URL for the RM file.

Download the file and do a simple search on the net to see if you can find something that will convert the RM to mov, mpeg or avi.

Stay cool.

hmm

i've got a bit of a problem here if my friend found a program that where able to download the rm file from the real-server-thing but it's picture qvality is really low.

then if I try to click on the RAM link it gives me a nice picture and great sound

how can this be, do the damn server tnow that i'm trying to get this clip?

Re: Real media to mpg

Thank you for your help...
but you haven't answered the question.

Here I have a CDROM full of .RAM files.
I have real player so I can read them (and I don't need to be connected internet!)...
I agree with you: maybe they simply are .rm files renamed to .ram! However I need to convert them to .mpeg!
The real problem is that I haven't again bee able to find a converter from .ram (or .rm) to mpeg!
Do you know any?

I may have a solution

"Use goldwave audio editor, open up the real video file and save the sound as uncompressed wav file. Use tmpgenc setting the real video file as the video source and the audio file you saved as the audio source and that will combine them into a great mpeg file"

-Found this on a message board. Am looking for this 'tmpgenc' app now. Will post follow up.

looking for the right software

I would like to be able to mix my own cd's based on tracks from my cd collection. I want to use beats that I can loop, combine them with vocals off another and add layers of other beats and vocals if desired. Basically I want to do what 4 turntables and two mixers can do only using my cd collection and my pc instead. What software package best suits my needs?

Re: looking for the right software

Error message

I downloaded the sample version of Dart Karaoke Author and have been experimenting with creating a CD+G track from a wav file. I get all the way through typing in and synchronizing the lyrics. When I click on "create a CD+G file", it gets about 60% through the process and I get an "invalid page fault" error message. The program then shuts down. What's going on? Thanks for any help.

Re: mp3's to convert to cda

At this momoent, it's difficult to say which CD burning programs will work with XP. The two most common are Nero Burn and Easy CD Creator. Your best bet is to check on their respective websites for XP compatibility.

As for MP3 converters, there are literally hundreds in the software section. XP compatibility is unlikely to be a problem. If you want a free one, CDex does the job. One thing you will notice is that the conversion is to WAV format, not CDA. A CDA file is basically a WAV file with some track info (title, artist etc) added for CD players which can read CD Text, so there's no need to bother with CDA. Just convert to WAV and burn it.

Re: mp3's to convert to cda

I am attempting to make an audio CD for a friend using mp3 tracks off my computer. Would it work if I converted these mp3 files to .wav files and then copied them onto a CD-R, or do i need to go through a more complicated process?

Roxio Spin Doctor

When I try to launch Spin Doctor(Platinum 5) get an error message saying soundcard is in use by another application. Have tried stopping all other progs ( except explorer ) but to no avail. Any ideas anyone?
Also problem in CD Creator with copying mp3s from cdrom direct to audio cdr. Works ok but no sound on resulting CD!!

Really appreciate any ideas. Ta.

Re: Roxio Spin Doctor

I had the same problem trying to record LP's to MP3. I solved my problem by double clicking the speaker icon in the system tray to bring up the volume control window. Select "Options">"Properties">"Record" (this is Windows XP - other versions might be different). I found that I had microphone selected instesd od line in. It worked great after that.

Re: Roxio Spin Doctor

I had similar experience. I went into Device Manager(Win '98 SE), and turned off "Voice Modem" under sound card, game controller option. Then made sure that RCA jack was in tape out on receiver, and phono jacks were in phono input on receiver. Did a preview sound test and vwolla!, it worked!

Hope this helps.

Can you burn streaming audio files from the internet onto a CD?

If you can, how do you do it?

Re: Can you burn streaming audio files from the internet onto a

: If you can, how do you do it?

Yes you can. Firstly you need to get Total Recorder
to record a WAV file of the live stream, then any
of the software in the CD BURNERS area of this site
will let you burn the WAV file to CD.
