Convert MIDI files etc for Yamaha Clavinova Pianos

Can anyone help with advice on the conversion of MIDI files which will allow the tracks to be saved onto a floppy disc and played in a Yamaha Clavinova piano.

i cant get the sampler in reason to play back, ive loaded samples into it but there doesnt seem to b any play or preview button. i'm assuming that i shouldnt have to fiddle with the connections in the back coz evrything else is ready to play. also i recently bought a midi keyboard and cable and dont know whether to plug into midi in or out on the back of the keyboard (i'm new to all this tech stuff!) i'd appreciate any helpful replies

Try going to the arrange part of reason, at the bottom, and draw in some notes on the samplers track. It should work then and if it doesn't then maybe you haven't loaded the sampler properly or have changed it's routing to the desk. Hit tab and follow the leads to see where they go. Make sure they are running to an input on the mixer.

What computer do you have? this makes a difference with midi routings. The general gig is to plug the midi OUT from the computer to the midi IN on the keyboard, The midi OUT from the keyboard to the midi IN on the computer. This will allow you to send information to reason and receive note date from the computer back to the keyboard. If the keyboard is a controller only and has no sounds, just plug the midi OUT from the keyboard to the midi IN on the computer. You will have to tell reason where the midi information is coming from. If you use a Mac, then install OMS as this will route your midi to and from any midi application if you have OMS turned on in the application.

soft synth gone missing

midi out from cubase 3.5 to roland vsc88 softsynth has been removed (from cubase outs) along with midi out to SB sound card synth when demo version of cubase 5 installed (from computer music mag. cd) Roland soft synth can be accessed to play midi files direct - but not from cubase. How do i get this cubase output back. Help

Try the midi settings on Cubase.
Enable midi, repost if no details about SB midi out is available...

Usually on MIDI SETUP you can set the primary midi settings.
That's when you're in Cubase. Before running cubase, open SETUP MME and uncheck everything besides your soundcard's midi in, & soundcard's midi synth out.
Demo versions usually have same functions with retails...

Have you looked in the file areas yet??

You could go and look in the file area on this board under Mp3. There you will find lots of utilities that will allow you to bend/stretch/mutilate Mp3 files. You convert them into wave files and then recompress them at the desired 128kbps although 5000 mp3's is going to take some time and a lot of HD space juggling...

It's worth in the future having a look in file areas in general as, the answer to a lot of peoples questions is usually sitting there waiting for them, Go check it out...

It might help if you categorize thie song, is it rap, R&B, rock, folk, jazz, country etc.

Personally, I find non-tech questions refreshing (don't mind a broader forum), but am still kind of amazed at how many people are search-engine ignorant: just put a line or two of the lyrics in quotes, and google (the most reliable engine) will spit back all EXACT occurences -- the City High answer took maybe 20 seconds....

I am trying to install a MP3 player on a G4 MAC. OS 8.6. All the files I download - whether .bin, .sit, or .hqx give the error they cannot open because the application program that created it cannot be found. I have also tried downloading .sea files for extracting compressed files. I get an error -39 when I try to open the .sea files. Unfortunatley I do not have a internet access on the MAC so I am downloading from a PC and transferring on disk to the MAC. Please help.

Are you talking about a hand held player, cause if you aren't I'm going to find you and give you a good smacking.

assuming you are, you can use isoBuster to create an image of a cd from the MP3 files, then us Virtual CD to load the image as a new drive letter (because the cd is virtual, it can be as big as you want so you can do all your songs)
then use any mp3 ripping tool to re rip the music a 128 bit

What you need is Aladdins Stuffit expander (link below). This will allow you to open most if not all compressed file formats known to man. Stuffit is generally included with browsers therefore if you download something with a browser, then the browser will automatically unstuff the file for you. If you have problems obtaining stuffit over the net, through the PC more to the point, then check mac magazine front cover CD's as they always have a copy of it on there.

Do a sherlock search for Stuffit. The chances are you already have it...

Anyone got suggestions of plugins or software available for effectivley manipulating the 3D quality of multitrack arrangements for stereo CD. i.e. I am working on a stereo CD mix of a periphonic 8channel sound installation.(I use Logic Audio on Apple G3 with both Motu2408 and Audiowerks8 soundcards and work primarily with audio files, in this case ambient site recordings.)
