There are several free programs you can use to rip CD's. One of my favorites is RealJuke Box. You can down load it for free, save cda formats in .wav or Mp3.

Re:
If you're interested in partial or total self-controlled computer music synthesis there is a guy that made such a computer and for a few million $ it can be yours. More seriously, if you want to try varius samples on varius position within a song, you should make some mark points and manually feed the samples, or load your samples in a sequencer & loop record them. Finally, the best way to just play a sample & hear a song played using it is:
Write (or load) a midi song, load Cubase, use a virtual instrument and associate it with the midi track you like, load your sample to your virtual instrument & hit play...
Re: I REALLY NEED SOME HELP PLEASE
Because it's a film there's always the chance they just made up the software. I saw Swordfish the other day and they really stretched credibility with some of the computer set-ups there (not to mention Hugh Jackman's hacking).
If you go to the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/DRUMS_PERCUSSION/">drum section</a> you'll find a few programs that can make samples/loops out of other samples. But I'm not sure if it will be exactly what you're looking for.

Rogue slurs in Encore
Does anyone know how to get rid of the rogue slurs in Encore 4.0 that seem to plague about 90% of the pages that I print off? They exist on the screen, I can "delete" them, then they appear on the hard copy.
Background Song Ideas for Video
Hi! I work for a Humane Society and we are putting together a video. We just completed our capital campaign and we are going to show the video during an event to thank all the donors who contributed to the new shelter and show them what we can do in our new shelter. The video will show clips of people and animals using the shelter - adopting an animal, bringing in an injured wild animal, etc. I am looking for ideas for songs to be played in the backgroud while the video is rolling. Any thoughts? Maybe something inspirational or something upbeat possibly animal related but not necessarily. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Re:
If the video has a dramatic & continuous chain of events (& it's longer than 10 mins), maby it would be a good idea to use a mixer app with music that follows the viewer's emotions for every clip separately, with a third track (crossfaded with the 1st clip's music) starting some seconds before the end of the clip & ending some secs after the new clip has started (crossfade again). This is a common technique but when used properly makes a nice theme out of different songs.
You should talk about the particular songs with people of your society (looking for what the donators might expect is good but not enough), but I would suggest:
Classical (for the third tracks)
From Mahavishnu Orchestra (Apocalypse - Trident Sessions), Iommi's last year album (fast scenes) to jazz classics like Miles Davis - All Blues.
If you got a lot of time, try synchronizing some of the motion in the video with the music...
Re:
The last 3 (1 is a double CD) Steve Vai CDs were good soundtrack material too (the song Rumble - S. Vai with Chick Corea is good too but only for high speed Cheetah chase docuntaries)...
Re: Background Song Ideas for Video
That song from Dr Doolittle...
if i could talk with the animals, walk with the animals...

Record from sound card to tape player
I have a SoundBlaster Live card. I want to record from the sound out to a tape recorder. But when I tried the output signal is to strong and the tape recorder can't handle it. What can I do?
Thanks
Re: Record from sound card to tape player
Go into the volume controls for Windows and then adjust output volume. Also if your tape deck has a record level turn it down to the desired level.

What Software can change ur Line In to Out?
hey, is there anybody in the world that can help me fnd a free downloadable audio prgram which will let me change my line In port to an out! having this will allow me to have 4 speakers rather then two on my system. any help at all would be apreicative, thank u peeps, keepwell, WEZ ;-)
hmmmm....
I doubt it's possible as the line in and out on most devices are electronically routed and hardwired to be what they are. I'm not saying it's not possibly full stop... just extremely unlikely...
If you just want four speakers, why don't you get an amplifier that can run more than a stereo set. If you want it for 4 seperate outputs then you will need to look into multi in/out audio interfaces but these may only be addressable as seperate outputs from within a compatible a audio application.
Good luck

Convert MIDI into audio files????
Hi,
How can I convert my MIDI files in an audio file in an arrangement (including MIDI AND audio tracks), in order to create a stereo file to burn a CD????
Thanx
Re: Convert MIDI into audio files????
Midi "can't" actually be converted as such as it's generally "note information" only. It's used as an instruction to give to midi devices like synths/samplers and drum machines (etc...) so they know what they should be playing.
What you need to do is send the midi information to a midi device that will turn that information into sound that can be recorded, and then burnt to Cd. If the information is of a piano piece for instance, you would need to send it to a synth or soundcard (etc...) with a piano sound selected and then record that audio, understand?
There is no other way of doing it...
Regards
Steve...R
&
Some virtual instruments can import user defined samples in order to play midi information, they allow themselves to be more humiliated by master effects, and after beeing recorded, to produce wav files. You say wow & that's how far it goes.
The reverse method (Wav to Mid) is more painfull & works best if you play 2 notes per week...
beats
can someone tell me which drum software program is the best to make some beats. please let me know.
Thanks

music software for remixing
is there any software that lets you add your vocals to a song thats on the radio and have your part along with the real artists.Like a remix.......instead of there verse it would be your verse than it goes back to theres?????
Re: music software for remixing
Yeah, there's heaps of programs. I would recommend nuendo which is a multi-track recording program. You can open up the song you want to add the vocals to on track 1 and record your vocals on track 2. Then export it as one file to wav or mp3.
How to rip off commercial tracks
Ok, you will need either two things. Depends which method you use.
1. Wave editor
2. Audio sequencer/remixer
Method 1:
You will need: Soundforge and ACID
1. Get a recording (Napster/CD whatever).
2. Chop out the parts that have no vocals and trim them into perfect loops OR use a vocal remover
3. Arrange in ACID with your own or downloaded loops.
4. Record vocals into ACID.
Method 2:
You will need:
Cubase VST
1. Get a MIDI version (ultimatemidi.com, etc)
2. Run the MIDI tracks through your own synths (soundfonts)
3. Reprogram the drums or use drum loops, add flourishes, rearrange etc
4. Record vocals into Cubase
Which one's easier? Well, the Cubase VST one is.
1. You don't have to worry about the original vocals
2. All instrument section are preconfigured into loops
3. All tracks are separated
4. Offers the greatest flexibility
HOWEVER - it is very hard to sound like the original song
Depends how much you want to sound like the original.
<a href="http://drk-sum.50megs.com" target="_top">drk_sum.com</a>
Multitracking...
If you don't mean ripping off the vocals from a commercial track so you can insert your own then all you need is a simple Multitrack program... Cubase is available as a demo download from this site which would allow you to insert the original music on a stereo track and then add as many mono/stereo tracks as your computer can handle. Doing this at home these days is as common as muck....
Enjoy

Re: music software for remixing
You mean take out the original vocals in places? Very difficult and only works if the vocals are bang in the centre of the mix - there are programs that try to do this - try http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm - still haven't worked out how to do the link thing ...
No Sound
The software installed and I can play wav files but there is no sound in whopsee. Please advise.
Thanks
