SeaSound Solo
I have a SeaSound Solo and I have Windows 2000. Can anybody tell me if they work together?
Thanks
QUOTE
Chuck,
Just got this news from the seasound site... QUOTE
"6/29/01 Unfortunately SeaSound is no longer in business. This page is hosted as a courtesy to current owners of SeaSound
products and those considering using these great sounding, albeit defunct, interfaces.
SeaSound phone lines, mailing address and email address are now non-functional. Updates to Tech support FAQ and links to future
user forum will be posted in the future here"
They go on to say...
"When will Windows ME, 2000 WDM, XP, NT or GigaSampler drivers be released?
The Solo/Soloist /Expander are currently supporting Win 95, 98 and 98SE.
Windows ME, 2000, XP, XP, NT and GigaSampler driver development has been suspended, so no firm date of completion can be given yet. Some users report success with using current driver with ME, but it is not officially supported.
Sorry to break the news. This second bit of information wasn't dated so there might be drivers out there somewhere...
Good luck

I tried a couple of times to get info about the Seasound Solo from their customer service and each time received a one line reply - I'm not surprised they went out of business

Notation Software Problem
Hello everyone. I hope that you can direct me to the appropriate list or maybe this is it. I use multitracking software that also scores. I'm looking
for a program that will notate what you are playing via your midi keyboard, and will score the notes as long as you hold the sustain pedal down. IN OTHER WORDS, if I play a note, hold the sustain pedal down and release the note, the program will continue to score for as long as I hold the sustain pedal down VS stop notating when I release the note with my finger, even though the note is STILL sounding because the sustain pedal is being pressed. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your help.
Re: Notation Software Problem
I have Finale 2000, Encore 4.1.1, SonarXL 1.0, Cakewalk PA 9.03, Logic 5.0, Cubase 4.
I can't get any of them to hold the notation for as long as I hold down the sustain pedal. They are ALL set to Controller #64 which is sustain. Kozida, are you saying that I need to change from that?
Thanks
Re:
You have to assign your pedal as a controller in your multitracking software's midi options. Depending on the sequencer you can set it to stop recording at specific points manually (ie 10 sec after song ends).
Since you don't mention the sequencer's name, these are the solutions I can think of...
is there any style for wk2 oriental ??

Re: Fruityloops3 automation

And if you need to know how to make it i will send you an example....
First Time Guitar Buyer!
Please can anyone give me advice on a good, inexpensive, beginners guitar to get. I have never owned a guitar, and can play absolutely nothing on one. If it is a bad idea to just go and buy a guitar when you don't know how to play, then please give me some alternate ideas before I make the purchase.
Thanks in advance.
Re: First Time Guitar Buyer!
I plan on keeping up my practice if I do buy a guitar, since this is really something I would be interested in doing. I checked out the other forum, I guess maybe this post would have been more appropriate over there ;). Thank you everyone for the helpful posts.

Seconded...
Just to second what Kozida said. It's important that you learn the basics on a simple guitar. My friend's father bought him a hideously expensive first guitar that he spent a few months learning and then gave up. This is the problem with lots of people starting to play an instrument. Their intentions for the long haul although they give up when the reality that they can't actually sound like they hear.
Buy yourself a simple nylon strung guitar, (used is fine as you will have to spend less) and get those fingers stretching..! Nylons guitars are good to learn on as they generally have the largest fret boards which demands a lot of stretching but it's easier to see chords because of the size. Learning on an electric is all very well but when you come to a larger necked guitar (acoustic) then you will struggle. Once you have learnt the major/minor and seventh chords then you can start playing songs. Once you have a bit of rythmn under your belt, then you can reward yourself with something that actually sounds nice like a Yamaha APX..
Good luck AND stick at it... The first few months are the worst but as the years roll on, you will thank your perseverance

Re:
It may sound strange but what you need for now is a low budget guitar. Even if you are the next Steve Vai you must focus on a standard guitar (the brand is your choice) in order to get used with the guitar concept (your fingers versus the fretboard). You should know that music never ends, meaning you can't say that's enough practise for me, or that you can easily get away from it once you're hooked. With that in mind, I can only say that I'm looking forward for the same message from you after some years.
You see the hard thing is to keep playing music, not to start doing it (don't get this wrong, if you think music is your thing you should try everything).
I still play my guitars after 16 years of pain (& bliss)...
Re:
Hey, thank you for the response! I appreciate all the help you're providing and I will take this information into consideration. The question was actually for 2 people, since my sister is the one who wants to buy a guitar, but I'm helping her. I would also like to purchase one and learn to play in the future, since I have some musical (no guitar) knowledge and some experience in piano. Again thanks for the advice. ;)

Re:
Hat tip (coincidental):
I started playing the guitar after 8 years of fooling around with keyboards & if half the good things friends tell me about my music is true, you & your sister might have an extraordinary & furtile musical creativity era ahead of you.
BUT
Remember a basic rule of the Musician's Ethics Encyclopaedia:
Don't trust music companies' expertise opinions, they just sell tasteless cookies to the hungry. Play the music that you love to play and she (music is a greek word of the female genre) will never dissapoint you.

Pins dont connect
On my previous message below in early July I wanted to know what Pins Cant connect meant. I tried to contact the person who answered me. Could you please post your email again as I seem to get the wrong person at hotmail.
Thanks

Yep, I got your e-mail, but since you didn't said much I thought you were mistaken (if you think I'd remember a nickname after almost a month, guess again, sorry anyway). E-mail me again (same address)for details...
AN IMPORTANT NOTE THAT CAN HELP ME (& OTHERS) HELP YOU...
When you post messages requiring advice remember to:
1 Write the program's name you're talking about (the oracles have better things to do).
2 Give a small desciption of your system & soundcard.
3 Give all the details about the problem you can.
4 Post silly questions. They are ok (we all been there, some of us still there), but it won't hurt to scroll down the page & actually SEE if someone asked about the same subject.
This was posted after replying to a lot of messages with little or no details, which resulted in big and perhaps useless replies.
(I am just a user & I am not associated with the creators or this site)
Re: AN IMPORTANT NOTE THAT CAN HELP ME (& OTHERS) HELP YOU...
Shouldn't that be DON'T post silly questions?
On the rest, I quite agree. A lot of the answers can easily be found with just a little
effort.

AudioMulch feedback/static
When I use AudioMulch real-time I get a static background noise. Is there a way besides adjusting the levels, to rid this. I use Sound Forge 4.5 with no problems. Thanks for your time.

VB-1.dll and Cubasis VST
Got the software bundled with an SB Platinum Live! 5.1 downloaded the plugin and it's only ever worked once?!?
Karlette works fine, but Cubasis won't even recognise VB-1.dll under the effects menu. What's going? I've tried dropping it onto Regserver32 and been into the registry and deleted all references before going for a re-isntall, but it still doesn't work. Any help would be good as this is driving me mad.

help please-Cubase related
Hi, the problem is when I want to record lyrics on to a track I do not want all the other tracks (i.e. 1-9) recorded onto the track I am recording the lyrics on (i.e. 10). I could mute the track I am recording the lyrics on but then I would not hear the track while i'm recording the lyrics. It has worked in the past the way I like (hearing everything but only recording the track I select) but now it doesn't and I don't know what I have to do. Please help me. Thank you.

I dont know what soundcard you are using but if its a Soundblaster it sounds like you've got 'What you hear' ticked in the mixer, which means 'everything' you hear will be recorded.
You need only to tick 'wav' to record your vocals on to its own track.
If your not using a Soundblaster card then I dont know what the problem is.

Look in the mixer of your soundcard. If you have selected wave as the recording input, all the tracks playing back may be recorded onto the new track.
Impossible...
... to understand how to answer this as you have omitted the audio application, computer, sound input, you are using, (which is obviously, paramount). You have to include as much information about your system in order for people that maybe able to help, know what is in front of them.
Also, lyrics are in fact the words rather than the vocal audio itself therefore it's worth making the point of explaining if you do infact mean Audio, or not. Whatever the audio file contains will not change the fact that the answer to your question will be the same so whether it's lyrics, vocal or guitar, it makes no odds.
I see so many people posting here with NO information on the studio they are using. No two studios are the same and therefore they should be laid out for the replier to see otherwise you may not deserve an answer at all ;0)

They Don't Delete -
July 22nd 2001.
I use empty & formatted CD-RW's with these CD-Burning softwares, Nero Burning Rom ver. 5 (newest demo)
or the Adaptec's Easy CD Creator 4.0 (registered)
to copy files onto my CD-RW's. Whether I copy 5 files or 50 files ( 10 meg of files )The CD-RW STILL will say (0) zero bytes available will in the CD Recorder. Why?? And... Why can't I delete Individual files on a CD-RW ?
Re: They Don't Delete -
The title is right. They can't be deleted.
You can make a CD-RW work like a hard disk with utilities included in both nero and easy cd creator packages.
The only glitch is that they use some system resources.
converting .RMX files to .MP3s
I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on how to convert realJukebox (.RMX)file types to a .MP3 file type. The realjukebox files are from when i recorded my cds on to the computer and it gave that .RMX extension. Do you have to have certain software that will convert it? I already tried to go windows explorer and change the file type. Can anyone help? Please!
Convert Wave to Dolby
I am wanting to Convert Wave CD (audio) to Dolby surround. What do I need? Thanks for your assistance.
Re: Convert Wave to Dolby
You can't convert CD audio (2-track stereo) to Dolby Surround (5-channel), since there's no way to "create" the missing three channels.

Midi Volume
I am using a midi file as background sound on my web site, however it plays too loud and I am trying to find a way to lower the volume of the file... it seems to play softer on Netscape (but not as "musical")
www.newvoiceclub.org
Re: Midi Volume
Do like Steve...R said and download a midi sequencer.
His trick of decreasing the note velocities will work. Something else to try is reducing the channel volume for each track. Midi files can contain volume information for each channel. Look in the controller section of the sequencer and look for controller #7, the volume controller.
The only way I can think...
Is to load up the midi file into a midi sequencer (lots on this site) and select all the notes and reduce the 'velocity'. Try increments of about 20 (out of 127) and see if that helps.
There maybe an HTML command to use but I don't know much about that stuff..

opening downloaded program
i've just downloaded octomed and i can't open it what do i
need to do to unlock this little nugget.
any help would be treasured thank you from a novice.
What extension is it??
Is it a .ZIP file... If so you can use Stuffit expander on the mac which comes with the mac OS, or a .ZIP compression program like WinZip on the pc. There are lots to download, check www.cnet.com download area if you are stuck.
