I've never done it but I think you have a Word Clock input and output on your 1212 plus an ADAT time code input. I would look carefully at the manual with regard to these two facilities. I have the same card but I don't have an ADAT so I sync all my Midi related devices with MTC boosted from my Sequencer...

My problem is that I could record audio files directly into cubasis but now it wont work because it doesn't give any readings at all

I WAS able to add WMA files to cd's. I had to reload the software and now adaptec EASY CREATOR won't recognize or add the WMA files. (HOURS SPENT LOADING!!)

My cd-writer hp8100i and cyberdrive cdrom don't work under RealplayerJukebox (Plus-version). They do under WindowsMediaPlayer7 and other (music)programs. Jukebox won't recognize any cd's in both drives. The Real-helpdesk suggested several solutions, but they don't solve the problem on my pc (P3/500). Does anybody have a simular experience and, I may hope, a definite answer?

Hi there

Forget sound recorder. Try an audio recorder/editor such as <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>. It will be a lot better for you.

QuickTime 5 trial expired, now QT 4 won'topen

QT v5 was fine for a month or so, then one day when I powered up , my G3 PoweerMac desktop said "QT installation failed because this beta versin has expired, see http apple QT for a newer version. When i go to Apple's download page, i get "an error occurred while trying to load the file VISE Data. The download has been aborted 1076:13,-43 file not found". Apple won't help me unless I pay them 50 bucks for tech support. Wish I'd never donloaded their**(^*%&*)* QT v5, any advice out there?

I had exactly the same problem trying to install Acrobat Reader 5 and Quicktime 5. Exactly the same error message. I think it has something to do with the firewall my company has installed.

When I downloaded a self-contained installer of Quicktime 5, it worked fine. But Reader still won't install.

If you find something out, let me know. Good luck.

I believe Apple had a warning on their QT downloads page that the QT 5 trial version will replace your previous version on your HD. You have to download the older fully working version again. To be sure of no more problems, you might want to erase all trace of QT 5 before downloading another version. The easiest way I know of making sure you get everything out is by doing a search for Quick Time on Sherlock 2 (if you don't have this newer version, obviously download this first ! I don't know if you can do this with normal Sherlock) and then simply select everything to do with Quick Time 5, then drag them to the Trash directly from Sherlock 2 - probably best if you also empty the trash before installing older version. Let me know if this worked.

Soundcards

I'm looking for a soundcard mainly for use with CuBase. Is the Steinberg ST2496 the best to go for?Some people have suggested the Creative Labs Platinun Live is a better card?

For soundcards look into rme, echo, midiman, egosys,seasound, and motu.

Those soundblaster cards arent very good for pro audio.rme seems to have a quite good reputation for performance, and infact I think they made some soundcards for steinberg though I dont know if the 24/96 is one of those. If it is thats the way to go. Id avoid the sb live if your into audio at all.

If you record audio DONT get a soundblaster.

BUT BUT BUT...

What you may want to do is get the soundblaster value AND a good soundcard such as the rme hammerfall. then you can use the soundfonts and record good audio through the rme. I myself may look into the new soundblaster for mac so I can use soundfonts. Still, I record my audio on a digi 001.

Plays on home stereo but not in car stereo

I have burned a few CD's from MP3's and converted them to wav for the proper format. How ever when I play it in my car it does not work. I can play it in my home stereo and other peoples car stereos but not in my car cd player. I have played other peoples burned CDs in my car before. Any suggestions?

The only suggestion I'd make is trying differnet brands of CDR's. I had this same problem, ie some CDR either didn't work or found it difficult to pick up and skip tracks.

If your using blue discs, try gold, silver or a combination. I eventually settled on Ricoh's or Kodak Gold CDR's.

Out of intrest what brand is you car CD player???

there are no upgrades.Just talked with gvox(gvox.com) or call at 215 922 0880 and talked to tech support.They have CD rom discs at $59 but the CD won't work on older Macs...whcih is my problem in that I have an old Mac which is dedicated to my MIDI system.
My problem is that floppy 2 is not working. Could you lend me yours or make a copy whioch I will gladly pay for?I loive this program but can't re-load it which I have to do now.

I can't seem to get an answer to this. I have a new Compaq Presario with a cd burner, and want to transfer some of my vinyl stuff into it so I can burn it onto cd's. How do I connect the turntable to the computer?
There is a microphone jack that takes a standard 1/8" stereo plug. Can I just connect the turntable to that and use my recording program to transfer? Do I need a preamp in betweenn, or an amplifier, or is there enough output from the Shure M91ed magnetic cartridge to be picked up by the computer? Please advise. Thanks. Robert

You need to use an amplifier. There is not enough output from the cartridge alone. The best article I've seen on how to transfer the music from lp's, tapes, etc., etc. was in the December 2000 issue of Computer Shopper. Very clear and concise. While they based most of the article on using Adaptecs Easy CD Creator, they did mention other prodjcts as well. Basically, you need to connect your stereo equipment to your computer, outputs to computer line in. Double click on the volumn control icon in the computer tray (at bottom right of screen). There are controls in there that need to be either adjusted, selected or muted. Really, try to find the article. Hope this helps even a little bit.

I have a Compaq Presario 5140 with onboard graphics with no AGP port. I bought a PCI Riva TNT2 cart, but it doesn't work.I activate all functions in the Bios, but it doesn't work,too. Please help me. (maybe with the jumpers)
