transfer old cassettes to cd

i would like to fathom how to transfer my old cassettes to cd..what do i need to do..do i need a program? i can actually play cassettes thru my pc via a tape deck thru the soundcard but cant work out how to record them to either wave or mp3s..any help appreciated..poi

napster to CDRW to cd player NG?

I built a play list from napster,
converted the files to wav in order
to create a custom cd playable on
any cd player. It wont play on a cd
player only winamp or jukebox et al. What up?

what's up? You've probably put the files onto the CD as MP3s or something, or you haven't closed the session, which can sometimes cause problems with cd players. so yeah, make sure you create an AUDIO cd and not copy to CD as MP3 or something...

Acid 2.0 Installation disk

When installing Sonic Foundry Acid 2.0 on my computer I get the message that I need to insert installation disk #2. Where is this disk? I know my house is a mess, but I sure can't find it. Does anyone out there have it, and if so is there a place where i can download the stuff and put it on a disk? Will this method work, or do i need an original disk?

Go to "hammersound.com", which has tons of free soundfonts for download, and provides links to lots of other places.

Downloading Nightmares!!!

I cannot download anything off this site. Im using DAP and have a 56k modem. My downloader first tells me that it is actually an HTML file and that i should click on open browser. Once i do this the downloader just leaves an empty file in my winzip, trying to unzip it gives me a message saying 'invalid archive'

This site doesn't support download programs. You have to download through Internet Explorer or Netscape.

One way would be to use Total Recorder. www.totalrecorder.com
It would record the file as you play it and offers MP3 or wav, etc conversion.

Cubasis VST Sync Problems with Soundblaster Live

I got Cubasis with my SBLive Platinum card. I am trying to
mix some 4-track audio tracks (no MIDI), add some effects & EQ to make a
demo CD for our band. Once the tracks are input to Cubasis,
the various tracks lose snyc randomly as they play. I was told that
if I sample the tracks at 48K instead of 44.1K, it should fix but
did not. Can anyone point to other settings to change? Very frustrating
especially since the software came WITH the SBLive card!! Thanks!

So, I would like to know if there is a pc-software that can remove singing from a song and to save it? I have heard few very nice bootlex mixes, where two songs are being combined so that the singing is from one and melody, loop, bass from other song.

YO! The singing is usually MONO, while the rest of the music is often STEREO. If you dont have the instrumentals, you might wanna try this: To 'kill' the lyrics in the song, reverse one channel (left or right) and convert the file to mono. The 'mono parts' will phase each other out, and the 'stereo parts' remain. (Some karaoke machines have this 'kill'function, it works just like this) It takes some testing and trying, but it can be done!! To extract the lyrics/singing from the other song, reverse this method.

let me know what softare you are using and the speed and type of your computer. to record with, it sounds like you may need to adjust it's buffer size.

MP3's sound bad using Creative's Playcentre 2

Hi,
I have a P3 - 700 with soundblaster live platinum and desktop theatre 5.1 speakers. A couple of months back i had downloaded Creative's playcentre 2 when it had just come out and i found it to be very easy to use and the MP3's used to sound really good. But sometime back i hear a lot of extra sounds like "wooden drums" in all the MP3's i play and the same MP3's play good using winamp or media player. I think this is because of some corrupt codec or something. I have tried reinstalling windows and playcentre both. can anybody tell me how to fix this problem?

Ram to avi convertors

Try using an avi as an activex object in a visual basic program. Afterwards, just rename that vb program to *.scr.

I have visited the sdmi web site but I only get the SDMI portable device ver 1.0. It is just a description on the portable but not the sdmi format or what is the frame.

Just purchased a G4-533. Need advice on Midi sequencer/audio editor and best midi interface deal. Should I buy a PCI card with audio in/out and Midi interface included? The new G4 does not have sound input. I don't want to spend a lot, I'm a retired musician, just doing it for the fun of music. I want to work with loops and a little Midi add ons from my GM synth and ASR-10 sampler.
