Opcode Studio 64XTC compatibility with Win98 1-st edition
Who can help me with sending a working Win98 driver for Opcode 64XTC midi interface? The problem is that the driver 1.01, or my computer, an Athlon 950 MHz with Asus K7V motherboard is maybe not compatible with the Opcode 64xtc Midi Interface.
All the tests I made with the 64xtc MSDOS utility <XTCdiag> are ok, the hardware receive and transmit
all the messages, the program buttons and the light diodes on the hardware work very well, also Logic Audio and Cubas show the Midi in and out ports, but is neither midi transmission, nor sync functions.
When I start the console -program <64xtc.exe>, the
computer send the message that the console
donôt find the xtc drivers, check the cables and the hardware.
The Com ports work with modems and IR units, the cables are OK.
I changed the cables with news ones, the hardware tests are OK, I changed the COM port for hardware input on the PC, I uninstalled and reinstalled
several times the console and the drivers, the Controlpanel Multimedia all Midi Ports are on place and says working well. I reinstalled Win98 first
edition on a new formatted hard drive without any others programs, for to exclude software incompatibility, the results are the same as described above, the console donôt find the drivers.
Thanks for all the answers,
Best regards

This is how to make the 64XTC work under Win98 or ME

You just need to modify a setting in your system registry for it to work.
Do this:
Click on START. the click on Run
Type in Regedit and click OK.
(Registry editor opens up the system registry)
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VCOMM
Change the setting so it reads:
"StaticVxD"="*VCOMM"
"Start"=hex:00
"EnablePowerManagement"=hex:00,00,00,00
Reboot, and work with the Studio 64XTC under Win98SE, and even ME.

Hi, there.
I am having the same problem with Mihai, the only difference is I am using Windows 2000 Professional. I went through the registry and followed every single step and to my dismay, my VxD reg folder didn't have VCOMM in it! Any suggestions?
Regards,
Trabye

I wish to send a HUGE thanks to M101 for that registry tip. I was pulling my hair out for 2 days trying to figure that issue out. Thank you, thank you... I made that adjustment, and I was up and running in minutes.
Thank you, thank you again!
Mike
