Re: Soundblaster Platinum Live!!
go to the soundblaster control panel and open "Recorder". connect your guitar leads into either the line in/ or mic in socket of your sound card. OPen mixer to set the right balance levels(do not go into the red). now press record on the recorder and start playing.
this now gives u a wav.file of your playing wich can then be used with the software of your cd/r and then u can burn your cd and viola! you now have a cd of your music !
hope this helps.

wrk file to mp3
how do i convert cakewalks wrk file to an mp3 or other format.
Re: wrk file to mp3
because a wrk file is like a midi file, it can't be directly converted - but you can use a program such as goldwave or cooledit to record the mixed output of your soundcard as the song is playing, save it as a WAV, and then encode to MP3 using a standard MP3 encoder program.

MIDI playback on external sound mudule via Soundblaster Live! Pl
Dear Reader
I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum card (and a Live! Drive II too). These are parts of my computer (Windows 98).
I also have an external MIDI sound module (Roland JV-1080)and here is my question. I want to use the game port on the backside of my computer (and not the Live! Drive II MIDI OUT in front) with a suitable adapter cable in the connection with the external sound module.
My adapter cable looks like this: (to card) - 15-pol male D-SUB - splits up to three different connecting plugs: Joystick (15-pol female D-SUB), MIDI IN, MIDI OUT.
My question: -Is it possible to use the Game port on the card when I want to connect to my external sound module (JV-1080, via MIDI OUT on the cable) and use the external module for MIDI-playback?
If the answer is yes, I kindly request You to tell me how I should configure it in Windows 98. Are there any information on any web page? I have really tried to find information about this problem in Creatives knowledge base page and relevants, but I couldn't.
Best regards, Andreas
Is allegroassai.com legit?
From a web search, I found allegroassai.com. It seems to be what I was looking for, but when I attempted to purchase a music score, I was transferred to an Italian web site and asked to provide my credit card info.
I have absolutely nothing against Italy or the Italians - fine people - but I am very leery about giving out my credit card info to any overseas web site.
Does anyone here have experience with allegroassai.com? Have you had any problems with them?
I'd appreciate any comments, positive or negative.
Thanks,
Derek Hatley

Hello Derek,
Here at Hitsquad we've known allegroassai for some time,
in fact they even sponsor the Notation page on this site
and they provide free downloads here of notation related
software (Opus & Amadeus).
We've always found them friendly and reliable when it
comes to business so I'd say go with it.
Cheers,
Jason Horton.

recording records to cd
Now that I have a burner What I need to know is how to turn all those old records into playable cd's . Thanks for the help.
Re: recording records to cd
With cable connection from your record player to soundcard you can use the following Audio Recording software supporting recording from Vinyl/LPs;
** <a href="/smm/programs/Singulator/">AIPL Singulator</a> records vinyl tracks as separate WAV files.
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/groovmec_win95/">Groove Mechanic</a> - Noise reduction system optimized for repairing the sound from vinyl LP records and cassette tapes
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/gramofile/">GramoFile</a> - Record LPs to CD, removing hiss, pop and clicks
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/LPRecorder/">LP Recorder</a> - Record your LPs (records) to WAV
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Rosoft_Audio_Recorder/">Rosoft Audio Recorder beta</a> - Record old LP records or old tapes

Re: recording records to cd
I use Wave Corrector to edit my LP .WAV files and like it very much. I am transferring LPs to my MiniDisc deck, then inputting the MD using a portable to my sound card. All transfers are analog. The soundcard reads and records .WAV files with no extra software needed. All you need is an editor and maybe software to remove ticks/pops if you like. If you are lucky enough to have your computer next to your turntable/amp, then you can skip the MD and go direct to the soundcard Line In port.

Splitting WAV files
I want to take a wav file that is 60 minutes long and break it into 5 minute intervals so that it plays continuously back to back without silence between the splits. What software do you suggest?
Re: Splitting WAV files
Hi Robert, any audio editor (supporting WAV) should let you split your 60min file into 5min sections. Are you looking to burn this to CD? You can burn a CD in Disk-At-Once mode to eliminate the silence between tracks.

Real audio to wave
Is there a program that allows you to convert Real Audio files
to wave or MP3 without playing the file? Also..is there a format
whereby I can get more than one voice file on a cd to use in a
regular Cd player?
Re: Real audio to wave
Yes, Jan there is. It is total recorder by high
criteria. Try this website :
" http://www.HighCriteria.com " .
Total Recorder is inexpensive and works well to
convert real audio to wave files or mp3. The mp3s
will need an encoder. Use the Blade STABLE
encoder. I believe it is version 0.92.5 . They
will have a link to the blade website to download
it for free. The Total Recorder will record it
as a software conversion in a silent mode right
on your desktop. It's a little slow for the mp3
process but not bad for the ra to wav.
Now, to your 2nd question : A regular cd player
will only play cdr cds - NOT cdrw cds. You are
limited to WAV files if you want to play them on
regular cd players. The number of files you can
burn onto one cdr cd and play on a regular cd
player will depend on the number of minutes length
that your wav files contain. You are limited to
the cdr audio cd limit which is usually around 74
to 80 minutes TOTAL. Also, VERY IMPORTANT :
when you convert your real audio files MAKE SURE
THEY ARE FORMATTED AS CD QUALITY 16 BIT STEREO
WAV FILES 44,100 HZ. In the Total Recorder the
sound format selection under the recording
perameters CHANGE menu you will select "PCM"
under format and "44,100Kz, 16 bit, stereo" under
attributes. Both of these selections are the last
ones on the list.
If you have any further questions email me at
drghall@juno.com .

composition software
I am a director of a community theater/performing group that is looking for a reliable and easy to use software program to write music.
It needs to have sheet music that will print out and have a transposing option. I've read about many, however it is hard to make a decision. Any useful advise out there?
Re: composition software
I have used Concertware from Jump Music for years. It is lower cost than most, but still good features. A more expensive alternative is Coda Music software. They have several that are industry standards.

Re: composition software
try sibelius- a good composer and a good program(so ive heard)
youll want to try out the demo BEFORE you lay your money down.
also programs like logic and cubase have notation stuff-BUT, try sibelius.

clonecd how do i back up playstation games
can anyone help wot settings must i change on clone cd for it to alow me to back up my playstation cds
How do I start in this industry?
Hey there, i've been interested in making electronic music for years, but I don't think I know where to start. I have no knowledge of music - as in sheet music, notes and all that - I don't know any of the mumbo jumbo and I don't have a clue how to use fruityloops pro 2, I you can set on the right path - to tutorials, online help, I would really, really appreciate it.
heres what to do.
well this is a pandoras box kind of deal.
you could get going with anywhere from
$300 to $1,000,000 depending on what you want.you should get a version of cubase, cakewalk or logic audio probably.and if you want to do that fruity loops crap feel free.
but im going to give you a link to get a piece of software for $50 that has a sequencer, an analog synth, a sampler, and a drum machine.
if you have a keyboard to trigger it then youll have plenty to start with there.this software is similar to reason but its much cheaper.
for the rest it would depend if your a 100% midi guy or if youd stray into the world of recording audio-i suggest you look at the shareware around on this page.fruity loops or acid are both killer apps if you play with loops.
BUT-with orion youll have the equivilant of a $3000 rack of gear in a $50 program-I COMMAND YOU TO GET ORION!!!
then maybe youll want a synth module like the roland 1080 to go with that.....and youll need a soundcard...echo and midiman make good ones.
check out the gina 24.
a microphone-while people will say get an sm-58 im gonna say No get a rode nt-1 for a little more money youll get a much better vocal acoustic instrument sound.or if you can get a neuman tm-103, or audio technica 4067
and a pre amp for the mic-you may just want to get a mackie mixer and use its pre's, and then youd also use it to hook up your monitors from...
othertwise pre sonus, joe meek, and focusrite all have "affordable" pre's-avoid art pre amps.
for audio theres pro tools free, n-track, cool edit pro-
youll probably jusat want to get cubase, cakewalk or logic and then if you need to edit samples get recycle, or cool edit or whatever those people use to do that.
if your the man youll end up with logic audio and ORION ORION ORION-get orion this instant!!!
p.s.-theres also a cakewalk dance music pak that comes with fruity loops-
for the rest go to www.intermusic.com
any other questions come back and ask and ill try to answer.
also heres a newbie forum-www.homerecording.com
get orion:):)
Re: heres what to do=) GET ORION
MUST GET ORION
Yeah ok, thanks for the help mr.rob

or else get REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
