Cake Walk Home Studio 9?

Hello Everyone!
Does anyone here use Cake walk home 9? I am having some trouble with getting my DR-770 drum machine to work properly thru Cake walk.. It will record a drum pattern thru midi but I can't change the kit sound before or after it is recorded. Has anyone else had this problem? Also I have a Korg Keyboard and I am having a similiar problem with that - the sounds change when you change the patch but they do not sound the same as they do on the keyboard originally!
Any advice anyone has on either of these would be great!!

If your drum machine is audio output, cakewalk will record audio directly from your soundcard, i.e. not midi info, therefore u cannot change any of the sounds.

where is pianoroll of downloaded music?

If I record music in cakewalk 6.0 from mu synth there is a pianoroll.
If I download music form MP3 or CD and I click pianoroll within Cakewalk 6.0 I can't see a pianoroll.
Is there any possibility to make the pianoroll visible

What is the right converter software to use? I've tried ampradio...any others? I keep getting a message that says "these are not sound files or files not supported" this is frustrating as hell, just bought this burner for my son...we've spent hours struggling with it.

planning to buy yamaha psr630 keyboard (midi compatible plus xg sounds) £250 - is this good price?
with this k/board will i be able to play voices on soundcard and record to cubase?
play voices on yamaha and record into cubase. wil the yamaha sounds be recorded into cubase as audio or wil this be midi info.

Novice needs help

I've got a copy of Audio Grabber and Total Recorder, and wish to record some audio tapes to MP3 or WAV. I've got the correct RCA cable. My laptop has a line in jack. My problem is how I should cable from the pc to the stereo. I've tried connecting to the AMP's tape L & R record jacks, but no joy. The only thing I seem to record is from the laptop's microphone. Do I need to configure my sound card in anyway and can someone please tell me exactly where the cable should go into the stereo.

AltoMP3 Maker(http://www.yuansoft.com) is a very nice CD-to-MP3 ripper, it integrates with Windows Explorer, such as MP3 file ID3 info tip and editing ID3v2 tag within the Windows explorer property sheet.

Hey, I'm looking to find the easiest way to start recording songs on the computer.. I'd want to at least be able to record guitar tracks, and then add in midi drum tracks, etc. With all the music programs out nowadays, I don't even have a clue where to begin, so if someone could suggest some programs and tell me what they do to get me started, i'd appreciate it. I'm not looking to make professional demos or anything.. just for fun, but like i said, there's just TOOO many programs out now to figure out how to get started. Thanks in advance!

Just a thought for you,
I use Samplitude 24/96 Professional but they have a basic version of that and it isn't too expensive. Samplitude Studio is what it's called and it is very powerful and has an easy learning curve. You will need a decent sound card also, and there are many to chose from. I would spend the bucks and get a decent one with at least four in/out and one or two midi in/out. I use the Siena and it's awesome but it costs about 5 bills, There's other's out there tho that are great and not too much dough

I know the problem but I solved it by just starting with some of the simpler programs like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cakewalk_Guitar_Tracks2/">Cakewalk Guitar Tracks</a> and <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n tracks</a>

Rhapsody problems

I'm trying to install Passport's Rhapsody on my new computer that has Windows 2000 ME. When I try to install, I can't install the fonts (Anastasia, Frets A, Frets B, and Frets C). The instructions from the softwar AND from the Windows Help tell me to choose a "Install New Fonts" option in the File Menu of the Fonts folder, but that option doesn't exist. Can anyone help me? PLEASE!

im not sure what you mean but you could try this:
put the vocal sample into sound forge, then go to EDIT-COPY. then put your backing track sample into sound forge and go to EDIT-PASTE SPECIAL-MIX. then hopefully the vocal that you copied will be pasted on top of the backing track. this should work if the two tempo's of each part correspond. just practise...

It would be a bitch to do it like that. If you want to do this, I'd try Acid. It makes it cake to sync the 2 up.

By key changes I assume you mean pitch shifting. You can do this with <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a> or Sonic Foundry's <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SoundForgeXP/">Sound Forge</a>

Roland HDR

A sampler lets you take a short recording of a sound like a piano note and then play it back using MIDI so that you can play that note at different pitches.

To remove vocals you will need a program like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/VocalRemover/">AnalogX Vocal Remover</a> or <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/YoGenVocalRemover/">YoGen Vocal Remover</a> but this doesn't always work too well. There's no reliable way to remove a bassline either but you can get reasonable results depending on the frequencies in the bassline by playing around with the EQ. I like to use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a> for this kind of thing.

What you need to do is to connect the audio output of your Korg into the audio input of your sound card. Then record an audio track while your sequencer is playing the MIDI file. You can do this with most sequencing programs such as Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic.

Demonstration recordings

I have composed music and wish to create a good demo recording to send to publishers. I am having problems getting good quality sound, keep buying more and more devices, and still failing.
I use a Macintosh 3400c Laptop computer, Boss synthesizer and have those hooked up to a tape recorder through an amplifier by way of the speaker output of the Boss.
My amplifier is very old, that may be the problem.
Is there a better way to hook up the equipment or another way to produce a demo recording?

OMS/Quicktime help

I'm running OMS with software only, using
"Quicktime Instruments"... mostly for running
Finale.

But no matter how much I fuss with it, I only get the
cheesy electric piano sound & some percussion, no other
instruments.

It does this even if I quit Finale and do "test studio" in OMS,
in OMS, which is supposed to produce random MIDI
instruments.

I have two Macs, both running OS9, and they both do this.

OMS Support is dead, Apple's Quicktime help page is down...

What the hell am I doing wrong?

I feel your Mac pain. I have a Performa 6400. I have a Yamaha PSR-280 keyboard. I have Cubase VST (demo) sequencing software. I have a Midiman Minimacman interface. I am also "trying" to use OMS as the driver with the QuickTime Instruments. I cant get the keyboard to produce ANY sound thru the Mac. The interface has power but no IN or OUT action. Im afraid at this point, your problem is too advanced for me...but, if you think you know what the hell I'M supposed to do just to get me to your level, I may be able to comprehend your problem. From an amateur standpoint, I would suggest that your "LOCAL" setting on the keyboard needs to be set OFF, or you need to select the correct channel to hear the correct instrument you want to hear. If I ever get to that point, I'll give you a shout.
