recording soft synths

There's a nice program called TotalRecorder which
sits between your softsynth and WAVOUT device.
Quite good and not expensive. See link below.

Saving streaming audio

Does anyone know how to save the streaming audio from Internet Radio Stations to harddisk, while the transmission is still running? Afterwards the data will be converted to .wav

Yes, it's really simple... but must be done in real time. use a programme called Audio Magic 2.20 and just record the programme in real time and save it as a wav file.

I want to buy a new PC, that's fully okay for multitrack editing. Is it nessecarry to buy a SCSI system ? DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS ABOUT THE BEST HARDWAREN AND SOFTWARE ???!!!

Lot's of possibilities out there...
SCSI is good to have, however, ATA66 or UDMA66 is a lot cheaper, and has as good or better performance than SCSI. For a processor, I prefer Intel right now, as you need the floating point for audio processing. My processor is a 300Mhz, but get faster if you can, at least 500Mhz. as for Hard disk size, get as big as possible, as each track in audio is about 10 megs /minute.. so a good 20 gig or bigger is handy, but I only have 13 Gigs myself.

As for a Soundcard, that's a wlarge and opininated field... Layla, Mark Of the unicorn, Gina, Yamaha, they all have good options.

ess 1868 midi / audio

No sound! I need to restore the midi, mixer and audio devices in multimedia - I wiped them accidentally. My card is an ess 1868 audiodrive using audiorack32. Can anybody help.

rob you might want to try the tech support for your your computer if it is still under tech warranty. they should be able to help you. Either that or reinstall the the programs.

if you want to take a risk uninstall them first from your start/control panel/system/device manager

I'm using my mac to produce hip hop beats. I'm using macromedia soundedit, and it works great for putting together samples and coming up with the overall beat...i was wondering what program (if any) can i get to sort of master the final product to get a nice sounding, full, rich sound...instead of a beat that sounded like i used a computer to make it.

maybe purchase nova station it made my cakewalk sound much better and it is cheap. dont have to worry about credir card fraud. they are a reputable comapny

There is plenty of software out there for mastering. Most of it is just high-faluting compression and EQ software.

The word on the street is Renaissance from Waves, or even T-Racks from IK multimedia.

The other thing to do is to route through a hardware compressor and back into your computer.
Usually through tape too.
This is actually covered in a Electronic Musician issue from earlier this year.

Might give you some noise problems though, oh, and sync error too.

You need a set of good gold plated phono leads and connect them from your hi-fi's in and out sockets and the other end is connected to the in and out of your soundcard,then you can record the samples on your p.c.

Can anyone advise me? I am looking for a really easy to use programme that lets me convert CD to MP3 for my website. I want to put SHORT clips up NOt whole tracks.

I have Gamut and WinonCD and Mediaplayer and cannot get to grips with any of them as they all seem to fall short of my requirements.

i cannot figure out how to get the wavs on the screen to drag down to where i need them. i am using phillips write to cd software and is supposedly easy to use. i have succesfully turned them to wav files and are on my desktop like they told me to do but know what?

Your SSCI card or IDE bus cannot handle the speed you have set for burning. Try lowering the speed.

Try this, because this is what I do....
(applies to Real Audio/Video only)

Listen to the audio/video as normal, and then when it's finished minimize your browser window and go into your TEMPORARY INTERNET DIRECTORY and look for a .RAM file which should give you the full url of the file you want...then if you have a download manageer like Go!Zilla open it and press LEECH and then enter the url that you got from the .RAM file and if it shows the directory listing with the audio/video file in it, then add the file to your download box and download it(sometimes pay sites have cgi that prevent you from accessing the directories in which the file resides.) I've done this several times and it works, but like I said, it may not work on ALL sites.......
