I have same music CD's, which I want to convert to "midi" files, so I can use them with the NoteWorthy software, transpose them and get my partitures to play the music in my clarinet. Is somebody there who can help me!!!

Install SoundForge to export audio to MIDI.

It really can't be done. MIDI is different; .wav files or CDAudio tracks can't convert but MIDI has no sound; it uses the samples in your sound card or MIDI player to follow instructions to produce sounds.

I wish it was possible to do what you're asking, I really do.

Need Help with Vocal Remover

I have downloaded the vocal remover and after fill in the necessary fields for registration, the process will freeze. then a window pops up saying that there was a problem sending your regristration., I'm connected to the Net, I have Dirext X 7.0, what could be the problem? Or is there another way to edit the vocals cleanly?
Any help would be appreciated.

What Ive done to convert my vinyl to CDs is first get
a Y split cable, two normal sized RCA jacks on
one end and one mini jack (like a walkman) on the
other end.
I run the two normal RCA jacks from an available
output in my stereo and the mini jack into my sound
card on my computer so my stereo is now playing
through my comp speakers. Then to record the vinyl
track(s) as a wav I use Adaptec CD Spin Doctor which
has a vinyl filter. It also has a feature that
detects silences between tracks if you want to
record a whole album but mostly its useless because
lots of songs have silences, or low volume bits
that the program thinks is a silence so it can
chop your song up.I usually do it one song at
a time or just later piece the song back together
with Soundforge.

I use the same process as Frank. To split the tracks I use ACID WAV to manually insert silence into the wav file and then run it through Spin Doctor in EASY CD Creator and let it split the tracks up.

Sound Designer II

I need ver.2.8.3 to make compatible w/Pro Tools III. Can it be upgraded?
Or is there another way to make compatible?

I have cequadrant as a cd burner on my computer. I have learned to download songs from Napster. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to burn the songs that I downloaded from napster onto a cd using cequadrant. please help!!!

First you need to convert them using Music Match Jukebox, to wav files, than you can burn them onto cd via the music part.

Rebirth/Logic master needed

I'm running Logic Platinum 4.1 on a G4 mac. (spot the rich boy... where? not me!)

I can't get Rebirth to sync to Logic. If I start up Rebirth after Logic, I'm asked for some VST thing? What does this mean?
What do I use in the arrange window? Audio instrument? What settings/preferences do I need?

Also, Rebirth on it's own, I can't get it to route out of the Audiowerks8 card - it just comes out the mac speaker.

Are all my aspirations for stardom futile? Please help.

ho, ben:

okay, i had problems at first getting rebirth to work with logic gold. here's what you should do.

1. start logic first, then rebirth.
2. you should see two special looking audio channels beneath all the normal ones on the default song setup.
3. go under channels, and scroll down to your desired sound. note that you have to allocate two separate channels for the left and right audio if you plan to do stereo effects with rebirth.

What is meaning of .midi files?

Recently I've noticed (when downloading .mid files) that the extension is often '.midi.' (Yes, 4 letters) Is this to confuse my sequencer and cause havoc or is there a better reason?

Found this:

you can effectively strip the lead vocals of most tracks by messing about with the phasing of the left and right channels. As most vocals tend to be panned dead centre simply flip the phase of one of the channels and sum both left and right into one mono wave file. The vocals (and probably the bass drum !!) will dissappear. With a little joggery pokery you can use this info to remove the vocal performance from the original stereo file. With a little fiddling and figuring out what is going on you should be able to create an "anti" vocal (one that is 90degrees out of phase with the centre of the stereo file) and then reduce the gain of this one and finally add it to the original stereo wave to REDUCE the level of the vocal. If you also do a bit of eqing on the anti-vocal so that it contains nothing below 120hz, you may just leave some of the bass drum and bass guitars in the track

i make tracks using fruity loops 3.1 demo i dont have the full version but i do have a pphillips magnovox cd recorder in which i can record music in live analog time , also i am a musicain, Bass guitar,and some keyboard skills and also some computer knowledge helps also you can make some phat tracks if you have an musical ear creative mind, fruity loops is wonderful for musicains dj,s and none musicains alike all you need is the desire to ceate and lern , also never be closed minded musically or youll be lost being creative

set the pace at 95 instead of 140, that helps a lot, and make sure to use three bases and one or two instruments and then like 2 drums and that is all
