I'm looking to start producing music on my PC and would like some help. I don't play any instruments but I want to have realistic sounding instruments (guitars, violins, drums, etc) on my tracks. What program can I get to help with this. I heard cubase is good but can it help me in the position I'm in (not having any live istruments playing. I am interested in producing tracks with classical backgrounds, drum and bass background, hip hop/r&b backgrounds, etc. I'm not very genre oriented so I need something that will allow me to caver as many areas as possible and still sound realistic.

Can anyone help?

The Best software that I've ever use is CDRwin. Great piece of software (the best for PSX).

it should not affect the quality, as it is digital data, so, in essence, what is required for the music is signal, it's based on the presence (or lack)of signal, not strength or quality of the signal. However, if the plastic on the disc is not very good, it could cause the beam on the laser to reflect to the wrong place, causing bad data transfers. Some brands are more likely to create your next beer coaster than others, but thestrictly speaking, the "quality" can not be lowered by a low quality disc.

Interfacing Cakewalk 7.0 with Korg X5DR

I know this is basic..but I am lost. I am using an Ensoniq ESQ1 as a controller for the Dorg X5DR. What it the best interface for Cakewalk 7.0? Do I buy the cable that goes from the "host to PC" connection on the Korg? Or do I use the midi cable that interfaces with my laptop's serial port. Will I need drivers for either or these? Help! I am so confused!!!!!!

Playing MP3 music via stereo receiver

I covert my favorite CD tracks into MP3 format and connect the line out from my sound card (Sound Blaster Live! Value) into my stereo receiver. The actual configuration is line out to Creative Labs SBS20 powered speakers (for preamplification). Output to stereo receiver "tape deck" play connection.

This works OK, although slightly noisier than I would like. My concern - Could I potentially damage my sound card or computer with this configuration? Is there a more advisable configuration?

If your reciever has an amplifier built in, you would probably be best to bypass the speakers, as it may cuase higher signal levels, and is probably causing light clipping on the sound, which is probably the cause of the noise.

I can't download a single thing from this site and almost all other sites too. I once downloaded some internetbooster, and thats when the problem started, i think.
Did anyone had the same problem as i do?

Maybe you should try uninstalling internetbooster and checking the settings in your browser which determine what programs are launched or how your browser treats downloadable files. I had a similar problem ages ago.

restoring lost data from Roland vs1680 hard disc

I recorded a live show last week. Before I could save the power was cut to the recorder. I cannot get the files on my own as I did not save periodically during the show. Can I get it back some how? Roland states it is on the disc but cannot be identified by the 1680.
Is there a person out there that could retrieve this data for me? I have talked to a few experts but have received conflicting info.

As I was reading your question, I was trying to think of possible remedies, if any.Have you tried burning a cd directly of the contents of the drive, even if you can't see song titles? Or maybe try to Song Copy "all" to another partition or external hard drive, if it will let you. You've probably tried these options already but I was just suggesting some ideas that immediately came to mind as a VS-880 user. I wonder what would happen if the drive was installed in another VS-1680? Good Luck

Hi there,

There are many options available to you. If you simply want to record a guitar track and have a great audio editor on hand, try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>.

If you want to do multi-track recording (eg. guitar, vox, backing vox and bass), you'll need a multi-tracking program. Try either <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n-Track</a> or <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Pro/">Cool Edit Pro</a>.

ok ok ok what am i doing wrong(or is what i want impossible)
i have made a tune using the 4 track sampler plug in and now have it exactly how i want it, but the problem being that it only saves a .ses (cooledit session) file
so no-one who dont have cooledit can listen to it
any help?????????/ am primarily wanting to save as mp3 format but cant figure it out and the suck help pages are crap...please mail help to above addy as i dont use this page much just happened upon it whil surfing for help on cooledit

Hammerhead is not the best choice.

If you are going to be using Hammerhead, you will need a wav editor to add reverb and filtering.
This is what I do to make my hammerhead beats a little more realistic.

The hammerhead soundset is a little lacking and the user programming section is a little uinfriendly.

Great program though. I use it a lot.

Is FruityLoops free yet?
