Re: Where can I get good soundfonts for Free?
: Does anyone know where I can get extremely High-quality soundfonts for SbLive and for Cakewalk? Im looking really for really good Drum, synth, symphonic and choral type stuff. Thanks!
Just e-mail me, I have about 7 DX7 & piano soundffonts that I use, if you would like them, however you would need Microsoft net meeting as it would take to long for 7 zip files..Mike

What other sound card should i use with Echo Layla?
I am putting together a new PC for a home recording studio. I'm going to get the Echo Layla audio interface sound card for it. Should i be using an additional sound card for regular playback, like a soundblaster or something (or recommend something else)? Or can i use Layla as my one and only soundcard? And help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: What other sound card should i use with Echo Layla?
yes use only layla!

I use a soundblaster together with my gina. not for the audio, simply because of the midi interphase..
although the extra audio has come in handy..

Can't get music to record using WaveStudio
I am connecting my Spd-20 drum pad to my computer. I directly connected my 1/4" wire to the 1/8" in the line in, into the soundcard. I get sound out of my speakers, but Wavestudio isnt able to record any of the music I am playing. I made sure everything is turned up and not muted. What do you think the problem is?? If you have any suggestions I would really appriciate it...

Re: Can't get music to record using WaveStudio
Sounds like you have Soundblaster Live. If you've updated the drivers to Liveware3 then on the mixer left click over the icon above record level on far right hand side. Menu comes up on what is to be recorded, I generally use "What You Hear" so everything you hear gets recorded.

Easy to use drum machine/sequencer for the PC
Just tried out a demo version (then bought full version) of a
terrific PC software called PC Drummer. Flexible and easy to use (windows), great sounds, midi, etc.....
Worth a free download at www.pcdrummer.com !!
The tech support is the author of the program, Paul Orszuka.
Has worked with me via email to solve some problems I couldn't figure out.

Copying CDG's...If the technology is out there people will use i
It seems that the CDG karaoke Disc manufacter's are now attempting to track down and prosecute those people out there that are copying and compilating karaoke CDG disc's...
I wonder if they ever asked themselves why people are starting to copy there product?
could it be that the average cost of a CDG is about $30.00, twice the amount of a standard market priced CD?...Why?
They say that it is more expensive to manufacture these discs because of the added cost of adding graghics and acquiring writes from labels to rerecord
there artists music.... What do you think?

MIDI -to- WAV rendering? Howto?
I am using an Sblive Value. I use Cakewalk Professional 7.0, and I use the built in Cakewalk Soundfont manager. I download a bunch of SFs from a great site that Freeman gave me a while ago. Anyway, I really need to put them in wav files. I dont wanna use Polyhedric's WAVMaker. Anyway, is there anyway that I can render the MIDI's I create (usually just 1 or 2 lines, since I wanna seperate them and mix them down in Cooledit Pro), using custom soundfonts?
Also, is there a way I can convert Reality (www.seersystems.com) Bankset files, which are basically a collection of Soundfonts, into regular soundfonts?

Mac notation softward & PICT files
Does anyone know of a Mac based music notation program that allows copying of selected measures that can be pasted as a PICT into a standard word processing document? I need a program that allows such easy pasting of small musical examples. The ancient program Music Construction Set 2.5, as lame and limited as it was, had that one convenient feature (great for us music educators who have to make up tests!) Is there any all-purpose up-to-date, easy to use notation program that does that same thing?

I would be very grateful if someone could help me out on this one.
Once I've installed the driver for Hubis loopback, how do I configure the midi connections within it?
I click on the taskbar and get the menu box, but it doesn't seem to want to let me alter any settings.
Any help much appreciated.
Re: Hubis loopback device
1 Once you install the hubis loop back device you will see a

there you will select how many port you want use (it as up to four port )after that press enter .
2 When ever you start up the program to use it ,it will always appear in the task bar, right click on it and you will see all the ports you have on your computer there you will see also hubis loop back ports ,LB,LB2 up to four depending and how many you choose when you configured it at installation.
there you can asign it to what ever program you wish.

Palm-branded Products
Palm-branded Products
I read about 3Com’s new plan to expand into the accessory market by developing Palm-branded
products. Licensing of Palm software is also in the works. I recall hearing that new software is
being developed to allow devices running Palm OS the ability to synchronize directly with the
server that holds a company's Microsoft Exchange data, or Lotus Notes. Has anyone else heard
anything specific about this? I’d be curious to learn more. As it relates to these electronic devices,
I have recently discovered a new way to shop- buyer pooling. I recommend checking out

Recording with Emagic Audiowerk2 / Mixdown in Logic Audio ???
Hey !!!
Last week, I’ve bought an Emagic Audiowerk2.
I want to record vocals with the AW2, but the recording volume is too low.
Yesterday, I used a guitar effect processor (Korg G3) as a pre amp and connected its output with the analog in of the AW2. (I used a cinch <-> guitar cable adapter, because the in- and outputs of the AW2 are cinch.)
Before I bought the AW2, I recorded with a SB16, also using the G3 as a pre amp. In this case, the recording level was far above 100 %, but with the AW2 it was lower than 50 %.
The main volume of the AW2 was adjusted to the maximum and I tried recording stereo and mono, but the loudness of the recording didn’t improve. (As I
recorded stereo, both outputs of the G3 were connected with both analog inputs of the AW2...)
Do you have any idea how to increase the recording volume ???The windows mixer doesn’t work with the AW2 and audio editors like Cool Edit don’t have any volume controls...
Another question :
The Emagic Audiowerk2 Production Kit came with Logic Audio Composer, a limited version of Logic Audio. Can I mixdown in this program (if yes : how ???) or do
I need to run a wave editor in the background to record the MIDI-triggered sounds ?!?
Thanks in advance !!!

custom CDs
I am using Ra2Wav to convert the .CDA files to .wav files then I use Nero burner to compile the music to a Cd.
When I create a cd i have 2 seconds of the next track at the end of the track that I copied. How do I prevent this from happening.

The magic word is DAO (disk-at-once).
Burn in this mode and you never get 2 seconds
between tracks.
I don't know NERO, but every good CDR-soft
should have this option.
In better software you can also adjust the time
between tracks.

pattern-based performance
Does anyone know of a Windows 95-98 pattern based midi sequencer that allows real-time control of the patterns during playback/performance. For example, I need to line up patterns of a song in: intro, verse 1, chorus 1, verse 2, chorus 2, solo, chorus out, ending. While there are sequencers that will allow you to set that up, I haven't found one where you can cue up patterns in real time or loop a pattern on the fly. For instance if I wanted to jump from chorus 2 back to verse 1, I would like to highlight verse 1 and have it play after chorus 2 finishes.
This is pretty basic performance stuff but none of the major Windows sequencers offers this. And I have asked them all about it.
I have an old DOS program named "Texture" (no longer in print) that does this handily but I'd like to move to a Windows type environement where I can include wav files as well.
Any help out there?

converting real to wav
I was wondering if anyone knew of a site to get a version of Streambox Ripper that was out BEFORE the Real Audio Lawsuit. Or if anyone could tell me of another program that would convert Real Audio to WAV or MP3. I already tried the ra2wav, and I dont like it because it keeps saying something every 10 secs. Feel free to respond via my email at omisore@hotmail.com.
