Use TMPEG TO CONVERT YOUR ASF TO MPEG IF IT DOESN'T WORK USE GRAPHEDIT TO CONVERT THE ASF TO AVI THEN USE TMPEG TO MAKE THE AVI TO MPEG FORMAT..
For me TMPEG WORKED IN CONVERTING ASF TO MPEG IN MY WINDOWS XP MACHINE BUT IN MY WIN98 MACHINE DID NOT WORK SO I USED GRAPHEDIT METHOD...

Note!! If you need the ASF files on your harddrive before conversion ( which I think you do ) use a program called ASFRecorder V1.1 you can find it at www.download.com and search engines.

you cant convert the asf file just like that because microsoft remove the asf 2 avi funcion in virtual dub but i can send to you a copy of the virtual dub 1.4 whit this feature. so wait for the program or write me requesting this.

When I use virtual dub to open my asf file I receive this error:

ASF parse error -- too many segments in packet at 34b (2 expected) packet size = c35, send time: 0:00

I have several full length movies of asf type and they all get the same error message. What does this mean or what else can I use to convert them to avi or mpg?????

to convert asf to avi you need "virtualdub" (freeware): www.geocities.com/virtualdub, to convert avi to mpeg you will need to have an mpeg-encoder such as "panasonic encoder", "xing mpeg encoder" or "dvmpeg". as for the avi i found the "picvideo"-codec useful for both high compression and quality.

Recording Wav files to play on home/Car CD?

Please forgive my ignorance as I'm a Newbie to all this!
I recently purchased the amazing program
"Mixman Studio Pro" & I have a couple of questions
for all you experts out there.
Firstly! Can I save a "WAV" file to CD so I can play it
on a normal Home/Car CD player & if not,
is there a way to save the music so I can play it?
Just in case you don't know, "Mixman" can export in .wav,.ra & .sf2 formats.
Any comments/suggestions would be very apreciated.

First, in order to record to a CD you must have a CD Recorder.
Next, you must have the .wav files (songs) on your harddisk.
Next: You wiil need an interface program to record to the CD from the harddisk. I use a little program called CDRight which does a great job and is easy to use. Check Office Depot,etc.
You can get 20 - 25 songs on a 650MB CD.

I have been successfully recording from cassettes to my hard drive and then burning a cd. I am recording in wav format. Now all of a sudden it will not play back from the hard drive or from the cd I have burned. HELP

Addendum:
Once you have the .wav files on your harddisk you can put them on tape if you have a Cassette Recorder or Reel to Reel unit:

1. You will have to have a "Y" Connector on one end (RCA type plugs to plug in the Recorder Input), and a 1/8" Miniature Stereo Plug to plug in the Computer speaker ouput jack.
2. Play the .wav files on the Windows media Player or any player you may have such as Winamp and start recorder.

Hi

Just use Easy CD creator by adaptec to convert your
.wav file into .cdr file. It has easy wizard to lead u
to create your own CD.

.wav is the standard format in PC eith no compression applied.
.ra is a rather rough format. It's size is greatly comprssed
so it can be easily download from internet.

go download MUSICMATCH then you can convert

MP3 > WAV
WAV > MP3
WAV > WMA
MP3 > WMA

there are several programs to do this job:
L3ENC and AudioCatalyst are the best ones in
my opinion.
just search for them via AltaVista or something
like that.

I need some information in everyday language. I want to learrn how to download music from the internet and burn the music onto a CD that I can play in any CD player.

What is an average CD burner that you would recommend?
What is a good site for radio/pop/rock music?
Explain what mp3 and wave is.

I just got a new 2,000 Gateway, and it already have a CD burner into it, and I don't know what to do could you please help me?
