Pop uP Windows.
Why do people put them pop up windows on web pages when everyone has a program to stop them? It's a real dumb way to advertise. The only time someone clicks on a pop up window is to close the darn thing. Misleading links work the best.
Re: THIS PAGE SUCKS
: noone ever answers your questions
I agree, the people on this webpage are really rude jerks. I've been scowering the message board looking for answers to my questions about some technology, and when I find something related, the responses are usually really rude like "Look on the message board a little harder, and you'll find it" or "NO, you can't do that you ***". Really guys, if you can't be nice and give good advice (if you knew what the hell you were talking about in the first place) then get your bonies off the Internet. Oh yeah, and last time I looked, the f- word had 4 letters... nice retort, try to say something a little more intelligent next time, you loser.
If you think you wanna chew me out with more 3 letter f words, give it your best shot... email me.
Re: THIS PAGE SUCKS
If you don't like it, then take your pitiful comments elsewhere. People like you are about as useful as a hole in the head.
I really liked the last sentence - did you look the work 'intelligent' up in the dictionary? Your message certainy isn't.
So, if you don't anything constructive to add, may I suggest you take long walk off the nearest short pier.

Well Andy, at least I make an effort to help people, and I'm not angry by what you said. By the way, I think you really need some anger management help, because the only way you goofballs can seem to express your piddling personalities is by dumping on other people. Do you need some help or something? Is there something you need to talk about? I'd be happy to listen and help, unlike some OTHER people. That hole in the head comment was good too, do you know a lot about that kind of stuff, are you speaking from personal experience? Do you drop E?
Re: you know, people with no "intelligence" only respond with an
My problem is with newcomers who suddenly appear of the scene
and start by slagging off everything about the board, and that
really gets my goat. I've been psoting to this board for over a
year now, and nobody else appears to share your sentiments. I try
hard to be as helpful as possible, but there are times when I get
tired of repeating the same answer to the same question, when all
it takes is a little effort to find the answer. If you have something
constructive to add, then please do, but we can do without the
negative comments.
Andy
I can't find your question...
...where is it??
What really sucks here is peoples assumption that this is some sort of 'paid for' service and therefore they get to complain.
People come here to ask questions and then don't come back for the answers more than 80% of the time in my reckoning. 20% of the messages are blindly rude requests for cracks. It's hardly attractive for people to come here to answer questions at all don't you think?

record music from the web
I would like to know which software allows me to record on my hard disk the real-time music brodcasted by the radios on the web
Re: record music from the web
You can set you sound card to "record from all" and use any wave recording program to grab the music if you have a full duplex sound card.
The sound quality is going to be low (but it's already probably pretty low if it's streaming) On the positive side it dose not require additional software.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but you can try ASFRecorder.
You can download it at http://www.lemuria.org/mirrors/asfrecorder/
This will let you record windows media streams. I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of other similar programs around. And Winamp will let you record MP3 streams. You can find the settings for this under Preferences/Plug-ins/Input/Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder/Configure/Streaming.
Re: record music from the web
I don't know about the softwares mentioned but URLSnipper & Streambox VCR in
combination are definitely for the purpose. Most streaming audios have hidden URL.
Snipper is for finding out the URL & SB-VCR is for *downloading* the audio file.
Note the difference between recording a streaming audio & downloading an audio file.
The former method needless say will affect the audio quality; the latter will not.

Converting CD's to mp3
How long does it take to download a cd onto the harddrive of an imac into an mp3 file, so that this can then be transferred to ipod?

Re: Converting CD's to mp3
There is no strict answer to this as it would depend on the CD/DVD/COMBO's ability and spin speed for reading the CD.
If you use iTunes (which is highly recommended) it takes me about 20 seconds to rip a 5 minute tune from the CD directly to an Mp3 at 192kbps on a G4/400mhz...
The G4's altivec engine speeds things like this up though so unless it's a new G4 iMac, expect it to be a little slower..

DirectX
Anyone know how you can make sound applications that don't show DirectX drivers in the list of output devices use DirectX sound?
Re: DirectX
Direct X plug ins generally modify an existing sound stream, so you have to have some sort of source. Basically you are going to need some sound program such as Samplitude or Cake Walk to make use of Direct X.

Slight miss understanding. I don't want to use DirectX plug-ins, I want to use DirectX sound output. For example, Sound Forge supports DirectX plug-ins, but it doesn't support sound output to your sound card using DirectX drivers.

Re: music software

hello!
I believe there isn't any code written in delphi, but you can use the CDEX dll (open source program written in C++)
you can find an example about how to use it here:
http://www.torry.net/vcl/mmedia/other/tlame.zip
Always try it first on Torry when you search something about delphi.

lost security key for real jkbx
anybody has an idea about how i could play my music that i have recorded but i can't play due to the fact that i recorded it with the security key "on" and also i can not access the key anymore cause i had to do a system recovery

: anybody has an idea about how i could play my music that i have recorded but i can't play due to the fact that i recorded it with the security key "on" and also i can not access the key anymore cause i had to do a system recovery
I've found that I cannot play any of my secure files on any other programs because they were secure. There's really no point to securing your files unless you really don't want anyone copying them. My recommendation is turning off your "secure files" option and redoing everything. Once you record a program as secure, it's saved as an rmx file rather than an MP3 file, and I don't think there's any way to convert. And I don't think you can just make them unsecure by changing the track info, because the hard copies are in your hard drive as rmx.
If you don't know how to turn off the secure file option, go to Tools at the top, then to Configuration Wizard. In there, you'll go through a series of options, and the secure file option will be one of them. Click on "no" and everything you record from then on won't be saved as a secure file.

No such thing as CDA format!!!!
First, lets clear up this misconception. CDA is not a true format. If you look at an audio CD in Windows Explorer, you get a list of CDA tracks, but you'll also notice that they're only 1KB in size. A CDA file is, in effect, a shortcut to the audio file. So, what you need is not an MP3 to CDA converter, but an MP3 to WAV converter. When you burn the WAV files, the software automatically adds the CDA file.

DEVIDEING MUSIC FROM ANY CD
I HAVE A ALOT OF MUSIC THAT IS EXTENDS FOR OVER 70 MINUTS LONG, I NEED A PROGRAM LIKE SONIC STATION THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO DEVIDE THE MUSIC INTO NUMEROUS TRACKS SO I DONT HAVE TO FAST FORWARD TO THE SONGS I PREFEEER. IM LITERALLY GOING CRAZY TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. IF ANYONR CAN HELP YOULL SAVE MY SANITY FOR I BOUGHT MY COMPUTER ESSPECIALLY TO DO THIS,...PLEASE HELP!
Re: DEVIDEING MUSIC FROM ANY CD
You could try using 'Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer'. It'll cost you 20 bucks but the program is worth it (IMHO), you can split the sample in to tracks, then it will save it into individual files, with the saveas function (either wav or mp3) where you marked the tracks at.
Hope this helps
I need help with the same thing
Someone got any tips on how to get it done?
What about R&B music?
I respect a lot of the music acts that Australia has produced over the years (especially AC/DC and the Little River Band), but I'm hoping that there is a place for an Australian on the R&B scene. In fact, I believe that there should either be some soul acts produced from the Land Down Under or at least one act should try a straight R&B album. If John Farnham could turn out a respectable performance of the Memphis sound on 33 1/3, why can't today's artists look to the genre's past stars for inspiration? Then we could truly have a new sub-genre called "neo-blue-eyed-soul," because this music can speak to people all over the world like any other musical style. My best bet on act that should cross over into the US R&B market is the Olympics girl- that's right, Nikki Webster.
I would very much appreciate a full fledged discussion on this topic because it deserves at least some attention. Thank you.

Hi!
Two programs worthy of consideration are Photoscore Pro from Acorn. I suggest that you first try the Lite version which is limited but free. You will find it at sibelius.com
The other one is musicscan. I think you will find it at codasoftware.com (but I am not sure about this adress) hope it will help

how to get a frequency analyzer
I need a frequency analyzer for recording speech. How can I find one that does not call for a microphone. I would like to do the recording through the speakers. Do you have a program available?
Re: how to get a frequency analyzer
How do you intend to record through a speaker? It's just not possible. A speaker is designed to do one thing - to convert electrical impusles into sound wave, you can not use it as a microphone.
Andy
Re: how to get a frequency analyzer
Although it is not a good idea to use a speaker as a microphone, it is possible. The sound quality is terrible with an un-even frequency response and discussing harmonic distortion. (Most) speakers and microphones work on the same principle: a moving magnetic field produces an AC current in an adjacent wire, (microphone) and a changing current in a wire causes a magnet to move (speaker) So basically they are both just a coil of wire around a magnet. I don't recommend that you try to modify your speakers to work as a microphone.

How to convert VCD music to a regular CD music
Hi there:
To anyone can help me out there. I just got a couple European VCD music and sound too good to me and would like to tranfer or copy it to a regular CD; therefore, I can listen in my car.
Re: How to convert VCD music to a regular CD music
There is a program called Total Recorder, which records everything that passes through your soundcard. Play your VCD and it should record the audio for you. Once it's in WAV format, you're home and dry.

cannot read cd after computer locked up
I would like to know how to open my cd. when i try to open it, it takes me to scandisk for cd roms. then when i run it, a message appears "one or more tracks on this disc are damaged. if you continue to use this disc, you will probably encounter errors.it is recommended that you backup the data on the disc if possible." my cd-rw is a TEAC CD-W58E and the software is Adaptec DirectCD. this started when my computer locked up with the cd in the drive. and when i restarted the computer the cd would not open up.
clicks at beginning of song
I use acid software, and at the beginning of my songs, there is often a lowd distorted clicking sound. I know it has something to to with midi clock, i think. What do I do to set things straight so that it stops happening? Thanx.
I've got a problem with Cakewalk
Hi there
I recently bought SBLive! 5.1 OEM. using SoundFonts. I found some good sf here and there, but the problem is I don't know how to use them with Cake. For example I got some sf with 2 piano sounds sounding great, but how to upload it with some track? Anyone have the answer?
I also have another question. Good sf has 1 sample in it, so how to create a bank made of: bass sample (one good is enough), piano and drums? Drums of course is made of kick, snare, hihat, ride etc. How to make one good sounding bank containing these?
I'm a guitarist and need some nicely working thing for my improvisation and creations, but You see I am not a proffessional computer guy, so these problems really making me mad. Does the guys making programs need to make a life harder?
Anyway, please help if You can.
Chris
