Setting Tracks for Continued Mixes
Hafa Adai (Hello) from the Island of Guam!
I have a DJ Mix (MP3) about 45mins long. My problem is that when I burn to CD, it comes out only as one track using NERO. How can I setup additional tracks to this mix, so that I may skip to certain parts of the mix at anytime. Do I need a software or hardware?

Nero 5.5 i'm using and when you drag'n'drop mp3 into audio track and just right click on the track, choose properties, there's a section "split" in this properties menu, just split the big file into pieces by marking the start'n'stop points. that's all :) easy
AWE64 Gold Need Installation Disc software
Please help. Does anyone no where i can find a copy of the installtion disc software on-line. I loaned my disc to a 'mate' who has now lost it and now i cannot install my soundcard following a re-build.
I have tried the updated drivers downloaded from the soundblaster site

Normalise - does it actually work??
i have used a number of cd burner software with function of normalising mp3 to the same level throughout the cd recording. but so far none seems to work as mention as i still get songs with different volume in the audio cd i made from my different sources of mp3. is there any cd burner program that have a normaliser that actually worked? please can anyone help, thanks.

"Nero Burning Rom" does it of course, and works great, you should select normalise to %96, this cause the record to maximize all tracks if their sound is low, and also never distors on speakers.
Performance Through Wavetable Emulation
I have a cheap MIDI keyboard for notation input to a variety of sequencing software plus a reasonable quality Yamaha wavetable sound card. Can I use these connected to a PA to produce a nominated MIDI wavetable sound e.g. Brass Ensemble? I have swags of software but have never tried it for live performance - nothing too fancy needed here, just a range of reasonable voices not available on my MIDI keyboard.

Audio Skips
Whenever I play any audio on my computer it never fails to skip - Online Radio, MP3's etc.
Could someone tell me some of the reasons this could be happening and what the surest way to fix it could be?

Either you're low on RAM or the system isn't buffering enough data.

Darn secure Real Jukebox files or rmx files
How can i play my secure real jukebox files with my Windows Media player now that I have Windows xp?? If I delete Real Jukebox those secured files turn into rmx files and i cant play those either. Pls help
Zip Files
Hi, I am unable to open 'zip files' on my PC running ME. I have no problem opening up and running files that end with 'exe'. What seems to be the problem? Any advice/help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks. Neil Moorhead

Encore 3.0
I have a copy of Encore 4.1.1 for the Mac, and would like to make a trade with someone for Encore 3.0.x, also for the Mac. I realize that this may seem like a backward step, but I have files done with 3.0.5, and wantto keep them in the 3.0 format.
This should pose no legal problems since Passport Designs has long since been out of business.
Need help choosing automated music system/software
We've almost finished construction of a large restaurant/bar along the Texas/Mexican border and we need to decide between a CD Carrousel system or an automated music system. Our music should be mild early on, and then build up later in the night. Any suggestions? Prefer using Macintosh platform if possible. Should be easy to use, not too expensive and the ability to fade between songs would be great!

By using CD Carrousel System, you have to buy so many records for it, and costs too much of course. But if you do that with a computer, both you can use audio-cd's and MP3 or any other media (except MC,MD,DAT and Vinyl). And with a player (like mac-amp or win-amp depends on which system you'll use you can add a fader plug-in in it so can fades in and fades out between songs) you can make a playlist to play in ordered mode or shuffled mode etc etc. Also you can use computer for doing other things like fax,e-mail,internet,phone-recorder etc etc.

MusicTime File Formats
MusicTime 3.5 notation files are incompatible with 3.0. So if I upgrade to 3.5 I won't be able to share files with others unless they too upgrade, and I know some of the people I deal with won't want to upgrade. Does anyone know of a file conversion utility so we can maintain compatibility? Thanks!

recording music from different artists
hi,
i am looking for a way to regulate the levels of already recorded songs before i burn them to cd--no soft then loud then soft again. can someone point me in the right direction?

You need a "normalizer" tool before burning CDs, you can use "Nero Burning Rom" and it automatically does it for you if you choose the correct options, but if not you can use any audio editor to normalize your wave files.

How can I record the music playing on realplayer or mediaplayer. I'm trying to record music played from broadcast.com and when I try recording with the windows recorder it tells me that my soundcard is being used already. Is there some software that I can use.

maybe your soundcard is not up to it ie not full duplex. Most new ones are. try using DirectX drivers (instaed of MME) for your card if u are not already. You may have them loaded but not selected in MP/multimedia options to be the ones used??

hip hop instrumentalz software verses hardware
i am desperately searching for hip hop instrumentals. new school and old school.. all the instrumental websites are poor quality, and not worth sampling. Does anyone know where i can find quality hip hop instrumentals? new school and old? i was thinking of going to the local DJ store and just trying to by vinyl, but i wanted to see if there was an easier cheaper way..please help if you can thx

The quote "Better Performance" is down to the user most of the time. Both software and hardware systems have their benefits although it's generally the one that you personally feel more at home with. Outboard equipment has the added bonus off more things to put your hands one and have a fiddle. I don't care what anyone says, sitting staring at a computer screen whilst wiggling a little mouse to make all your music can't be health or condusive to rythmn in the same way that leaping around a room with a guitar in your hands. Personal view maybe.. but true..
From an audio quality point of view, there isn't anything in it these days. If anything, the hardware systems win over for their reliability. My VS880 has never crashed during use whereas the G4 has been known to during a long and heavy session.

i feel that..but what about cost? which is least expensive?
Software...
.... is the cheapest option and that's that. The main reason for this is you have already bought the hardware by buying the computer. The software is just emulating the software and hardware of the hardware alternatives. This is great although you can imagine that you will be dictated to by the power of the computer.
You can't replace a keyboard as a controller for playing keyboard parts any more than you can replace two record decks. I like having the computer and the software alongside the hardware. It's gives more flexibility and a different view for making and creating music...

Who needs Drum Samples?
If anyone needs drumsamples, Kicks, Snares, Hihats or Percussion - NO LOOPS - just tell me. I sampled hundreds of Drumsamples from Vinyl, CDs, Tapes,...
If you`re interested I can zip a few into a mp3-file and send it via E-mail.

Try MP3.com. There are a lot of producers who are happy for you to use their instrumental tracks for remixes or laying down your own vocals.
