Ok, From the beginning. I am a Magician who enjoys singing. I have thought for a long time that music could bring an edge to my show. At this point my budget is rather small so I am looking for an inexpensive way to sing during my show. From what I have heard of MIDI, it is to “digital.” I don’t want to buy a Karaoke machine for only three or so songs. It is either this or find a cover band that would record the songs for me cheaply. Any other suggestions are welcome.

The important thing here is, are they your own songs or covers...? If they are you own songs then you will have to create the music yourself from scratch or with a ready made band program like, Band in a Box. I haven't used it but I think it's along the lines of what you may be looking for...
More suggestions anyone??
If the tunes are covers, then I believe you can buy CD's for singing over... I have a feeling I saw some in a music shop once... Full band, No vocals kind of thing. If I run into anything like this I will let you know..

Separate voice tracks from instrument tracks
I want to find how to and some good software to separate a voice track from the rest of the instruments. I don't have any hardware but I do use my PC. If I wanted to use Sarah MacClughlin's voice over a trance or house song, how do I just get the voice and not the rest of the instruments?

Her arrangements are usually quite complex and therefore the likelyhood that one of the karaoke programs could do it is so remote, that you have more chance of being knocked down by a mammoth.
Read down the page for 'countless' answers to this question..

portable cd player that plays mp3cd's
i bought a portable cd player that plays mp3 cds.how ever when i burn a mp3cd with easy cd creator 5 platnium it will not play in the portable player.is there a program that will write a mp3cd that will play in a portable cd player that supports mp3s.

Usually such players need proper directory names -like dir01, dir02 etc-, & can play some but not all the formats (don't dream about HQ 320Kbps), see the player's manual, finalise the CD & finally contact the player's support...
VST/32 5.0r1 Mac--I can't import Rex files
Is there anyone out there using VST/32 5.01 on a Mac with OS 8.6 and having these problems....
1) I can't import Rex files; I can open a song with rex files that are already in the song eg.VST drum sessions, but I can't just go to an empty audio track and then select import rex files and have it work..nothing happens.
2)REWIRE is not opening
Is REX....
Is REX actually an Audio format though?? I thought it was song data for Re-Birth...?

problem with "easy cd creator"
In my version of "easy cd creator" 3.5 It wont allow me to burn on to 700mb disc only 650mb disc. Is there anyway to change this in my version or would I need an upgrade?

Roxio, who make Easy CD Creator, have upgrades but not from 3.5. They consider version 4
to be too much of an upgrade, so you have to buy it...or obtain it from somewhere.

you probably need to upgrade to a newer version.if you have a filesharing program like winmx try searching for adaptec.

VQFs to Wavs
does anyone know of a utility that can convert vqf files to wavs? I can find ones that do it the other way round....but not vqf to wav

I need help. I cannot find where in Logic I can properly configure my console to Logics mixer. I have DSP Factory and all faders in Logic (only midi instruments) only control channel 7. Where can I set up my console in Logic?

Hey peeps! There is some hardcore agency probing Hotline for audio warez and they are busting up servers big time! I had some stuff on my server and I got shutdown!!!!! Has anyone else had any experience of this? hELp!!!

Play with fire and get burnt. It's really not too hard to get tracked down distributing warez. Obviously, you are making yourself visible to others. It's like some guy robbing a bank and then saying 'Man, they threw me in jail!'.
Best thing to do is obey the law.

I have had problems with my web hosts too. Most free hosts are giving me problems and it is hard to upload any warez without them taking down your site. Just in the last year i have been seeing sites being tooken down like crazy. This is no laughing matter. I think it is bushes fault. He should give more internet freedom. There are ways around everything you know. You just have to be smart like me. :-P
converting ra to wav using streambox ripper! Help!
What does the cd jitter filter do? Converted an ra to a wav then burnt it onto cd. When playing cd hissing noise can be heard in the background. Is this because i converted it to a different freq and to stereo or because i did not use this cd jitter function?

More detail needed on how to make a 'Best of Cd'
I want to select tracks from several Cds that I have and compile a best of cd. I've read the Hotburn 'How To' section, but it just skims over the process. If someone could tell me in simple terms, how do I get (and what program do I use) a whole Cd's songs into a file or saved somewhere, so I can then go into that file and select the songs I need? Please help.

Autograbber is the program you want.(I thing you can download a demo version)
You pop in a music CD and you can select tracks you want converted to .wav files. Store them all in a single folder i.e. "best of"..then using your CD burning program burn these files to your new CD.
I don't know what sort of copyright law is involved in this process...purhaps 'The hit squad' will enlighten us.

The exact process depends on which program you have. I use Easy CD Creator. Simply, you put each CD in and select the tracks you want from it. When you've got the tracks sorted, CD Creator asks for each CD in turn, reads the tracks off it, then when it's read them all, it burns the CD.
Other programs will do it differently, but it's a fairly easy process.

how to convert
how to convert files *.ram to *.wav or *.mp3. I have some data files *.ram and I want to convert them to audio *.wav or *.mp3,I have winamp and musicmatch jukebox but couldn't know how to use each or should I use another program,appreciate if you can help??

You cant convert .ram files but you can convert the .ra or .rm file that they lead to. You see the .ram file is only a link (of sorts) to the actual music or media file. If you dont have the .ra file on your computer, open the .ram file in Notepad to see the URL of the .ra file and try to download it (this doesnt always work). Then if you get it use <a href="/smm/programs/Wisecroft_Ripper/">Wisecroft Ripper</a> to convert RA to WAV.

Trying To Import Sessions But It Doesn't Work
Hey peoplez,
I had like about 30 mp3 files on one of my data cd's....and then when i add more sessions on to the 30 mp3's session.......i can't find it.....it only shows the ones that i've added on......and when i try to import the previous sessions....it doesn't work....and i really want my other files back....so can you please help me. I have a Adaptec Version 3.5c and if you can please send me an email on how to make both sessions together......and another thing.....i already checked the box to make the previous session automatically go to the new session. So yeah i've tried that to. Anyway please help......thankz!

Synchronizeing beats and measures
I have a VS880 and a Yamaha PSR-740. And I would like to be able to synchronize my beats and measures. Can I use MIDI to accomplish this? If so , How??
Don't know the PSR-740 but...
I do know the VS880. The VS can send and receive MTC (midi time code) and if you are using the sequencer (if it has one...!) on the PSR and it is capable of dealing with MTC, then you could be in luck.
The thing to do is to make the VS the master MTC device and the PSR the MTC slave. On the VS, these controls are within the SYNC/TEMPO page. I think the VS sends it's MTC at 30fps (frames per second) so make sure that is the setting for the PSR otherwise is wont sync properly. From this point on, it's a matter of following the instructions presented in both the manuals regarding syncing with MTC. Once this is achieved, you should be able to press play in the VS and the sequencer in the PSR will play in time, fast forward etc etc... NOTE: you could make the VS the MTC slave and the PSR the master MTC device so when you press play on the PSR, it will run the VS. The choice is yours.
If the PSR doesn't deal with MTC then you could use the cut down and slightly less fantastic, 'Midi Clock'. This will send out a midi clock signal to the PSR and if you have the PSR's sequencer selected as 'External Sync' then it should respond to the VS's sent midi clock pulses. It should all be in the manual.

hookin upa hardware mixer to the computer!!!
ok, i jus got a hardware mixer, and i wanna hook it up to my computer, i have two sound cards, one for each side <l, r> on the mixer, and im using bpm to mix everything, now im just wonderin how tha heck i get my hardware mixer to werk with the rest of it...please respond asap :)

Adaptec easy cd creator 3.5
When attempting to create or copy CDs using Memorex 80 minute CD-R blanks the software locks and the disk is ruined. Is there a driver update to solve this or will a software upgrade work?

Driver updates....
Driver updates are related to hardward and seeing you haven't told us what the CDRW hardware is, there is no possible answer to that question.
Hardware drivers for CDRW are often updated and the newest one will be available from the website of the driver manufacturer, check it out. There are often firmware upgrades as well which will actually upgrade the firmware in your CDRW. Have a look out for both otherwise you have a software problem with the burning software or a duffer of a CDRW. If all else fails, change your brand of CD's. Some drives prefer certain CD's.

Raising Vocals
I am very interested also about raising the vocals on a track. I read someone's explanation on raising them. Just got a few questions. Can it only be done with using those filters and do you really hear the vocals clear without the vocals? I thought it wasn't possible to separate the vocals with the music because of the way they are mixed? If someone can explain the best program to do this and the best way or easiest way to get this achieved, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have a mp3 already done so I can see exacly how it came out? Dave
