Yes, that makes sense. But some people aren't aware that there are sites for some programs. And some programs don't have sites, being available only via ftp. Some people simply don't know. My mum thought that you could only use your email client while you were online, for instance.

Help-IsisProAudio&CoolEdit
Hi all,
is there anybody who uses IsisProAudio and Cool Edit in the Netherlands, specially round Utrecht? I only have a very complicated manual, it is installed at the pc of a friend in Duesseldorf/Germany and we both have difficulties to understand the description. He's the musician, I have to do with computers - so, if there is somebody living close by for a few practical sessions, I'll come there for a lot of questions and answers...

CD to MD Conversion
I have reciently built my first PC and would like to be able to record from CD to MD digitally. Obviously I will need a sound card with optical output and some kind of digital internal connection to the CD Rom. Could anyone recomend a good soundcard and what software would I need to achieve this?

I'm not aware that any CD-ROM, or DVD-ROM drives have special digital links, but since the sound card does the decoding, it doesn't matter.
If your MD player has an optical connection, then either the SB Live! or Videologic Sonic Fury will do the job.

My mistake. The sound cards have coaxial digital outputs, not optical. I'm not aware of any affordable sound card that does.

my cd writer does'nt read .kar files!

Can anybody tell me if its possible to record Gigasampler live into Cool Edit Pro,what soundcard would i need to hear playback while recording.

Sorry... As far as I remember, Gigasampler uses MIDI to trigger its samples, and I don't think CoolEditPro supports MIDI...
I might be mistaken...
Try a better multitrack-recorder, such as
Cakewalk SONAR, Steinberg Cubase 5, etc...
or something...

MP3toWav no longer associated with MP3's. Help!
Hi All, I have a major problem: the MP3 files on my Cdrive are no longer associated to either my MP3towaveconverter or Winamp. As a result I can no longer convert MP3's. When I doubleclick the MP3towave icon I get the message "Failed to associate .MP3 files to MP3towave Converter!"
Furthermore I can't play MP3's in Winamp by simply doubleclicking them. I have to start Winamp and open from there.
Please please post any suggestions you might have.

converting MOD to WAV
I need a clean way to convert MOD files (.mod, .xm, .s3m) files into a mp3 format.
I mean clean because a while back when I was trying to converty mods to cda to listen in a cd player the quality of the mods was well lowered and notes were out of place.
Any idea of a simple program solution?

I just downloaded some freeware that allows you to change mp3's to wav. files and was wondering why you would want to do this. Does it convert it to the original source wav. bringing back all the quality that is lost in mp3 format?

Some people like to convert back to WAV so they can do a bit of editing or grab part of a song and sample it. Some people are also happy to burn WAVs to disc instead of MP3 because they can burn a stereo-system-friendly CD.
Unfortunately, you won't get the quality back if you go from MP3 to WAV. MP3 uses lossy compression so there is sometimes a difference between the WAV and the encoded MP3. Bringing the MP3 back to WAV won't result in a better sounding file. There are ways to tweak the process, but I wouldn't hope for any major improvement if you wanted a 128kbps MP3 to sound like a CD-quality studio recording. Still, MP3 to WAV is still a really handy process.
