what is a good program

I was just wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction. I am looking for a recording program but I don't want anything too complicated. I tried cubase VST v 3.7 but it is a bit beyond me. I also tried pro tools free and that was much easier to understand, can anyone tell me if pro tools LE is any good or if they know of anything better. for now I'm just looking to record audio and later progress to MIDI. any suggestions are greatly appriciated!!

If your just recording audio then you can't get much better than Pro Tools. Its not the best for sequencing MIDI but it rocks in the audio department.

you basically search for the frequency that the feedback occupies and pull it out. you obviously get better results if you use a good quality EQUALISER or FILTER. equalisers with a Q control are ideal as you can widen or narrow the frequency band meaning you can be more accurate..

midiman dman 2044

Do you know about these points:

The DMAN 2044 is in no way a 20 bit card....it converts at 20 bit but it then truncate to 16 bit to give a final result of 16 bit...
The problem is that it was and is still sold as a 20 bit card....simply fraudulous!!!!!!!!!

Also...the onboard DSP as never been implemented but again it was and is still sold as a card with onboard DSP...simply fraudulous!!!!!

These two point are written on the original box and nothing let us know that there are no DSP and no 20 bit....

You are, I think a music lover and a engaged musician and that should have some importance to your eyes.....we (musicians) are not especially rich and we spend the most of our money in gear...personnally, I spent hundreds of dollars in that card...only to realize after more than a year that I've been fooled by the "wolrd's largest midi company in the world"...
what a pleasant thought.

I will never buy a MIDIMAN product again and I will make everything possible to give them troubles and bad reputation....you should check the card and make yourself an idea....its all true...

Getting Thumps Mic bumps out of recording

60 min mix into tracks

How do I get my 60 min mix (wav file) onto cd withtrack markers at the start of each new record. Wavelab is fine but I have an Acer 4432 which will only play the cd's on certain cd players. On others the cd skips all over the place. If I burn the mix as a single track with Adaptec easy creator 4 there are no problems at all but this makes navigating the music cd very hard. Any suggestions?

You should get CD WAVE (freeware/shareware).
It's what I use. It is very very useful and easy.
Although I must say that using a minidisc deck is just as
easy if not easy (and then linking digitally to a CD recorder).

SB Live MIDI/Line 6 POD effects box problem

Ive just linked my new Line6 POD guitar effects box to my SB Live card through the joystick port and I get low to mid range feedback, if i disconnect one of the midi plugs from the POD it disappears. Are there any settings I should be aware of for the SB card or do I have a faulty unit?

Casio keyboard floppy disk won't play on PC

Where can I download a midi player that will play these floppys, made on my casio keyboard (WK1800)? They are SMF 0 format, also called CS3. I have searched all day,with no luck. Help me somebody, PLEASE!

I found out that the keyboard, will play SMF0 format disk. The floppy disks it makes, are CS3 format. I don't think they will play on anything else. I don't think there is a way, to change them, to the "0" format, so that I can play them on my PC. Reply if you have any answers.

Hi Linda, I am experiencing the same problem. My CS3 files created on the WK-1800 will not load into my Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 program. Had I known this, although it's a great keyboard for the price, I would never have purchased it. Not only will they not load into the computer program or the regular soundcard, they cannot be played on another instrument. Arggggggh!

I would like to be able to change a melody recorded by a singing human voice so that it would sound as if performed by instrumental or at least electronic devices.
In other words : I am looking for a software that has very special and massive affects to perform on a recorded file.

getting a software vocoder is the only thing i have found
so far...

i am trying to do the same thing.

even so, vocoding is pretty conventional anymore.

the only other radical tool easily accessible is
ring modulation software. or the VST/DirectX "rebuilder" plug-in

Mono files to CD Quality

There are probably several ways to do this. One way is to convert the MP3 back to WAV and re-encode it.

LP's to CD's. or Cassetts to CD's

I just bought several albums of LP's and would like to convert the music onto CD's. Is this possible, and how would I do it. Would I have to put the music unto cassetts first, or is it possible to go from the LP's to the CD's?

If you have MusicMatch Program,(downloadable from
www.mp3.com) you can record it
right onto computer in mp3 format.
You know how to do CD's from mp3!!!!!

the first thing you need is a good sound card
IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGIT YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT GETTING A sound blaster live platinum this costs £150 ish this has lots of inputs + vurtial studio technolagy software included. Have a look at www.creative.com I have it and i cant falt it (unlike my spelling) Plug

Hi

You need a multi-track recorder at the very least. Try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">N-Track</a>. Also download an audio editor as it might be handy for audio overdubs and effects. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/SoundForge_5/">Sound Forge 5</a> is in beta and is worth a look.

Hi there

Basically, you're safe with Napster. I haven't heard of any security issues. You're more likely to get a virus from some other security hole. Use a firewall as well as a virus scanner and you're on your way to having a reasonably secure system.

some demo programs dont let you SAVE. if you have the full version perhaps you could try uninstalling and then reinstalling.

If you own Rebirth there is a export to wav option which will put the entire song + FX to a 44KHz stereo wave file or you can just export what is in the loop area.
