Use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Realaudio-to-Wav_Recorder/">RA-WAV Recorder</a> and then convert the WAV to AU using an audio editor like <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>.

Minidisc extraction

This is a little off, but I have a SONY Minidisc PC BUndle, and am looking to extract .wav files from it (rip). However, on the windows 98 SE platform, there is no driver for the device, Any suggesitons? Thanks in advance'

If your soundcard has a digital input and your minidisc player
has a digital output, you can transfer your sounds via playback.

I used to do this bidirectionally also with a Fostex FD-4 and an Pioneer CD recording deck.

The only problem was the SCMS which was easily defeated by using the FD-4 for clones.

Hello,
I produce music using my computer. I own Creative AWE64 sound card and nothing from external equipment. Because AWE64 is low-budget card, the sounds that are onboard are very low-quality and very amateur (thin and artificial). But I'm impressed by the sounds and instruments of the many professional keyboards like Korg, Alesis and Roland. And my question is: is there any way to take any instrument from those keyboards and to import it in my computer and play using the sound card's ram, or, because the ram is too small, to use any virtual sampler inside the computer? I know that this is possible to do in analog domain, to patch the cable from one side to the keyboard's out and the other side to the computer's line in. But, can I stay in digital? Can I extract the sounds to floppy disk with the loop points and all parameters associated with it and use them like original instruments in the computer? And what exporting formats are supported by the keyboards and are the conversions available? For example take Korg Triton. I REALLY want to take these sounds because I'm REALLY disapointed of the AWE64's sounds. I don't have opportunity to buy sound module. Thanks!

To stay in budget limits and still be able to get superb sounds like from Triton, all you need is a soundfont compatible card (around 200 bucks)then you will have all the approtunities in the world to capture and play any sound through your card even your own voice oohs and aahs.

I use this with the new Cakewalk Sonar 1.02...Not had any problems with it. I have the Digital part of my SBLive on my Win2K machine going to it and then the LINE OUTS from the UA-30 going to one channel of on my Mackie (Left/Right Split)...

I like the way it sounds...and has virtually NO latency.

Did you not recieve a manual with the retail package you originally purchased? I would write to E-Magic and let them know this was omitted from your package!

convert streaming audio to a CD track

Ok here is the problem, everytime I try and convert a streaming audio file and try to burn it to a CD so I can play it in my car stero I get this message, Only WAV and MP3 stero files ( not Streamed) with a sampling frequency of 44.1 khz and 16 bits per sample can be added. Someone somewhere please send me a email and tell me what I need to do thanks.

Well don't try to burn it as is, you need to
turn the file into a regular wav or mp3
my recommand is wav
youll need
1.Creative Wave Studio (or other wav recorder)
2.2 2way-audio-cables
3.a mini-stereo
first take 2way-cable and plug it to the
stereo's phone
and the other way to the speaker-card's mic
and the second 2way-cable to the stereo's mic
to the speaker-card's phone
now run the program sndvol32.exe from run...
just type "sndvol32" and on the bars of the
volume and wave take them to the bottom but one pixel up so it will not mute. now on the prefrences of the sndvol32 change it to record
and make sure it is checked on Mic Volume.
now you just need to play and record at the same time
the false is that you wont here a thing and just assume that everything went along...

recording on sound forge

I posted a message once before, but i cant find the page it was on. silly me. Anyway, i figured out how to remove vocals with sound forge, but now my problem is how to record OVER that. i want to be able to record my own voice over the music, but i cant seem to figure out how to do that. If someone can help me, please email me at wolfmoon_haunted@hotmail.com that way i dont have to search through a zillion posts to try and find responses to mine. Thank you :)

You now need a multi-track recorder. There are heaps around, but I recommend <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">N-Track Studio</a>.

Klick on the green "Apply"-Button in the mastersection. Then it renders you complete Montage to a WAV-File. Now you can save this WAV-File. Please read your manual or press F1 over each function to avoid such simple questions !!

thanx 4 that (btw - no manual and f1 isn't functioning correctly (s'pose that happens when it's "borrowed" software!).

Is there any program that actually allows you to compose a symphony that sounds good??? All those violins, cellos, etc... sound great in real life but nothing emulates them well (or at least what I have.)

I was watching The Devil's Advocate tonight, and the song that plays at the ending is a song I have heard several times, but the title has slipped my mind. The movie was on TNT and the station started showing previews and cut the screen in half and I couldn't see who sinds the song or the title. I was hoping someone could help me out.

you can get back on NAPSTER but it means deleting certain files in your computers registry. you can download programs that claim to do this for you but i dont know how successful they are. i wouldnt recomend messing with your registry unless you know excactly what you are doing as you can really f**k up your system. if you do ever change things in your registry make sure you have a back up of your files just in case.
there are other sites apart from NAPSTER where you can download music its just a case of searching and its a safer option.

recording stutters

Im having trouble "writing" on pro-tools. The WRITE button does not seem to "record", nor does the "TOUCH" button go on after write. Can someone please help me? It blinks in red BEFORE I attempt to go ahead and "write" it, but while I do write it, the BLINKING STOPS!!

I NEED HELP!! I BOUGHT SOM RECORDEABLE CD'S AND I TRYED A CD BURNER DEMO TO SEE IF IT WORK AND EVERYTIME I TRY TO BURN IT SAUD I DIDNT HAVE A CD-R DRIVE.

It is amuch better VST-Sequencer for electronic music than cubase is. the pattern concept is unbeatable

I have not got a manual for My Casio CT-655. I need to connect it to my pc but don't know how to. I have connected with midi lead but no sounds are heard. I believe there are a few adjustments to make but because I have no manual I do not know what they are. Can Anybody help?

Roland DR-5 software

I'm looking for some recommendations as to what music software to get. I have a midi keyboard and would like to play various parts to a song and be able to mix them on the computer and create midi files. I would also like to be able to print sheet music. Also is there any type of software that would take a midi file off the web and notate it to sheet music. help with cd burner

I did something really stupid. I download songs from napster and the "computer man" had it fixed so that the songs I downloaded from napster showed up in "my files" on napster and in another folder "my music" in which I then could convert them for the burner. I have done something to the preferences or some other part of this computer so that now the songs don't automatically go both places, they only go to my files on napster. I need help in figuring out how to get them to go both places?????
