Which CD Burner?

I have most recently converted from an analog home studio to a digital
one. Yesterday I purchased a Roland VS-890 HD Work station & I am very
curious to know what external CD recorders are out there on the market
that would be both compatible to the Roland work station as well as being flexible
enough to do the following things:
I want to be able to:

1.) record my music digitally & mixdown to a CD burner.
2.) digitally record my old material-analog tapes from cassette to CD for
posterity.
3.) record my old classic LPs to CD.
4.) record MP3 files from Napster & make CDs.
5.) download my material from my Roland digital studio on to my Office PC
to explore music software possibilities.
Do I really need a Tascam or Roland or can I buy a Phillips,
Pioneer, etc. For what I want to do is there a
difference?

I have the same prob. The setup program wasn't on the disk. Where can I find the sfsetup file?????????AHHHHHHHHHHHH

RAM to RA for use with Streambox

to do with opening as a text file. If anyone knows how to do

Hi

StreamBox doesn't convert RA/RAM anymore. If you want to grab the RA file, download the RAM file and open it in a text editor. It should reveal the URL of the RA file that you want.

As for grabbing/making samples, try an audio editor. I recommend <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">Cool Edit 2000</a>.

COPY the .ra URL out of the text file (.ram file) and PASTE it into your web browser's Address/Location bar and press ENTER, or use a download assistant if you have one.

Wierd Video Problems - Help!

I am running Windows 2000 with SP1.

I have Windows media player 6.4.09 (upgrading to 7.0 did NOT have a good effect so I rolled back).

I have IE 5.5 and Netscape.

Now, most .jpg's viewed in IE 5.5 are fuzzy (lines, streaks, corruption) and any .mpg files viewed with Media Player don't work right.

However, the SAME web page in Netscape works fine.

It seems like its some codec or something about IE's display that is messing things up.

Quicktime files work fine, .avi's work fine, its just .mpgs and .jpgs.

Any suggestions? Codec problems? If so, how do I fix?

I have reinstalled IE a few times and all patches with no luck.

Please email with any suggestions!

through Hubi's midi loopback. Not many reviews I read
refer to this directly & I'd rather not install &

question,
i recently bought myself a pc that i am going to use solely for recording.
it is a pentium 3 at 800mhz with 256 Mb of ram and a 40 gig drive.
i need to start recording my music which is all acoustic. I am also interested in mixing in some ambience and drum and base.
I am looking for good quality clear sound.
what would you recomend i use first for software?
also, what do you recommend for a soundcard, monitors and mic's. i eventually want to put a small home studio together so i would really like to get some proper direction, and i heard over and over that you guys are the best.

Computer has no sound

What do I need to do to have sound....speakers are plugged in & volume is ok. Nothing is muted.
Can hear wavs...cannot hear Windows start up music, or AOL Instant Message Musical sounds...etc.

try going to "settings" on the 'start menu'...click on 'control pane'...then on 'multimedia'....or 'sounds' depends what operating system....check on the 'audio' to see if your sound card is assigned.

also you can open 'systems' and look to see if the device it working.

have you changed anything or installed anything lately? did anything happen that may have caused this?

there's loads of software available at the moment that will help you to record vocals on to a track.
But the main thing you have to look out for is what hardware setup you have.
now, im not shure what type of computer you have but im guessing its a pc or mac.
ive got a pc studio set up but im guessing the using a mac is not a lot different.
somewhere on your computer (probably the back) you should have some place to connect your speakers, your headphones and there should be a mini jack input for a line-in (microphone, tape, cd...)
once youve found a place to plug in a microphane your on your way.
next you need some sort of software to record you voice into a track. for this youll need a sequencer. my advice is go to some good news agents and buy a copy of "computer music". with this top mag. you get a free cd-rom, and on this cd-rom you get lots af free shareware music related programs. (or if you cant find the mag, go surfing the net for a free sequencer download)

pick a sequencer and install it on your machine.
youve now got a cheap studio set up on your computer. with the sequencer you can import the song on your hard drive. and record vocals while the song is playing. you can then adjust the vocal volume and even add effects to make the overall song sound better.
youll probably need a cd burner to get your song out of the hard drive and into your sterio.
hope this was of help....
ps... i really do recomend "computer music" its very usefull, especially for beginers...

Hi, just connect your speaker output to the mic input on your soundcard. Note that you'll need a full duplex card for it.

go to www.cdmaster32.com and download the thing. you can convert anything to anything with the right plugins and burn anything to cda.
