Need a SIMPLE program to edit midi files

Hi,
Can someone tell me a very basic, SIMPLE program to use to edit midi files? All I want to do is download a particular piece and use it when practicing pieces for band. I want to be able to see the music (scroll while playing), and be able to change the key, etc. I use Finale for professional transcription work, so am familiar with it, but when opening a midi file to it, it often does not catch time changes. Cakewalk is too complex, and I'm not interested in spending the big bucks for it. Any good suggestions?

Midi Sequencing

I have a question about Midi Sequencing. I sequenced some things in Cakewalk But i dont know the next step on how to put it in with the rest of the drums and stuff in my song. Also, i think i can use a sampler and play it back through there, Like giga sampler instrument files, to make it sound good, and not like those midi sounds. Is this what i need to do? thanks

It`s not easy....my advices:
read and buy Sound On Sound, check if in your area there is any PT of FT courses, use the net to read articles about HDD recording and related.

I don`t think that Sound Forge will let you extract the vocal from a sample, as far as i know the only way is try using filters. Male vox try from 1k to 6k, female vox try 2/3k to 9/10k.

Napster wont install

can anyone help me out? i've downloaded multiple versions of napster, MULTIPLE times. each time nothing happens when i double click/right click/run from the start menu the install file. what does this mean? i know it's not the file, b/c i emailed it to my work computer, and it installed fine there. i HAD napster v7 here at home, but uninstalled it (at napsters recommendation upon dloading v8).
Can anyone help?? PLEASE?!

Mixing software

I'm looking for a software that allows me to mix 2 different songs. The way I want to mix them is while one of them is still playing, start the other song, having the sound of both tracks at the same time. Once the two tracks are playing I want to be able to fade out on the first track and continue playing the second track.
Does anybody knows about a software that allows me to do that? I also want to save the mix of the tracks. Is there any software that allows me to do that? Mix them and save them on my hard drive in a format that I can burn the mix in a cd?

cubase with XP-50

I can not get XP-50 sounds while using cubase. No signal comes and the program does not respond.
If I use with creative, only 1 track(channel) works.
I do not have the owner manuel, if the problem exist with the setup of XP-50 i do not now what to do...

when i use the on screen keyboard, however, (in audio hq)no problem. in cubasis it even says the name of the instrument i want:bank 0, prg 1, grand piano. i just cant here the bloody thing! if i record on that channel, the midi mixer fader channel even shows led flashing lights!

Hi i've got cubasis vst and i've completed my tune but i want to record it to cd,i've got a cd re-writer and recordable disks but i cant save it as wav it only saves as steinberg song file so i cant export it to my re-writer
any info would be much appreciated..!

Howdy all,

I'm using Digital Performer 2,72on a Mac G4(350 agp) Mac OS 9.0 , lots of ram and disk space, During extended recording circumstances to 2-track transfers from a cassette deck, huge spikes and pops show up that are not on the source material. I'm using a 2408 connected to a Yamaha 01v via light pipe and the main clock is coming from the internal PCI 324 bus setting. any thoughts as to how to solve this probelm?

This looks like you have two word clock masters. Remember that only one piece of equipment in a setup can be the clock master, and everything else must be slaved to it. You write that your master is the 324 card. Are you sure then that the 01v's clock is set to "optical in", "ADAT" or the like? (I don't know the 01v and what definitions Yamaha uses.) Try also the opposite, i.e. define the 01v as master and the 324/2408 as slave. You can set the audio source to be the word clock slave, but make sure you have light pipes connected both ways (in to out and out to in).

Oh - and always turn down your speakers when making changes to clock settings. :o

no it has no sampler
hard disk recording software
rewire facilities ie.rebirth and reason
vst2 instruments like vst5
xport to wav mp3 etc.very good software.

Cramming Low quality MP3's onto an audio disk!

I have got about 12 mp3 tracks. They are about 30 mins long each. However they are only about 9 Megs each. My CD brun software won't let me use them when they are converted into low quality wav files? Does anyone know how I could get them on? Or does anyone know a burner that isn't so fussy!

help mixing

I need a fool-proof mixing program that I can use to mix/combine tracks I dowload from Napster. I want to burn them onto a cd but I want a continuous sound. I am not experienced with mixing.
