There was this interesting music program demo that we used for about a day or two in my music comp. class.

It was really easy to use, anybody, musician or not, could use it.

It was sort of like a game. On the main screen there were a whole bunch of circles floating around and you used the mouse to click on one of the circles. Each one was like a mini game where you can create music. One game had an ambient sound in the background and you added balls to the screen, each ball would make a different sound when it came in contact with a wall or another object.

Novation Supernova II and Cakewalk

Do anyone have any experience with Nova / Supernova / supernova II and Cakewalk.. I am about to buy a supernova II but I've heard that the combination with cakewalk can cause problems with sysex dumps or something (because the size of the dumps from the synth) I have a Pentium 2, 350 MHz PC and Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.. Tell me about your experiences!

MIDI to USB problem

Hardware: New Apple PowerBook, Yamaha Clavinova CLP840, Midiman MidiSport 1x1 USB MIDI Interface.

Software: Finale 3.7.2, D-SoundPRO, FreeMidi, OMS, SoundStudio.

Unable to configure FreeMidi or OMS to recognize Yamaha as keyboard. Asks for Serial or Modem Port. Needs to recognize USB. Would appreciate some instruction. Just getting started. Thank you.

Make sure you have OMS 2.3.8 which should recognize you USB midi interface.

How to burn a cd from Roland VS-840 ??

I am looking to have a demo cd from the songs I recorded in the VS 840 .... and I thought you can use the zip and put it in your pc .. and burn a cd
but could not .. I guess

how do I do that then ???? as my mac computer does not have a sound card ... only internal zip drive and a usb/firewire external cd writer ?????
or you have any suggestions on other digital recorder out there in the market .... that will suit best my situation ..

I just bought 2 sample CD`s that are un-cut and i was wondering how to cut these up so i can make loops for acid.maybe theres a program that does it all for you ? i know soundforge does it but i was not sure how any ideas please ?

I want to use my Roland Keyboard to perform midi parts. no problem. I want to use my keyboard sounds, not the sounds generated by my sound card. How do I do this without taking up wave space and keeping it midi?

On the MIDI track you want to play to your keyboard in XG Works, select your MIDI out driver, and then under the channel heading, select the channel your keyboard is set to recieve on. Should then play or recieve data from your keyboard. I assume that's what you wanted to know.

I have rca's out of my mixer piped directly into the 'line in' of my soundcard via an rca-to-mini jack converter which I bought at radio shack for around $6. If the computer and turntable setup aren't located near each other you can also purchase rca cord extenders.

I run soundforge on my PC and record from line in, and the mix it up on the turntables.

cubase and yamaha XG

I tried downloading a pattern from a Yamaha QY70 into cubase vst score but I couldn't make cubase access the mandolin sound. Apparently this is quite a common problem, there appears to be no way from the GM/GS/XG Editor window to choose XG voices! Does anybody have the answer

Some time ago I received a free CDROM with some Roland Karaoke player software on it.

I have worked out how to edit the midi file to emmbed lyrics using cakewalk but this is very time consuming.

Are there any sites where I can download midi files that already contain lyrics or is there an easier way of adding lyrics to the midi file?

crossfade in Sound Forge?

I have a two 60 sec sine waves (same pitch) which I would like to splice together. What is the best way to do this in Sound Forge 4.0? Everything I do just gets a bump in the sound. Thanks.

enhancing/cleaning MP3s for burning

Who can recommend a software that will enhance the 128kbps MP3 so that it will sound acceptable when burned to audio CD? This is because I want to make a compilation CD of tracks from MP3.com and 128 bitrate is as high as they go.

Hey there

I hope you are going to pay the artists whose music you burn to CD! Anyway, the big problem with trying to improve the sound of MP3 files is that you can't really improve the quality to anything outstanding. MP3 uses destructive compression and basically you can only work with the sound contained in the MP3 file. Your best bet would be to convert the MP3s to WAV and then do a little audio restoration.

Please read <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_109/">this article</a> which explains what MP3 is.

You might find some useful audio restoration software <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_RESTORATION/">here</a>.

Okay..
It's not a small or simple software but Cakewalk does print really nice music sheets, from midi files, and have the possibilty of adding lyrics to them..
I'm sure there are some other midi-sequencers that does the same but I dont know the names of them..
