cubase - delta
I can't seem to get any sound out of my cubase VST24 when using it with a delta 44 sound card(breakout box)
Has anyone managed to solve this problem? the ASIO drivers seem to be being used by the wave drivers, so my computer thinks?
I can get sound out using a Cool Edit Pro program.
Any help would be appreciated.
mp3 --> wav help needed for WinAmp 1.81
Hello there,
I was wondering if someone is able to help me with this. I'm still a v1.81 WinAmp (yes, I know it's on the old side :) ) user & was wondering if there's a reliable (or as much as it could be!:) ) mp3 to wav converter I could get.
I understand the later versions of WinAmp have a built-in one but is there a plug-in I could get for my version?
Thank you for the help in advance. :)
Cheers. :)

Looking For Fraunhofer MP3 Codec
I want to broadcast on Live365.com and shoutcast.com at 128kbps and I understand that the codec is available either through Fraunhofer or elsewhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? 56kbps isn't bad but 128kbps would be much better.

HOW to get clean(I MEAN REALLY CLEAN)Real Audio files???
How can i get really great sounding real audio at like, 20kpbs mono? Any good programs that can do that?
Re: HOW to get clean(I MEAN REALLY CLEAN)Real Audio files???
Use SoundForge and get some good plugins such as the dbx compressor and a good parametric tube equalizer and start experimenting. That is what I have done and it works very well. You ca hear some of this at my site.

Soundfont to Akai / Giga Converter
I am running Gigasampler without a Creative / Emu soundcard and I just stumbled upon a mecca of free sundfonts (http://www.thesoundsite.net/sf_uc_dirlist.tml ).
I would like to be able to use the soundfonts in Gigasampler as either Akai or Giga format whilemaintain the sounfont layerings / keymaps. I could just buy a reative / Emu soundcard, but I'm a cheap loser.
If anyone knows of a soundfont to akai / giga converter on the market, please tell me. If it's Awave, so be it - I'll get another soundcard (jokes).
Bye

Can't load Wav file in Soundforge
I get a message that tells me the wav file needs Microsoft compression manager compatible drivers. As far as I can make out, these codec drivers are installed. What can I do?
Re: Can't load Wav file in Soundforge
Hi
If you have a registered version of the program, you should head to the Sonic Foundry site and contact customer support.
Cheers

synching cubase through JV1090
I am trying to synch following:
keyboard into computer 1 running cubase audio XT V3.05
JV1080 sound module thru midi to
computer 2 running Cubase VST/24 V3.7
I cannot get the midi through the thru of the JV1080. This I do not understand.
I have now tried it with one computer feeding the other then onto the sound module. This creates a problem when recording audio and is not the ideal solution. However I also have another problem synching the cubases when I am running audio on computer 2 and midi sequencing the JV1080 with computer 1 the audio cuts out quite a lot and the position markers do not match.
Does anyone have experience in similar setups and sofware?
mpeg layer-3

TDM software(k)
heard rumours of dodgy tdm software does anyone know anything about this overly expensive platform? If so drop us a line.
ps:
Am I now in trouble?
Hey there
To run TDM softawre, you need special TDM farm cards and a TDM adapter. Only pro-tools supports any of this.
Huh?
Dodgy TDM software?? TDM, (I could be wrong) requires hardware to use. I think it is part of the Pro-Tools system and therefore I think you need the Pro-Tools (Fullon version) hardware.
Nothing dodgy about that...

midi player for Mac
looking for midi player for Mac. and help would be great!
Drag...
Drag and drop the Midi file onto the Quicktime application and it will play the midi file with the quicktime instruments. (The instruments are comparable to a cheap soundcard so don't expect the world!).

audio bleeding/leaking
Hi
Could somone please help me out here. I have a copy of logicfun, on which I have recorded a demo, but the audio tracks keep bleeding/leaking on to each other. Please could someone tell me how to solve this problem, it would really be a big help.
Thanks for taking the time to read this if possible please HELP!
Cross talk.
That sort of thing usually happens within a mixing desk or similar multichannel device and is known as Crosstalk. It is unlikely that you have that happening from within the program unless you have an auxillary send set up (foldback) that is sending some of each of the channels into on return. Other than that, it could be something to do with your soundcard, is it cheap and nasty??
Like steve said, try it within another sequencer and see what happens.

sounds funny - is the problem with LogicFun? If not then reinsta

Delete song from playlist after listening
Hello!
Does anyone know of a program which will delete a song from a playlist after listening to it? The idea is to create a huge playlist, and not to listen to any song twice.
Thanks
strange request!
You could use the 'shuffle' facility on say Winamp and each song will be played only once until all have been played through (in a random manner).
steve
Re: strange request!
Problem is, if your computar crashes, you loose your position in the list...

mmm that's true but how often are u crashing?!! It shouldn't be a common occurance if just playing back mp3 files.
If u crash a lot you can try defragmenting your hard drive with the Windows defrag facility Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Defrag and using disk 'clean up' too to delete unused files.

sound deterioration
does converting a wav file to mp3, and then back to wav again and final to mp3 affect the sound quality?
does the sound deteriorate each time i convert the file?
Of course...
I doubt that you will lose much at all. I have done it a few times and haven't noticed a great difference. You will never convert one thing to the other without "ANY" errors at all. I suspect the loss wont be noticable if you are using the best MP3 convertor available to you. Some of them will give bad results so experiment and see if you notice the difference with different convertors.
Steve..>R
Absolutely
wav to mp3 conversion is a 'destructive' process in that information is discarded by the mp3 encoder. So returning mp3 to wav does NOT recreate the exact wav file - information/sound quality is lost never to return:(
There IS a general file compression program which is non-destructive (useful for big file storage) but I can't remember what it's called - maybe Winzip could do it?
steve
I have heard steve..
... that there is another file format that is to be looked at in the same way as MP3 but I have forgotten the extension. I don't think it is readily available yet but it claims to be better quality than MP3 at a 1:12 ratio. Anyone know what it's called or any more information on it???
Steve...R
Yes I 'erd too SteveR:)
I've got a review here from Computer Music Issue 21 of compression formats-
Microsoft WMA (Windows Media Audio)! - comes with copy protection as a major feature:( Media Tools 4 will allow u to create own WMA files apparently and better quality than mp3 over 56k modems because of variable scaling
This one sounds good - VQF or Sound VQ from Yamaha - check this, 1:20 comp (!) and less 'clipping' tham mp3 or greater dynamic range which esp good for orchestral/acoustic. Freeware encoder/player too! I'm gonna check that one meself
Beatnik and A2b are the others reviewed but not up to much. However ALL formats usea 20:1 comp rate! Mp3 is 10:1? Thats not bad. CM end by saying as the future is broadband and huge hard drives that compression won't be around for long - we'll all be downloading the original .wav/CDA or whatever in 10secs flat soon! That must be a few years away for many peeps though and hard drives are still pretty small if u got a couple of hundred .wavs floating about:)
steve
Hmmmm
I might have that magazine. I can't remember where I read it so I will take a look. Got a subscription for that actually... Pretty cheap and worth it for all the free software.... Hoorah!

midi player
Hello, iam looking for a midiplayer which displays an on screen keyboard so when midi files are played the notes being played are shown on the keyboard display.
Do you no of any downloadable software which will do this ? look forward to hearing from you.
Colin.
Re: midi player
Look for software that displays a piano roll such as Cakewalk or Digital Orchestrator, which allows you to see the notes as horizontal lines on a grid with a vertical keyboard.
