freeware notation?

Notation is a bit nonexistant in Freeware I believe. There are some very cheap examples. Many Midi/Audio sequencers have very usable Notation funcionality and Massiva and Anvil Studio are Freeware. You will also find great free givaways on the cover CD's of Computer Magazines if u look around. Click link at top of main page for software download pages.

i am a bit lost, and would appreciate some help. can anyone tell me of some software for a beginner to use to start making music, with the samples already in, like music 2000? is there a place to download this, or similar software, such as dance e-jay?

If you want something like eJay with all the samples, you'll have to buy the CD-ROM as I doubt you'd want to download 600Mb of samples.

But if you're just starting out, try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/FruityLoops_win95/">FruityLoops</a>.

Or head to <a href="http://www.acidplanet.com/">AcidPlanet</a>, get Acid Express and a sample pack. You can start learning to make music very quickly.

notator dongle

how can I run my old atari notator on a pc? I got an emulator but it wont load, I'm thinking it's the dongle (software key)... I damaged my old disk so I can't use it and my 1040stf wont read pc formatted disks with downloaded software (neither will the pc read the atari's) HELP!!

Mac DVD-RAM for burning audio CDs

I am a church cantor. I do not play the piano. I would like to transcribe a melody line to my computer and then have it play it back in aa quality only good enough tht I can sing with it.
The software must be out there, but I don't know what to ask for.

This is what you are after. You can often find good examples on computer magazine Cd ROM's given away free. If not look at the relevant section of www.sonicspot.com You would be using the midi facility only - input notes on the edit grid, select piano as the track output and away you go - sing to the Lord!!

Download Sonic Foundry Siren. It's free and can do a lot of stuff for you.

CDex will 'rip' tracks from a CD AND convert them to mp3 for u (

Maybe it just shareware in general, but this deal is way too much time and trouble.

After i got it downloaded to use, it won't run so now you need such and such and so on and on. I still have not used it. Good Bye

ACXtractor is a phenominal program for ripping CDs to WAV or MP3. You may need to set some options for your CD drive or download ASPI support for NT/2000/XP but it isn't a hassle and once you're set, you're set. You can use your choice of MP3-encoders (I prefer GOGO.dll) and it's fast.

You need a little techno-prowess but it's a very good program.

This program was DOS and I can't remember the name, but I need to open a bunch of .mts files and hopefully be able to convert these files to something that is usable on a 32 bit system. It was a basic music editor. They can be opened in notepad and the words extracted, but I would like to have the notation also and this only shows up as numbers. Thanks

cd burner software

You need a CD-RW drive. The mp3's (?) need to be converted to .wav before burning to CD with CDburning software. THe result will play in a standard CD player or u can burn the mp3's themselves but then they could only be played via a CD ROM drive. Click software link at top of main page for relevant apps

Vocal extraction is not possible all u can try is EQing out unwanted frequencies. An Audio/midi sequencer will allow u to input different cuts on different tracks for mixdown

Hello Alex,

Your question is not completely clear - do u need a piano tuition program or a Computer Recording tutorial program? I think u mean piano tuition? Well I don't know of one specifically but a great site to look around is www.sonicspot.com where u will find tuition programs for people your age under the 'Educational' listing.

If u want to record on a computer and have some pocket money to spare then without a doubt Data Becker's 'Music Centre Pro' would be an excellent program for u. It looks really nice, has unrivalled midi integration, is easy to use and will allow u to create complete top quality songs - all for just £29UK.

VIENNA 2.3

I recently downloaded Vienna 2.3 along with a couple of sound fonts from another site. I was looking forward to using it and trying out the new sounds, but every time I try to run the programme I get the following message:
"Unable to initialize the sound font compatible device driver - There is no sound font compatible divice detected."
WHY??? - Is my bog standard sb16pci sound card at falt or should I have downloaded something else along with Vienna?

As far as I know, soundfonts are only supported by AWE64 and Soundblaster Live!. AWE stores the soundfonts on the card and the Live! uses your system RAM. I think there are emulators available, so I suppose the answers to your questions are both yes - your soundcard is at fault, therefore you need to download something else, but I'm not sure what. Why not buy a soundblaste Live!, they're pretty cheap these days and support multiple recordings, 3D output and have on-board FX.

Im having the same problem as these other people
Vienna won't work and the program came with my sound card "Audigy Platinum" I get an error message saying: "There is no Soundfont compatible device detected" How do I get this thing to work??

hello? i just bought a lap top, have a brand spanking new guitar and want to know how i can plug in and start fucking around with midi? what cables do i need? what softare? can i play real time through my machine...creat rythm loops...jam with my self?...many questions, looking for answers.

I use a G-VOX guitar midi bridge and it works reasonably well.
Has a jam along thing in it and i like the Midisoft notation program it comes with.
Should be able to type G-VOX into the browser and find them.

These guys are cool. It is so weird that they have made it so difficult to find the way to enter the fake reg code...I HAVE TO FIND A WAY!!!

Ihave been looking 4 the Manual for the last 2 month in other places and for about a month in this forum but nowbody seems to have it or nowbody wants to help.
What can i say i must keep on looking ,if i find anything i'll let u know,don't forget about me either,
you may be the lucky one.
(and it's really horrible workin' without it,right?)

have you been lucky? same thing happens to me, can't find the .pdf file and I can't afford the original soft (the cost is more than someone would earn here for a couple of months of working), and i am not a professional musician.
