Re: m3u / pls
It simply is just a file that stores the name and location(On your disc) of the MP3's in that list, if you put it into your MP3 player, it should fidn those files, and play them

How do I take the voice out from a song?!!!
Can someone tell me how to take the voices out of a song, leaving the music alone?
Thanks

Try a program called <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=vocal+remover">AnalogX Vocal Remover</a>. The
results will vary depending on how the song was
recorded - if the vocals are perfectly in the
center of stereo then the results will be pretty
good.

Easy CD Creator is better than Nero, from what I hear

Help! What equipments do I need to do recording?
I would like to do home recording, what equipments do I need? Multitracker? Sampler and Sequencer? (I already have a boss DR660 drum machine, guitar, bass and some guitar effects)what can i do with all these device?
If I already have a very good PC, like Pentium 3 with 500MHZ, is it better to use the PC for the same purpose? What hardware and software I need?
which way is the cheaper way at the moment? Thank you!
John
Re: Help! What equipments do I need to do recording?
My band records and edits entirley on an AMD K6-3 running at 400MHz with 128MB of RAM and as SBLive! card and this setup works just fine. You don't need ADAT and all that crap if you ask any of us. Big hint: load it up with memory!!! I use SoundFonts, which is something the SBLive! can do. It's like a sampler in your computer and it is MIDI based, so you can use your computer as a MIDI sampler. It's easier to use than a real sampler.
For software: Cakewalk is great. Just learn how to use it. I got started on Voyetra Digital Orchestrator, which is almost exactly like Cakewalk. And, Digital Orchestrator is like $50 or so now. It's limitation is that you can only record 4 tracks of digital audio.
Get a good mixer, I recommend starting with a Peavey 8 channel. Used, you can get one for $200 or so. You don't need a million dollars into speakers to listen to what youre doing either. For a while I mixed on a pair of 6 1/2" Infinity speakers driven by a Sony reciever. It WORKS and it's cheap. Get some good microphones if you don't want to plug in your guitar direct. Buy some used mics.
The best thing with this type of setup is you can always add more stuff.
Good Luck

VS840EX or VS 880EX, which is better?
hi, I am looking for a digital multitracker for home-recording purposes, i noticed that there are wide range of product in the market and roland VS series seem to be the best. Is it worth it to pay extra to get the VS880EX instead of VS840EX? Other recommendation like Korg D8, Yamaha MD8S? (I need 8 tracks).
Beside that, I would also like to know how set basic system for home-recording? Do I need a sampler, sequencer, or even some softway? What do I actually need other than multitracker to make song?
Re: VS840EX or VS 880EX, which is better?
i have a VS840ex and very happy with it
it is 1/2 the price of the 880 only for HD storage instead of 250 zip and a few minor
options not worth it.
For home usage even pro it does the job
you can download zip disk to HD using a pc not mac
and also send tracks to pc sequensor i use Sonar.
More help..? just email me...

Can you dump the tracks from the zip-disk into some PC computer-based multi-tracking software? Cubase, Cakewalk, Nuendo??
THanks!
Re: VS840EX or VS 880EX, which is better?
I got the VS-840EX and it is incredible for the
cost ($999, Sam Ash). Right now Im just using it
to lay down guitar tracks. If you only need eight
tracks, this is the one to buy. You can lay down
6 tracks, mix down to stereo, and then lay down
another six and mix it all down to an external
unit (cassette, CD writer, ect.) without any sound
degradetion whatsoever.
Re: VS840EX or VS 880EX, which is better?
i have a banana boat liverin my room. he comes equipped with shaped shells about 5" in diameter. he sleeps towards the end of the day, usually around 7:00.
Band Pass Editing
I need to take certain freqs. out of some wav files.
What I need is pretty simple, Low freqs out almost
entirely. Leaving all upper freqs alone. Is there
any software that will do that for me? Thanks
Re: Band Pass Editing
Any Digital editor like soundforge, cooledit, goldwave, etc, just use FFT, it lets you graphically cut frequencies, and adjust them to any level... it's very flexible

VSC-88 - How Do I ...?
Hi, Does anyone know how you stop the VSC-88 from automatically loading and sitting in the system tray upon boot. I only have the demo version but I still do not want it sitting in the tray.
Re: VSC-88 - How Do I ...?
If you are running win 98 you can use msconfig. Type in msconfig on the start menu run and go to start up. Unclick the box that shows it loading on start up.
That way it won't load when windows does

Vocalist/Music major needs PC help!!!
well, i'm looking to purchase a laptop that can do lots of stuff rolled into one. i heard mac is the way to go for musicians......i want to be able to audio record as well. are there internal mikes in laptops or would i need to hook one up and get a recording software program? is there a way to record directly on to cd? or does it have to be a sound card? anyways, i basically want a laptop for word processing and internet for school, audio recording for my music, and mp3 wouldn't hurt either!! is there a laptop that can do all this? Ahhhh! i just need help figuring out what to get and make it easy and have it do everything i need!! PLEASE HELP ME!!
Re: Vocalist/Music major needs PC help!!!
Well, Macs are good but their laptops are not good for anything related to audio whatsoever. Get a laptop with a lot of memory, that is more important that processor speed. Check out a Dell, and if you can get it, I recommend an AMD processor.
Any more quesions, feel free to ask. I have a completely computer based setup and know how to use it (that's dangerous!)
Good luck

Newbie To Midi-Need Some Help
Im A newcomer to Midi. Where can I get basic info on
how to get started? I have a Roland EM-10 into my Comp.
which has an ASUS K7M motherboard with the onboard Yamaha
sound card. I have installed Massiva for recording and
Im starting to get the hang of what Im doing, but still
need help. Also, I have a Roland VS-840EX for multitracking
my guitar tracks, ect. and need to find out how to get
the midi keyboards off of my computer and into the input
of that. Do you run a line from the soundcard line out into
the multitrack, or is there excess voltage out of there?
Any info will be appreciated. Thanx
Re: Newbie To Midi-Need Some Help
You can run the line out of your computer, but watch the output level until you get used to how much signal you can run with. Start with your main mixer level all the way down and edge it up until it's where you want it.
Good luck

Re: direct x plug in effects
Your editoing program has to have a DirectX host or be DirectX compatible... which most are.. Soundforge, VST, cakewalk, etc..
