...No settings at all, just forget it..
ReBirth was not meant to be used as a sampler or synth module...:(
There's a lot of 909 sample-kits on the web and a lot of freeware DirectX and VST samplers. Load your favorite 909 samples and jam !

Since PowerPoint can play wav and midi files simultaneously I need software that can convert a wav file to a midi file. Is there any such thing. Or on that will allow me to record voice narration in midi format.

If you need to use mulitple sounds, mix then down into a single track.. using SF Vegas.. it works good.

I think you are over estimating the cabablilities of MIDI.

The logistics involved in what you are trying to do (with the voice) are almost incomprehensibly complex. To assign a format syllable to each key, you'd only get 128 different sounds. A thought, though. Then we'd have to resolve all words into syllable sounds.

Now that's a project.

Unfortunately you can't record your narration using
MIDI because MIDI does not contain sounds, only
intructions for what sounds to play.

There is an excellent tutorial on this site called
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_105/">What's the difference between Wave, MIDI, MOD and MP3?</a>
which will explain everything much better than I do.

i found out!! yay! All you have to do is go to

and download the "real producer" and it converts
from .wav to real audio/media!! Cool huh?

I know this is a bit off subject, but I'm desperate...I just got a new disk (3 1/2 floppy) which contains important info. that i need as soon as possible... and when i try to open it, it says "this disk is not formatted, do you want to format it now?" and then the "yes" and "no"...please help me, what should i do?
I have to get the informationo ff the disk FAST
and URGENTLY!

Whatever you do - don't format it or you'll lose
your important information. Try opening it on
another computer.

eteko, you can't totally get rid of vocals even
though there aer progs here that say they can -
like the analogx vocal remover in the plug-ins
section of this site.There is also a Karoke
section i this site too.

As you all know, Metallica banned apr. 300,000 users from Napster...

WEll, I never at any time, downloaded Metallica songs from Napster in fact, I never downlaoded ANY songs using the login name in question. however, when I went to use ot today, since my friends login was banned, it said that my un-used one was banned also.

Interesting, huh?

I filled out the counter-sueing form at

I really want to get into remixing music, but I am not sure what software to go with. I want to pull certain sounds out of existing songs on CD's (equalizer?) make my own percussion etc (drum machine/pad?) and mix all of my stuff together!
This is more experimental so I don't want some high end software package, or equipment. I just want to play around and make my own music!
You know the kind of stuff beck remixes....YES THAT! So if anybody knows what he uses, or what I will need.... H E L P M E !

Cakewalk9 & sound fonts

Theres a noise reduction plugin that works in Sound FOrge like a champ. It samples a part of the song with the instrumentation and then filters out that part granted the vocals dont sound too much like the instruments. There still is some noise left but it works pretty darn good.

You can do that yourself if you have a loop-based song (all instrument parts identical) and a phase inverter plugin (free one is available from www.analogx.com)

Heck, even if they turn on some loops sometimes and some times not, you can isolate those instruments and then phase reverse them to isolate them at any point in the song:
Like this:

Bass beat starts: a phase reversed copy will cancel it from anywhere in the song.

Next, the Bass beat is joined by light instrument tracks: Destructively paste the phase reversed copy of the bass beat onto the new loop, and the instrument tracks are isolated.
Now you have a reversed copy of the bass beat by itself, and a phase reversed copy of the instruments (all separate).
If the instruments appear behind vocals, now you can take them out. If you only had a sample of the instruments with a bass beat, you wouldn't have been able to isolate the vocals with the bass beat+ instrument loop.

And so on.

Hope that makes more sense.

You can try filtering out the highs and the lows, but it's not that effective, worth a shot though. As of now there aren't any plug ins that do this (that I know).

How do they get songs from me if I dont have an ftp site? Hi Kelly,

It means basically this: When you are 'sharing', it means that other Napster users who are using Napster at the time have the ability to download any or all of those 8 songs from your hard drive. Napster has a built-in interface which allows you to download from other computers, but all those other Napster users specify which directory they make public for sharing. I am not aware of any security issues with this at present but have used Napster and everything seemed fine. From my understanding, the way people will find your songs will be by searching by artist or title. There is a new version out now at Napster.com or <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Napster/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Napster/</a>.

I am looking for the name(s) of programs that are supposed to be able to take .wav files and audio format tracks and seperate them into different tracks. Although I only believe this to be half true, Id really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
I have found some shareware stuff that claims to do this, but so far it can only take little parts and convert it to midi such as Taking a piano solo thats audio and changing it to midi.
I am looking for a way to take one of my songs that I have deleted the Midi files so that I can seperate it back up and remix it.

Serial Copy Management System. It's a devise, devised by the record industry (800 pound lawyers) to stop you using CD burners to copy a 'digital copy' of a CopyRight album, digitally. (That does actually make sense...)

It is an imposed agreement with manufacturers of digital domestic media (Audio CD burners, DCC, MiniDisc...) that requires them to fit an SCMS locating device to ALL digital domestic audio devices in order to stop people pilfering.

Pay a little more and you could by a 'professional' (snore...) CD burner, say, that doesn't have the SCMS circuitry. Or of course, a computer based CD burner that's never heard of SCMS.

Domestic Audio CD burners only work with the much more expensive "blank CD's for Music" that have the SCMS code's already written to them. The reason they are more expensive is because a lot of the money goes to the record companies on the strength that you are probably going to copy, 'copyright material'...(whether you do or not, you've got to pay) the same can be said of other blank recordable media... (legal ripoff of the century, don't you think??)

The whole idea is a shame and unworkable because it doesn't apply itself to everything, not even close...

I don't know if hte same applies to the UK as does in Canada and the USA, but if you own a legal copy of a CD, then you are allowed to copy
it, but not sell/distribute it.. anyways, if you have a burned CD, it's not like the coppers are gonna come bust your door down.

So, basically, if you bought a copy of every Backstreet Boys CD (Barf :( ) , then you would be allowed to make your own compilation of any of those songs on a CD-r, but you can not legally sell it or distribute it.

EMU formatted disc / MACINTOSH / SCSI

How do I get my Macintosh to allow me to use the CD-rom drive and Jazz drive connected to SCSI without the Mac insisting that I either (1) eject the disc or (2) format the disc in Mac or Dos format?

Is there a control pannel? Do I need special software? Does it have anything to do with SCSI ID numbers? Please help.

For the jazz drive go into extensions manager and turn off the Iomega extension and i think you should do the same for the rom drive, if it is an external cd rom.....
