Ok...not really.
I just need to know what software I need!
What I want to do is edit music from my CD's and do some very basic remixing. An equalizer, I think, is a must; so please help me out here!

an EQ is a small part of it.. you need a smpling program.. I.E FruityLoops or SF Acid.. that's a start

of a free/cheap program to produce a bit of music on. It has to be very very easy to use (ie press a key and it makes a sound, press different one and you get
a different sound) But with a menu for different
instruments. I remember using something like
I want on a Amiga years and years ago. Anybody
got any ideas. I just want it to make it
a bit of funky background music for a project
I am working on.

my boyfriend is currently using music 2000 for the playstation and it is easy to use
not to creative though. he has no music experience and what he makes is good for a beginner.

but if it is midi you are looking for, I started with cubase a while ago and It is relatively easy to use.
as I posted earlear ther is a free copy on the cover of the may issue of guitarist. it is well worth looking at.
all you need then is a midi keaboard and hay preato.

If you use a program like total recorder, you can record the output generated to your soundcard, so when you play a .ram file, you can record it to .wav
It only costs $11, so you might as well buy it.

hiya. this is probably old news and you have long solved the conversion problem but i thought i'd respond anyway just in case. there is a progrom called ra2wav.exe that works well for converting... well, ra files to wav files. find an older bata version for free. I'm trying to find a way to convert rm to wav myself and have had no luck. if in your travles you happen to find a way to do this maybe send the info my way. thanks

Yamaha EX file structures/formats

I want to create a patch editor for the Yamaha EX series of synths so that voices file can be loaded into the program and the voices switched between files. (Trying to do this by loading one voice at a time from various disks on the synth is very tedious and slow!). I have gotten a rough idea of the file formats using the data tables at the back of the manual and am able to display a list of all the voices/performance settings but I can't determine what all the sections of the file are, therefore making saving of the file incorrect.

Now, what I am trying to find out:

Does anybody know the exact file record structures for the EX range (particularly the EX5)?

Yamaha won't give this info out. Does anyone know whether there is already an editor for these synths kicking about somewhere?

I look forward to any replies.

Sounds interesting... I have the EX5R and could do with something like that although I connect with the Macintosh.

Looking for a text writer for my songs

Using paper to label the actual CD is likely to
cause problems when playing as the paper may
fold/wrinkle and get in the way of the CD player
mechanisms. It is best to get CDs professionally
printed or simply use an ink marker to write on
the TOP of the CD.

Chances are that your paper is too heavy. Try using
only special labels made for the purpose.

Another possibility is that they will skip in some
CD players but not others - I've noticed that some
of the cheaper CD players are not very tollerant of
problems.

Different and too low volumes!

Hi,

when i record audio-files and wanna burn them on a cd or record them on a tape, i got always the problem that the volume is different and the most files are too quiet... Ok, i can set up the volume with an wave editor like wavestudio or cooledit, but that lasts over an hour for 60 minutes of music... And normalizing with audiocatalyst or all the other programs also doesnt function, because when the volume is too low, normalizing doesn't set it higher...
Who knows a program that can set the volume to the right (cd-recording)level and that doesnt last so much time!
PLEASE HELP ME!

I own and run a website -- and every page I've accented with a midi score. But they all play at different volumnes; in the Welcome screen, you have to turn it way up to hear; but then, when you go to the Index page, you end up deaf from a suddenly high volume. What can I do?
