I'd love to know it's whereabouts too. Just got a copy of RealPlayer Plus and am pissed that you can't always record the RA stream (which is why I bought the %^&%*$ thing!)

the .vox extension is an old one. I have an old
386 based answering system still in use at my
current employer that runs under dos 6.22 which
uses that extension using what appears to be an
8 bit sound card for the conversion/compression.

The only way I have of playing files created by
this particular application is with the piece of
commercial software that created them (Amanda at
work answering system ver 2.2), and if the system
admin wants archived copies of messages, I have
to first convert them back to analog format (tape)
then compress them to .mp3 format for redundant
digital storage. We do this dual backup for
legal reasons. I am too searching for an app that
would skip the analog step, but have had no luck.

AmazingMIDI automatically transcribes music, converting WAV files into MIDI files. It can recognize single-instrument polyphonic music. It's a powerful tool to help you to transcribe music, to practice musical instruments and to make MIDI files, and so on.

AmazingMIDI creates an Output File (.mid) from an Input File (.wav) that contains musical data, and a Tone File (.wav) that consists of monotone data. AmazingMIDI analyzes the Input File, assuming that every sound in the file is played with the same tone color as the one in the Tone File. As a result, even if the music contains several different instruments, AmazingMIDI writes down all detected notes as a single-instrument music.

The quality of music recognition depends on the tone color of the music. AmazingMIDI is suitable for analyzing the precise-frequency attenuating sounds like piano or guitar. The drum sound becomes only noise.

Currently, automatic music transcription has no substantial solution in general, but with some restrictions of the domain, it can be both possible and useful. AmazingMIDI is one of these systems, and is still in its infancy. However, again, it's a powerful chord analyzer.

If you want to censor lyrics. You can use an audio editor like goldwave. Just highlight the word you want censored and reverse it. That's how it's done everywhere when you hear the word kind of scrambled. Or select mute if you want to have it cut out. Then you will have silence.

GET YOUR SELF A COPY OF COOL EDIT AND THEN GET A PLUGIN FOR IT CALLED VOCAL X REMOVER IT CAN BE FOUND ON THIS SITE UNDER FREE SOFRTWARE UNDER PLUGINS

I am getting pops and skips on my cassette to
wav recordings however I have turned off all
programs on the computer except the recorder
itself and I am still getting these noises.
I was told that it might be my virtual memory
settings in Win95 but I cannot find information
pertataining to this. If anyone knows how I
can get rid of these sounds it would be much
appreciated. I have a PIII 450 with 64mbRam
and Sis620 Motherboard with onboard Soundcard.

I doubt it's your virtual memory - more likely
interuptions when streaming the data to disk.
Some programs are better at handling this than
others - I've found the built in Windows Sound
Recorder is terrible for producing your problem
but once I started using <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">Cool Edit 96</a> it worked
fine.

I found some great underground house, and I would love to put it on CD. It is in real audio format. I know how to convert RA to WAV, but I can't get the RA file on my computer. I have found the file in my systems "temp" directory. however when I play it, it just streams it onto my computer, Can anybody help me with this problem?
