I would look for the midi file of the song you need on the web, or sheet music

No - not really. To understand why you should read the tutorial on this site: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9903_101/">A quick primer on converting WAV to MIDI and vice versa</a> (MP3 is the same as WAV for this purpose)

I just remembered there is a program which can work out what the chords are in a recording: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Chordfinder/">Chordfinder</a>

is this possible with this creative card?

i would like to record a drum track alongside a synthesiser- and i would like the decay, attack etc to be manipulated in real time? will i need a live! card or is there a way to do this? ie i know for midi conflicts one can use hubi's loopback.

Hi!

Soundfonts are samples of sounds. It can be anything from real instruments (piano) to drum beats. SF was introduced by Creative Labs soundcards:AWE, Sound Bluster. Until recently if you don't have those sound cards you cannot use soundfonts. Now there are several tools available. One the most affordable is SeerSystems SurReal (www.seersystems.com). Demo is available. With this software synth you can open SF bank (even if you don't have Sound Bluster) save it as SeerBank (who cares!) and even apply variations.

SoundFonts are sample banks for the AWE and SBLive soundcards.
If you don't own own one, don't bother about SoundFonts...:)

Cleaning up vinyl/cassettes?

Does anybody know of any free or shareware software that'll help me remove the clicks & pops from my old vinyl and the hiss from cassettes before burning on to CD?

Short answer : .WAV - yes! (Usually) all CD writers will save .WAV format as Audio Files. I do not know about MP3??

looking for rap songs

distortion in ripped .WAV files

I've tried several different rippers to extract files from my CDs and when I play the .WAV file it has a very bad distortion in the sound. Sometimes it clears up part way thru the playback and it seems to happen mainly on the first track of the CD. So, if I rip the whole CD all of the other tracks may be OK except for the first one.

I'm using a TORiSAN CDR-U200 CD in a Dell Latitude CP notebook with a built-in Crystal PnP Audio System sound board.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this and what I can do to eliminate it?
