decompressor

Does anyone know what the vids: SVQ1 decompressor is? I can't play any of my .avi files. If anyone knows where I could get it I would be soooo grateful.

im buzy looking. try the news groups that contain
MULTIMEDIA or something. someone in a popular newsgroup might be
able to post the codec. (if he/she does let me know) thanks.

Sorenson Video and QDesign Music 2 for Windows Media Player

Is there Sorenson Video and QDesign Music 2 decompressors for Windows Media Player 6.xx?
The decompressors that came with QuickTime 4 is not fast enough for a 200Mhz Pentium MMX.
The QuickTime 4 itself is slower than version 3. Much like the Windows Media Player 7.xx.

It is a weard kind of decompressor.I'v never seen it in decompressing my .avi files.
Can you tell me the source of the videofiles you wnt to play.
Normally you have decompressors from Intel or in soffesticated cases from micosoft (MPEG4).
Try to search in Altavista :codecs SVQ1

I do a lot of stuff with back-up tapes. I am wondering
if there is any software that will allow me to strip
out the vocals (without destroying it too much). Also
I'm looking for software that will allow me take a
track and change the key it is in without distortion.
Any thoughts? Even creative ones with work arounds -
unconventional means of accomplishing this.

CD-R vs. CD-R DA

I tried to post this messageonce but it did not show up.

I want to record some tracks from old record albums to a CD to play on home and auto audio equipment.

Can I use CD-R media or do I need to use CD-R DA media. I was under the impression that the DA media was for DISC duplication only but I have been told that it is the only media that will play in audio equipment.

most cd-r will play in audio or auto
i have never come across one that doesn't.
the only discs that won't work are cd-rw

I am getting a little confused and hope that someone can give so advise. I desire to copy some old record albums to CD so I can play in my CD player both at home and in the car. Do I need to use CD-R media, or CD-R DA?

What software do you use to record from the record albums? I am using my Mac for this so there may be some limitations but I would still like to know.

The mac built in sound is 16 bit, two channel and seems to work pretty good for input. I connect the turntable to a pre-amp, and then directly to the Mic input. I have been try to use Ultra Recorder which is shareware. It woorks OK but is limited with regard to things like gain control.

I still need to get the CD-R drive to try and burn an audio CD, but don't want to go to the expense until I know I can do what I want to.

What software do you use to create the CD? I have heard that Toast is a good option.

I included link to that site where you can buy software for 25 buks and it allows you to record 2 cds for free to try it. But you have to register it it is free. Then whene you recorded them you have to buy that sofware.

hello! i am searching for any software that will allow me to edit tracks from cd or wav. files.
all i want to be able to do is to take parts of songs (like 30 seconds from various songs) and add them together into one track.
i guess i really want to remix some songs. possibly record the first 5 seconds of a song over and over again for about 30 seconds.
if anyone can understand what the hell i'm trying to say and know of some software, please email me some info at:

The simpliest solution is ACID Music. For a limited time basic fully functional version can be downloaded for free from www.launch.com (go to mixing up with Beck). have fun!

How do you transfer wav files to cd's?

I was reading a followup to a previuos question and it said that in order to transfer an mp3 or a song file to a cd you would need to convert them to the wav file and then transfer the file onto the cd. well i have a question. what do you have to do in order to put a wav onto a blank cd? i dont understand that and i really want to know how. if you could explain this to me it would be much appreciated.

I have a program that converts mp3's to WAV's but is it possable to burn cds with mp3s on it to listen to on a cd player other than the computer. I talked to a friend that said you could but he did not give me much info. Thank you for your time.

yes you need to convert to a wav file ... this ca be acheived simply by playing mp3 through winamp ... winamp is available from most shareware sites like download.com or tucows
once winamp is installed you need to configure it to output file as a wav .... simple as that ... oh yes winamp is not disabled in any way so good luck !!!

Help with midi set-up

I have a soundblaster live and am using its midi port with a split midi in/out adapter. I am running Win98 as my OS. I am trying to get my Ensoniq SD-1 to communicate with Cakewalk 8 but am unable to make the connection no matter what I try. Can anyone give me some hints about the general set up between a midi synth, a SB Live and Win98 (For the moment I am assuming that the physical set up i.e cables etc are ok)? I am at my wits end!
