Anyone know of a software that can help me?
I'd like to put a new beat behind old disco at parties. I tried acid pro. they have a beatmap function but only lets you match 1 measure. It works fine for about 2-3 measures, but since they didnt have digital metronome back then, the beat is always slightly going off kilter until it is a mess.

Need help with fruity loops

Hi. I was rather annoyed when I found that fruity loops was unable to turn off a channel in one pattern while it stays on in another. If anyone knows anyway around this, their help is appreciated. Thanks.

select chan>edit>copy>go to new pattern>paste

for the skake of clarity this is how it needs to be done otherwise HOW will fruity know when to play a channel + when not to?? by using a big page of yes/no/yes/no instructions??? well actually the playlist is just such a utility.

You should get officially licensed music for your voice overs. Otherwise you could well end up with a legal problem or ten. You can ask artists for permission to use their music for free, but you should make sure that you know your legal position as you could still be breaking a law or not paying a fee in your local area (true). Some artists will be happy for you to use their music, while others will say &*%*&%* off if you are too tight to pay them. MP3.com has a service to help people like you. It might be worth seeing what they can do for you.

To do voice overs with music mixed in (pre-recorded i assume) I'd check out n-Track in the multi-track section of this site - available via the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/">front page of the site</a>.

Fruityloops-help-Export2Wav not functioning

I have a problem using Fruity Loops...whenever I make a loop using the Internal MIDI\Soundfont sounds of the soundcard....and do an Export2Wav...it gives me a blank .WAV file....but If I use .WAV samples for my loops ..and then do the same..then its ok....
Now..how do I go about it if I wanna do an Export2Wav using MIDI sounds ?

The file size is larger than most e-mail providers will allow even in Mp3 format, ICQ & MSN will allow file transfers, but trillian will allow you to send via MSN, and ICQ....in one program. This program gives you several instant messenger choices.

Then you do need to worry about the recipient e-mail storage, or the e-mail size allowed by their e-mail provider.

The problem is in the size of the information. CD's can run in excess of 700megabytes of information which would take a long time even with a cable modem. The amount of information most email accounts hold is much much less than that. I have had around 100megs of information in my home (ISP supplied) email account before which was a total suprise.

If you are sending that amount of information to someone, then you could leave it over night on a peer to peer file transfer application or use something like ICQ which has file transfers in real time with whoever has your ICQ number.

The last thought is that you could convert all the files to MP3 and then email them in batches.. The files will be around a 10th the original size (around 5 megs per 5 minute song at 128kbps)although you will lose audio quality.

Audigy Drivers/Software

Is this right? THere is really no way of downloading the Creative Audigy software live we could with the Live!? I have a damaged install disk and now I'm screwed!!! Thanks a lot Creative!!! I take it you're going to have to mail one to me and I'm sure that takes weeks. Blah!

This is becoming something that everyone is trying. If you want some serious feedback then take if from me that people that will give it will not bothered to visit a site that requires personal details to be entered to listen to some music that you will be paid for.

If you want to have people listen to your music, either make it streamable from a free site where you will not financially benefit or don't bother asking...

Miracle Piano

Also, since this unit is no longer sold, can anyone suggest a substitute piano/computer teaching system like it?

I use Cdex - 130 for moving files from wave to mp3 or mp3 to wave files. I also use a free program "White tiger standard" for normalizing music brought into the computer, removing scratches, and setting my sounds at one volume for all CDR I burn

Plug your cassette player into the soundcard's IN port. You can get a cable from an electronic store for a couple of bucks. You should be able to hit play and the sound comes out of the PC speakers.

OK, now you'll need an <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/AUDIO_EDITORS/">audio editor</a>. Goldwave and Cool Edit 2000 are good to use. Hit PLAY on the cassette player and RECORD on the audio editor. You should record the tape onto the hard drive!

If you browse this site, you will find more information on this process. Just look. You'll find out a lot more.

I have checked my aspi and found it as 4.60. However when using rippers such as audio grabber
still an error occurs.Please help me to resolve this matter

Cubase vs. Emagic vs. Pro Tools

Ok - give your opinions and thoughts. I am looking at 3 systems. Cubase VST/32, Emagic Logic Audio Platinum and of course Pro Tools. What do you think, which is the best, the worst and why? Price is not an issue.

Jon is right (other than the sample CD's ... ;0).

It's a matter of taste to some extent apart from the fact that ProTools isn't generally considered to be the forefront in Midi technology. Also, protools is a hardware software system (despite the realization if newer ProTools free and Digi001).

The main critisism with Logic is that the environment takes some getting used to. The main on (I think) for Cubase is that it's tricky on the eyes...

Simplicity is essential these days as I think people spend too much time confusing themselves with varying operating environments where most people would make better progress with a strung instrument.

Logic was my choice for this reason although it's confusing to start off...

my opinion is YOU decide which operating environment you feel most comfortable in and decision is made. remember these hosts are only half the equation. You also need damn good FX, VSTi's + sample CD's to create good work.

I have eextensive knowledge in Analogue and live recording situations. I would like to venture into Computer music recording on a computer but have no clue where to start.
I have been advised that I should look at Steinberg vst 5.1 or Cake Walk sonar software. What puzzles me is what is the appopraite software and what hardware is required.

I must confess Initially I would like to concerntrate on recording and not any sequencing or midi playing.

I would appreciate your assistance and advise.

Hi,

There's really no easy answer. There are a lot
of graet software out there. It depends on a number
of factors to make a choice.

1) What kind of machine do you have?
2) What kind of music are you planning on making,
recording, mixing, mastering, etc..
3) What is your budget?
4) How much knowledge do you have/how much knoweldge
are you willing to gain in that area?

If you have a decent processing power PC, then
cubase and cakewalk are good examples. These are
multitrack editing software. To name a few more,
emagic, ACID Pro, Cool Edit Pro, Sonar, Anvil,
Quartz, Protools, and there are more. I think
the best solution in your case is to take around atleast
a week of experimentation. Download the demos
and shareware of these program and see which one suits you
the most. Protools is one of the best and most
professional in my opinion and I think in the
opinion of the majority but its better for macs.
Most the development of the software get updated
in the mac way before the pc, so if you have a mac
I would suggest protools right away. If NOT, then
Cubase, ACID, Sonar, Emagic, or cooledit pro should
be the second best choices. ACID is good and
generally very simple and intuitive to understand.
Sonar is more for the pro level user. Cooledit pro
is orginally an audio recorder, but since it has many
channels in the pro version, it serves a similar
purpose to the multitrack editing software.

As I said before, it depends on these four factors,
but the best advise would be to experiment yourself
and get what you feel most comfortable with.
You can check out these software from hitsquad too

Hey Boopi!!

all u need for basic recording is a full duplex soundcard and a simple audio sequencer. cubase is very expensive so why not try starting with Quartz Audio's freeware 4-trak sequencer. You should decide on what to buy through personal experience of an app >never< on what someone else thinks about it!

Well, the answers you're going to get will be broad. basically, there are many ways of creating the CD. i'd keep it simple initially. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">n-track</a> is a great multi-track recorder, meaning you can record multiple tracks and mix them together. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/">cool edit 2000</a> is a handy audio editor. To burn to CD, try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Nero_win32/">nero</a>.

Hi,

This topic has been covered over a thousand times
here at hitsquad. You can not do that. All of the
'layers''s frequencies are intermixed together.
There are programs that CLAIM to be able to take out
vocals, never heard of bass before, but they dont
do an even close of an accurate job. The result will
be much lowered vocals and cutting off of other layers'
frequencies like the drums, bass, etc..

If the song format in not an mp3, and you used a
certain type of program where u can open the file
via the program and have everything seperated
then and only then is it possible. An example
would be an ACID saved file, where it pretty much
retrieves the individual wave files from all the channels
then u can take out what u want. However, when dealing
with wave or mp3, know that it is virtually
IMPOSSIBLE.
