Encore 4.5

I have used Encore 4.2 music program for years. I got a WindowsXP computer now but the program does not work with XP. GVOX has a new version Encore 4.5 that works with WindowsXP for some people. I can't get it to work for me. The problem is the PACE Anti-Piracy program integrated with the software. You need a Response to a question to access the software, which I got from GVOX. After I enter the response, my computer simply reboots. If anyone knows how to get Encore version 4.2.1 to work in WindowxXP I would be ever so grateful. Encore version 4.5 is the same as 4.2.1 except it is supposed to work with WindowsXP and it has this anti-piracy program built into it.

I have sent a note to Gvox and they told me that Encore v4.2 is not compatible with windows XP

How to convert MIDI file to .mus files

recording vocals using midi sequencers

i am using cakewalk but am new to midi sequencing can anyone tell me if it is ok to record using a conventional sm 58 mic for vocals rather than pc mic and are there any do's & dont's ?

use the best mic u have. sm sounds like it. pc mics are total rubbish. if u can get a mic lead with 1/4 jack for soundcard better than using an adaptor jack. use a pre-amp if u have one for low noise - if no pre amp your soundcard will boost signal + this may introduce noise. avoid clipping (look at rec image in sequencer make sure no flat spots at top/bottom of file image)

When i record cd's, and play them on my stereo the music fades in and out continuously. Some songs are ok, but most just fade in and out. Anyone have any suggestions

SB plat 5.1/electribe er-1/cubase

HAving trouble getting my er-1 to sound through cubase.....at best I get it triggering GM drum sounds. Anyone care to fill me in on the settings I should be using for SB Plat 5.1/cubase, i.e midi settings etc.

I was pretty savvy a few years back in regards to arranging multiple track instrumentation using Roland's JV80/midi connection with software sequencer programs but was forced to sell the keys about 3 years ago due to finanical hardship. My question is: Is there a soft-synth (stand-alone) software program that will enable your standard PC keyboard to transcend itself into a musical virtual piano. I came across a program inclined for little children to learn how to play piano and aside from it's rinky dink child-like antics and limitations, it basically was almost capable of doing the job. However, I've looked and looked, and have not been successful in finding an actual virtual piano/synth that will allow me to once again pound on those ivory keys....well in this case, plastic buttons, the ones you find on a standard PC keyboard. I'd prefer something that is a stand-alone application or at least something that is adaptable to multiple types of sequencing software programs. Sorry I'm so long-winded but hopefully there's a guru or two out there who wouldn't mind humoring me and filling me in on a good virtual soft-synth (oh, and freeware if possible - inexpensive shareware is ok too!).

Really just want to remix songs from the radio charts. Speed / slow the tempo with out affecting vocals, lengthen & add sampled beats.

How to make a correct AUDIO+DATA CD ?

Well, here's my problem:

I use Nero (5.5) and when i record Audio+Data Mixed CD's Nero records the DATA to track 1.
So when i play the CD-Audio on any hi-fi, track 1 is only X minutes of silence and the music starts on track 2.

How do i make Nero record to the track 0 ?
I didn't use the "Finalize CD" (no further wirting possible) option, could be that?

Nero will burn the tracks onto a CD, but you'll need something like Cool Edit to record the tracks from vinyl in the first place. There are plenty of audio recording packages in the software section.

Hi everyone,

Just got a UM-4 but the manual doesn't really explain things very clearly (ie. what to select in the MIDI Properties in Multimedia (Control Panel in Windows). Also, can't figure out how to set it up with more than one IN and one OUT in either Cakewalk 9 nor Logic Audio Plat 4.6. Please assist!

Further info that may be important - all MIDI INs and OUTs are taken up with 4 different pieces of equipment.

Run MMJB. Click Options/Recorder/settings
At the bottom you will see the 'Recording Source' dropdown. Change the setting to 'System Mixer'.
Click the Advanced button.
In the 'Autosong detect frame' click to place a check mark in the activate option box. The 'Gap Length and Gap Level tells MMJB when to save the song. This means that if the volume falls below 10% and remains that way for 2000 milliseconds (2 secs) to save that record and wait for the vol to rise signaling the start of a new rec. My preferences are 'Gap Level'=5 and 'Gap Len'=1500.
Click Ok and Ok again and the dialog box will close.
Now click the red record button. Then press the record button on the recorder when it pop's up. Now MMJB is monitoring your mixer and will automatically start when you play any sound file, including midi's. You do need to check the volume setting a time or two to make sure you are getting a clean recording.

Making slide shows on VHS tapes with music

I am familiar with making slide shows with music using Cd Creator. I would like to know if there is equipment or a program that you can use to transfer these CD's to VHS tapes to play on the television set instead of playing the CD's on the computer. Please somebody tell me if this is possible.

You need a video crd with a TV output or one of the external VGA to TV converters.
