Vcd Format

Gigasampler - MFC42.DLL

Been trying to load & run Gigasampler but on the initial diagnostic chech always get the error message of a page fault in MFC42.dll. Tried on Win98 and Me and with different versions of the DLL. Contacted Yamaha to see if related to XG1000 card but it appears not. Thing is I have successfully loaded and used the prog on an old P233MMX but just cannot get it working with my current P3 1gHz. Anybody any ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated on this frustrating problem.

Get sonic foundries acid. It will record loops and allow you to fit them together at any tempo. If you actually want to sample individual drum hits and arrange them into new loops using midi or drag and drop audio editing then you may want some sort of all around audio andm midi program like sonar, cubase, or logic. Steinbergs recyle is also handy as it greatly helps in cutting loops into individual hits, if you want to sample from vinyl or whatever tha hell you want. For sampling it depends, if you use cubase Id suggest halion, if you use logic then I'd suggest the exs 24, if sonar then I dont know on cakewalks site I'd assume there are options listed.

It seems like everyone has this problem and no one has the answer.
It has to do with your soundcard and it's drivers. The driver file is probably missing or corrupted.
You just need to install/reinstall your soundcard driver. Go under "Add New Hardware" and follow the steps for Troubleshoot existing hardware.
Even if you don't have the disk or no the type, the Windows Update should find a suitable driver for you.

Hi all,

Thought I'd post how I fixed this issue on my computer:

I had re-installed xp from scratch and couldn't play my MP3's because of this error as well.

I didn't want to mess with my system.ini file like someone had mentioned, so I tried re-installing my drivers for my on-board sound card, and it's working now, no other messing around.

My advice would be if you recently re-installed you operating system, make sure you install your drivers for your soundcard, and if you still are having the problem, maybe try different drivers/updated ones or the original off the cd that came with the sound card :)

Hope this helps some of you.

By any chance have you checked that the bios even has a sound card present? I had a similar problem and had to go into the computer bios and turn on my sound card. Somehow it had got turned off and as a result didn't exist. Plays just fine now.

OK, this is getting crazy now, does anyone have an answer? I upgraded from 98 (no problems with MMJB) to Win XP, and all of a sudden I cannot play MP3 files. I am a programmer by profession for 6 yrs, and I'm totally out of ideas, short of going through all the audio codec crap to try to solve this -- but this is gonna be painful. Man, what a pain in the keester. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

I had this problem too. I am fighting with it again but forgot how i fixed it the last time. I found that mp3s play with windows media player. I also noticed that all sounds for windows themes do not work also. It seems as though windows itself cant direct the wav's to the proper player or codec or something. All i remember that last time i fixed the problem i did a full reload and it worked fine untill i started installing software. After the problem started again i uninstalled something (duh thats what i forget) maby real player or something, and everything worked fine again. Now after about a year the problem is back and im scratching my head again. somthing in the registry, associations or something must be corrupt. good luck and let me know how to fix it again

Hey, i just had this problem, but it occured directly after uninstalling mIRC. i literally did nothing else. Does this help? I think i'm going to re-install and see what happens.

I don't know how to fix it, but i can give you some background info which may help illuminate it.
I run win2K with terminal svcs, MMJB with a SB live value. It works fine and doesnt error. When I try to log into it with terminal svcs from my laptop via the network, and try to play a song in MMJB, it gives this error on the laptop. MMJB does not respond properly.
the laptop does not have a sound capability.
thats what i've got so far.

you use to write to the disks in the first place?

Note that if the disks are CD-R and CD-RW, then there's nothing you can do once they've been written to.

I am using Windows 2000 Prof with Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and a Sony cd-rw CRX140E.

During the recording phase my computer restarts without warning. Easy CD Creator is no longer running when my computer reboots and the project is ruined.

On each occasion this happens at a different point in the recording process and I have tried using different playlists to rule out problem files.

Grampa? Is that you? Stop screwing around! I'm trying to get stuff done here!

Someone PLEASE help before take a bat to my system. I would REALLY appriciate your advice.

As I recall, in Windows 2000 Pro, if your system is undergoing a long sesion (and I don't know the exact length of time here) of high intensity usage, the OS thinks that you have a VIRUS, and will reboot to kill any volatile programs that are running.

Unfortunately, these can be the programs that we really want to be running that just jhappen to take up a lot of system resources. I believe the fix for this can be found on the Microsoft website, now that you have an idea of what could be happening.

Converting casette tapes to the cpu???

Does anyone know how I can convert regular casette tapes to a regular PC. I need to know what equipment to use and how to go about doing this?? Can someone help me out??

You'll need to buy a cord from someplace like radioshack. It needs to have a male-ended heaphone jack on one side, and either the same on the other end, or the other end can have RCA jacks. It depends what you'll be recording from. Plug the male-end into your soundcard into the INPUT jack, or MIC jack if there's no input. The other end of the cord plug into your tape player. (Either into the RCA outputs on the back, or into the headphone jack depending on what cable you purchased. Make sure the volume on your tape player isn't turned too high.) Then you'll need a capturing software. I like Audacity 'cause it's free and easy. It can edit stuff pretty easily too. Once it's captured, save it in whatever format you'd like. (MP3, Wav, etc.) Then just burn it like a normal CD, if that's your plan. Good luck.
