Re: Burning CDG's - What software do I require?
Is there any software like this available for Macintosh?
: Hey you'll need a CD-Burner and a program such as
: <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/DART_KaraokeCDG/">DART Karaoke Studio CD+G</a>
: : I have an extensive library as a KJ. My original library was stolen last year, and I purchased another KJ's business along with his library. I would like to make quality copies of my library to protect them from loss. What software (and hardware) do I require?
Error w/ My Sony CD-R Drive... PLEASE HELP!!
I have a Sony Spressa USB CD-RW external drive, the CRX100E/X2 4x/4x/6x model. It has been working fine for me, and I use Sony CD Extreme to record and store files. All of a sudden, I've been getting this error message: Sector 16-Command E1 sense 05 ASC:24 ASCQ:00 whenever I'm recording. I tried on a different computer, and got the same result. And it's not the CD, because I've tried various blank CDs and get the same error? What the Heck is going on here? Sony's response is, "We can tell you, but it will cost you $19.95." Forget them! If anyone has any idea what the problem is, please let me know. I'd GREATLY appreciate it, thanks!
Unreliable...
It's only more recently that CDRW's are becoming reliable. My Yamaha 4416 is the most unreliable piece of hardware I have ever bought. I have always got 2 CD's to work out of three and more recently, 1 of 2. I hardly use it any more as I think the laser is worn out.
It's sounds like yours is a tad defunct in the same way as mine therefore you maybe looking at a new machine.
I'm not saying that it's unreasonable that Sony are asking £20 to look at it although I think people that buy Sony products should generally know better. Sony make some nice products but are an awful company when it comes to allowing choice within their chosen market. A leaf out of Microsofts book have they taken... nuff said..

Music burning software
Hi,
I'm looking for a (preferably free) program that lets you burn tracks (in wav/mp3 format) with absolutely no delay between them or even a crossfade function. The tight people @ adaptec bundled a version of ECD Creator without these features. Please help, I'd really appreciate it.
Macintosh...
If yu have a Mac, download the free iTunes. It will do it if you have a compatible CD burner. The compatible list is quite big now so the chances are you do. You can set the gap times although you would have to go for Adaptec's JAM for the cross fade stuff...
Good Luck
Steve...
Re: Music burning software
Check out these programs. If you what to burn a CD without gaps you need to use "DAO" Disc at Once.

connecting a Guitar to a PC--instructions, pls
I have an acoustic guitar with a transducer attached inside. Would like instructions on hooking it up to a PC so that I can "write" my lead sheets on the computer. I am somewhat technically inclined, so instructions are basically what I need.
DI Box
You could do worse than buy yourself a DI box from your local music shop. They aren't terribly expensive although I recommend going for a fully active DI box. This will isolate and balance the guitar signal so you can input in to a line level device and minimise loss of quality. If you stick your guitar straight into the computer, you will regret it.... you have been warned..!

analysing frequencies
I am looking for some simple music software that will enable me to analyse a piece of music, for example a WAVE file. What I want to do is to select a specific time in the song and analyze the frequencies, hopefully being able to see harmonics, hisses or feedback, etc. for instrutive purposes. What software should I use???
Audio Editor...
Audio editors are great for this sort of thing. You get to analyse and zoom in on the track, represented by a graphical representation of the Wave.
There are a bunch around depending on your computer platform. This site has a bunch you can try out. Check the file area...

bpm
is there any mac software that automatically counts bpm?
thanks for any info,
cindy in indy
Peak...
I use the audio editor Bias Peak and that will guess the tempo for any given highlighted area. It's a relatively expensive program though for just guessing tempo. There is more than likely something in the file area here. Maybe under Audio editors as editors like to try and do everything...

MP3 editing software
Hello,
What software can I use to edit mp3s?
thanks!
Re: MP3 editing software
: Hello,
: What software can I use to edit mp3s?
: thanks!
I use a program called Blaze Audio RipEditBurn. I can rip CDs, edit wave and MP3 files, and burn CDs- it's pretty handy to be able to do all those things from one program. I think the URL is www.blazeaudio.com.
If you get it, check out their "normalize" function. I really like being able to match the volumes on all of the tracks that I put on a CD.
Re: MP3 editing software
You can't edit MP3 files. Convert them to WAV first, edit that, then convert back to MP3. You won't loose any quality in the process

MID File

Music to New NSync Song
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get the music to NSync's new song "Pop"
need advice for student use
Does anyone out there know of a software that will help me. My students are doing projects with language arts and music. We need to take prerecorded MP3 or wave files and remove the vocals. Is there a program that will do this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
As per Andy P....
A few companies have tried to make a karaoke application that will do this but it only works badly, if your lucky...!
Vocals are rarely dry from ambient Fx and are often swamped by centralised instruments. You could look in the Karaoke section of this sites file download area and try one for yourself. Prepare to be disappointed..!
Good Luck
Steve...
Re: need advice for student use
Unfortunately, what you require is very difficult, since there is no separate vocal track you can remove. If you go by stereo position, you'll remove any instruments playing in the same position, and most vocals don't stay in the same place all the time. What you need are CD's designed for karaoke machines. Alternatively, visit http://www.mp3karaoke.com/

Update on Segregatin Sounds from CD tracks
thanks Tony M for replying to my post orginally.
i was just wondering how recording studios and dance artists sample sounds from seventies disco tunes and seamlessly loop them into tracks. I know thyere is software to remove the vocals, but any A+R folks there who can help me with this query??? I know you can get accapella records, with plain vocals on them, and similarly instrumental versions of tunes, but i need to know, surely there is a method or technique which can be employed by somebody like myself, who is just playing around at home with their computer!
help me
i lost my ensoniq asr10 os disk.can anyone help me?
reducing echo in sound file
Is there any software that will reduce the echo in sound files?
I've tried Sound Forge, messing with EQ's, but this didn't really do the trick.
If sound forge can do it, please let me know.
Cheers
Hmmmmm.....
I would be interested if there was any software out there that could do something like this but I would also be very very suprised. I am picturing a vocal within a song with an echo on the vocal. To remove ONLY the echo from the vocal would involve being able to remove some of the vocal bandwidth but not the dry vocal itself... This is too much to ask of any engineer or any software application.
Good Luck

But what if it's just a vocal? I did an interview in a small, hollow room with wood floors and the vocal came out horrible. I had no other choice of places to do this.
Any ideas if it's just vocal?

Ah, it looks like I've found the right discussion board for help! I recorded using realjukebox and need to convert it to .midi so I can upload it onto my website... help?
Thanks so much!

Re: Real Audio to mp3 converter
Sorry to upset you but you can't covert any .wav .ra .mp3 or any audio file to midi (.mid) as midi is a set of musical data i.e. note length, volume etc. not audio data.
Re: Real Audio to mp3 converter
Hope the prog I've sent you helps. ;-)

Re: Need a software
It's impossible. MIDI is made up of a number of individual tracks which relate to individual instrument.
This information simply doesn't exist in a WAV file and there's no way to create it.

HOWTO download restricted real video files ?
Is there any program that would allow to save some
real video content from the net that the owners of that
content prevent us from doing so ?
20th Century Music Midi
I really wish Publishers, and I mean the OLD guys
(Boosey & Hawkes, Shirmer's, etc)would get their
libraries midied. It would be wonderful to have
works available from the 20th Century such as
Stravinsky, Bartok, Schoenberg, Prokofiev, Hindemith.
Sure, you can buy the score, but I don't want to have
to decipher the score, cut it up or resort to page
flipping just to read the bass part.
Midi's offer a way (obviously) to get to just that
part, so you can play along with the work privately.
I know this might be a niche market, but all the
non-copyrighted Classical is available now
(see Classical MIDI Archives at http://www.prs.net/midi.html
Here would be an opportunity in the Napster-To-Come
style of fee for service to be applied (Hello Hitsquad).
Anyone interested in learning how this music operates
from the now last century would be able to learn these
techniques quicker, especially in the midi context.
Thanks
Bill
Midi search....
