May be you have composed your track in Cakewalk in MIDI format. But the Soundforge is basically an Audio sampliong software. So the format of both software are different.

it is a Fortmedia FM801 - this is what it has printed on it ...
i do not have the Software Driver for my sound
card and i need to re-install it again ...

Using the ESI2000 sampler with Windows2000

I am having problems installing the drivers for ESI2000. Everytime Windows 2000 boots up, it detects the sampler but I don't know what type of driver to use. Can anyone help?

Hello! I am not sure about specifics to your OS (2k) However this is how Emu samplers work with other Plug'n'play OS (Eg 98/ME Mac as well..etc) i presume you are using scsi with your sampler this is why plug'n'play detects the device when you boot your system with the sampler on! There isn't a driver with the Emu samplers unless you upgrade the OS to 4.1 (And use Eoslink!!) This is what to do to get it rockin,, 1) Turn on sampler, 2) Boot your Pc 3) When windows boots it detects your scsi device, 4) When prompted for the driver just keep hitting cancel or Esc (About 8 times i think) after doing this windows stops looking for your device, however when you look in your scsi application (EG Recycle/SoundForge/Wavelab) you can still see your emu, and you can setup your sampler scsidump config cos when you look down the scsi device list you will see your Emu, just choose that and you can send/recieve samples to your Emu at hyper-speed instead of midisampledump (Sloww!!)Hope this helps, Can mail me if you still can't get it going, Stay gold JOy and Thee Doves @ JOyranch..x

help! audio recording problem

I'm using Goldwave v4.01 to record from a minidisc. I can no longer hear the music when it's recording - only when I play it back (it has captured the recording). I've checked Windows volume settings for playback - nothing's muted, everything has top volume. Any suggestions? thanks

HI!Im sure glad i found your website.I am a musician,and i am interested in setting myself up with
the free software on this site.But im trying to do so on a bugget.I play guitar and sing,i have many origanals and am dying to record them on my PC.Can you help me set myself up with the right software.I would like to be a one man band cause i cant rely on the guys i play with.Maybe a drum machine,bass machine and a good recording software that is user friendley.I am new to recording on a pc, on a real mixer is my expieriance.If there is free ware that i can use as much as i want for as long as i want please help me.

Software Search

I am looking for a simple software package that will do two things:

1. Tempo shift MP3 files without altering pitch. I've found several products that will do this.

2. Rip clips from MP3 files and save them to a different file.

3. Able to loop playback of an MP3 file.

Basically, I am a guitarist and software with these features would make it easier to learn some of the more complex riffs on songs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a programm like a player to play in real time
on the keyboard a style of PSR and record it by tracks
into Cakewalk
The root is I have no Yamaha 740 (hardware) but
do need to work with psr styles

I purchased this software last weekend and I have hooked my keyboard up with the cables and I am not able to make anything happen with this software other than playing the music files included with the program on my soundcard. i have read the little bit of instructions that came with it and it is over my head. O.K. is the keyboard hooked up through Midi or audio inputs. You must find the Windows mixer on your computer and select the right input. You should see a little speaker icon at the bottom of your screen. Click on this.Top left corner select options-properties.Where it says adjust volume switch from playback to recording.Click OK. Now select line in or MIDI or whatever input you plugged the keyboard into. Hope this works for you.

email me and i will tell you exactly hoew to set up, first hand, sometimes when you set up a keyboard to cakewalk, you have to "reboot the keyboard", try that while its all hooked up just turn kb off then on again. or set up everything cakewalk, keyboards etc..... then go grab a midi file from www.exrock.com, hes a friend, then let cakewalk bring it up, press play, you will hear it. if you hear your generic sound card sound go internally to the devices for audio set up then play, dont forget to reboot the board.

The easist way I have found is to download Modplug Tracker from www.modplug.com. All you have to do is goto File/Open and select your .mid file. Then goto File/Save as Wave and select the options you want. It will even normalize it for you. You dont have to record anything, it converts it! Oh and it is FREE

I mean that for example I want a specific song from any audio_cd(for example Marc Antony) without hearing any voice and then I want to sing the song. Is it possible that cool edit cut the voice at the bakground. If it is so, which file type it is being saved(midi or etc..)

Hey Man, Play around with the filters in the transform section of Cool Edit and you can probably isolate the vocals and remove or greatly cut them, there are also some DirectX programs that can do this from inside Cool Edit,look at the plugins section of this website. After you perform this operation you just save the file as a Wav file.

help--DAT tape to iMac??

hi--i urgently need to transfer a DAT tape to my hard drive and am clueless...i got a y cable to plug the dat player to my imac but don't know where to go from here. i need to save the sound on the tape as a aiff (?) or .wav file...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

well if you just want a .aiff or ,wav format of the tape, you can download from this site a program that will just record... just browsw under "multitrackers" , specifically macintosh OS ones... however, if you want to edit you will need a fairly decent multitracker for Mac OS, I recommend pro Tools FREE if your hardware will support it. Wav Maker

I am trying to "Normalize" a set of individual .wav files so that they don't all have "TV Commercial Syndrome". Currently, they all play at different volume levels and it becomes quite annoying. I thought that if I could get my hands on something like the Wav Maker that Compaq offers, I might be able to set them all at the same "Peak" level or possibly merge them together, "Normalize" them and break them apart again.
