Clavinova Disks Wanted

i just bought a yamaha clavinova second hand (CVP92). i would like to get my hands on some extra pop/orchestra disks but dont really wanna pay £25 a time from yamaha or musicsoft etc. is there a way of doing it for free or anyone got any they dont want etc.

Soft synth 909/808 drum machine

Attack VST made by Waldorf is an excellent drum machine for cubase vst. It has 808 and 909 sounds. Best vst analog modeling drum machine.

For the best 808, 909 sounds use a VST drum sampler then search on the net for 808, 909 samples.
There's plenty out there and it's the best way to get the sound of the real thing.

Look how recording changed from the 60s where bands were lucky if they used a 4 track, to overblown pompous sessions in the eighties where 128 tracks might be used. Sure, more tracks allow more options creatively but a studio is just a tool. If it's used poorly, it's going to give poor results.

Drum Sequencer capable of 3/4 time?

Hey everyone... I really need a drum sequencer thats capable of time signatures other than 4/4 time. Also, I't can't be midi based... I have drum samples I recorded from a friend and They sound perfect. My midi drums sound good, but not as good as that. So if anyone can help me out... thanks

As for multi-tracks, you should check out the <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/MULTITRACK_RECORDING/">software section</a>. ProTools is about the best thing you can get.

i am a beginner in DSP and need someone(s) to ask a
million questions.
Like why can't i get any decent tech support
from steinberg.

and what is the best wave editing/multitracking
software.
i hope it isn't wavetable and cubasis

and what is a good investment to get my system up for
HD recording 8 track (for openers)
my computer is good enough (PIII/700 transcend asl3 mainbord)

except i don't have scsi hd
just ata66 7200 main and removable HDDs.

i am not into going scuzzy.

and what is a good midi keyboard?
i will use it to lay perc and keyboard
over stuff the band has recorded analog and i've put on the hd,
and maybe also to control my digtech harmoniser and
bass pod, and maybe other effects on my vocals out
live, and also use it as a musical instrument too.

my band is vintage dudes playing vintage guitars.

no synths not much DSP (except me)

i noticed while trying to get cubasis working a little, and
manging to import on of our WAV's into it and getting a click track going,
that our tempos seem to fluctuate, and this
will make it tough to edit and patch. what should i
bring to practice to count bpm and cue the band?
changes in tempo are natural, and except for this
editing issue not a problem otherwise. tempo changes
are another element that can be used to control
dynamics.

we are loud and headphones are for the studio only.
i do not want to obsess over bpm.

how can i play back our live stuff slower so i can
make surgical edits.

i use a fostex x-14 which although rudimentary only
able to record a track at a time
isn't bad at all for grabbing pratices and trying to
enhance, like with keyboard and percusion accents.
and when it breaks, i fix it.

but i got to gear up a bit to take it to the next
level.

there is a a keyboard app that came with the platinum
card, but i don't know how to control it, like
get pitch bend, or select which octave i'm in.

i have a platinum card and all the bundled apps seem
to be teasers.

last week we spent twelve hours in a project studio
using o1v mixer and sound forge

and the engineer 'lost' all the tracks.

i think it was sound forge, i know it was mac

too bad because it was sounding very very large.

but he had some HD issue, and for now all is lost.

I am a P III 600 MH 128 RAM with SB LIVE! Sound Card. My recording sistem is Roland VS-1880 Digital Studio+XP-80 music workstation.
I work with Cubase VST 24 in link with these instruments.
The mastering programs is Wavelab 3.0 , Sound Forge 5.0. ,Cool Edit Pro 1.11,and many Directx plugins.

can i ever get these things to sound anywhere in the realm of mp3s. I have the conversions down but is their any tips for sound quality. They are scratchy, skippy and not as loud as mp3s. the storage in my mp3 player doubles my memory but it is not worth it if the sound quality is this shitty. can anyone offer any advice?

It depends on how good you are as a muso. I play drums and have no problems with beats, but I'm not a violinist. So I grab samples!

I usually use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/FruityLoops_win95/">FruityLoops</a> and <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AcidMusicDemo/">Acid</a>. They work well together.

Lots of programs do this.I like music match 4.0 or higher.you can download a demo that works for a few days. convert mp3 to wav.and back again,save song info,create playlist,plays cds and mp3s/wavs. (easy to use)

mid-aged crises! How to "capture" streaming to file

I have down'oaded tons of "oldies" and placed them on CDs that I burned at home. However, I like some foreign music not available in the States. How can I "capture" streaming LPs or CDs from music played on-line to my hard disk, thus allowing me to place these songs on my home-made CDs? I have REal Jukebox (basic) and the built-in Windows Media Player that I listen to these foreign radio songs on. Can anybody help me? What if it's a full album all under one "playlist" name? thanks

best software for vocals?

i'm looking for the best software for vocals that have the best effects. must be compatable with acid pro 2.0
i've tried to use the effects on acid pro for my vocals and it sounds nasty. my mic is directly plugged into my computer mic input, is that the way to even do it. the vocals just sound bad. thanks for any help.....

ACCURATE midi to notation

I'm looking for a GOOD notation program that converts notation to midi and ACCURATELY converts midi to notation. I've found that many fail the following test:
1)write something in notation, call it xyz1not
2)convert it to midi, save it as xyz2midi
3)close the notation program
4)restart the notation program and open (import) xyz2midi
5)convert it to notation, call it xyz3not, and compare with xyz1not.

Reason for step 3) to circumvent cheating by saving and redisplaying the original notation file.

I was suprised to see programs I has trusted fail this test. I look forward to your comments.

Hi there,

I've just written the melody stave (which is set to Flute) for a tune I came up with. Now I'm trying to record the drum stave. Everytime I hit a note on my keyboard during recording, the note appears on the drum stave but the sound which comes out of the speakers is not the drum sound but the flute. I tried this on my friend's PC which has Cakewalk Pro Audio installed and the drums could be heard as I played my keyboard.

Is there a way for me to hear the drums while recording from my electronic keyboard?
