I use Streambox Ripper to do the conversion. Sometimes .ram won't convert to MP3, but if you set it anything less than 44100Hps, it will do just fine.

You can always use a real audio file if your web host is setup for it (fortune city, angelfire, etc). Or you can make a mp3.com page. I'd suggest making a mp3.com page simply for the fact that you get paid each time someone plays your song, plus you can sell cds.

hi all. I'm new to the whole deal of computer recording. I have an old roland kr-33 keyboard and am doing some recording on cakewalk. things are fine, except that I can't get the keyboard foot pedal to work in MIDI.
If someone has any info or advice, please respond with SIMPLE language.

Drum sounds

Anyone know where I can download some "real" sounding live drums from. I am trying to make guitar-pop using Cubase VST, but don't like any of the standard drums. Samples in WAV from will be ok as long as I know the BPM. Is there any way of downloading drum sounds indiviidually and then calling them up as samples ony my MIDI keyboard in Cubase (eg. Bass Drum on one key, Snare on another)???

This is quite new to me ... any help would be appreciated.

looking for a music writing program with realistic instruments

i'm about to start writing my own music with my computer and piano. i really don't like the sound of midi music, and am looking for a program that will write out the music as i play it, and one that has realistic sounding instruments. where a violin sounds like a violin, etc. found one program called 'midi workshop' which looks like it has a lot of what i'm looking for, but i don't wanna have the midi sound. my keyboard has realistic sounding instruments, but i'm not sure if this program is going to make it sound to 'unreal'.....so i haven't opened the box! if i can find one that will let me play, record, and hear realistic sounding instruments, i'd rather trade the program i have in for the one i want. can anyone help me find what i'm looking for? i'd greatly appreciate it. ~thanks in advance

midi makes no sound...

Hi,
Midi makes no actual sound, it just sends signals from the instrument control to the sound module and sequencer. All the sounds come from a synth engine wich finds an amplifier or recording device via audio outputs.

If you want the best sound quality for grand piano's, trumpets, violins etc. Id reccomend gigastudio by nemesis. Its what all the composers are using now to score films. Why? because gigasampler has pioneered a new technology that involves streaming from the hard disk.

Most synths play samples of instruments. A sample is a snapshot of the original sound. So while with most samples were talking 9mb at most, with gigasampler you can use 1 gb. samples becasue instead of loading the sample into ram it uses the streaming technology to run it off the hard drive.
Before this many composers would have racks with dozens of samplers. Now composers such as Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer simply use gigastudio. It will require its own dedicated pc though...

I think for notation programs like finale and sibilius would be helpful. And, for a sequencer theres logic audio, cubase, and cakewalk. If your a serious composer consider logic audio.

using Cubasis on a HP Pavillion 7880

Sorry I know nothing about computers.

I have just purchased the above pc and I have Cubasis VST and a Steinberg USB midi interface. Trouble is I dont seem to have the right port (available) on the PC to connect it. Do I need a piece of hardware or am I just stupid.

I can't help you with Windat i'm afraid as I use a Mac. I will say though that there are tons of programs on this site (file area link near the top of this page...!) that will do what you are trying to do... Go take a look

Midisoft Desktop Sheet Music 2.0

Since the demise of Midisoft's site, I am unable to update my version of Sheet Music 2.0 to 2.05. I had the update file at one time, but must have erased it. In moving the program to another computer I would like to get a copy of that update once again. If you can be of help. Thanks

MP3 Mixer

I've downloaded every MP3 mixer I can find and still can't find what I'm looking for. The BPM-Studio I think would be perfect for me but it is a little pricey. I would like simply two MP3 players with a mixer in the middle. Two playlists that can be fed right from Explorer just like Winamp. Any suggestions? I don't like the mixers that you have to import music into. Takes too long and the lists usually aren't catagorized like I like them. Thanks!

Hi,
Im not to sure that rtas plugs work with the free version. I know digidesign put out an special version of d-verb that does . To make a test find some demo's and download them.

To get the plug in to work you must go the the dae folder in the system folder. In there is a plug ins folder where the plug in is placed

Rtas I do beleive works with pro tools l.e., but save for the special d-verb im not sure about pt free.

lpripper versions 2.3 - 3.0

You can no longer register these versions of lpripper
to aquire the registration code. You must register the latest and more expensive version to receive the registration code. So those sites that are still offering the ver2.3&3.0 with a registration cost of $20.00, Are offering worthless versions. I tried to purchase the registration code and was told it was no longer availible for these versions.

Easy CD uses both WAV's & MP3's to make audio files. No conversion is neceassary (at least on my version.)

Oh lord! It seems like I'm wasting my time! I have an omega zip drive. a have Winamp, I have napter, and I have Adaptec's 'Easy C.D. Creator'-all this is on a hp pavilion. I can't figure out how to burn the down loaded songs. It was set up before by someone who is not here now and now there are problems. How can I put the mp3 or wav files (or whatever they are)into a folder that with show up when I pull it up on the easy cd creator? When I save a file to my "convert" folder and then try to pull it up in the 'easy cd creator' program there is nothing there! I know a change must occur with the files, how do I do that!When I click on the icon for the saved music in my "convert" folder it just plays the music through winamp, it doesn't convert! Please HELP me before I waste another 36 hours of my life to no avail!

Recommendations Requested

I'd like suggestions for software to do two things to mp3 or wav files:

1. Re-equalize old recordings (I'd like to increase the treble and bass and cut the midrange)

2. Change the speed of some live recordings which are slightly out of tune so that they will be in tune.

Audio editors...

Most if not all Audio Editors will provide you with the tools to do what you want. No computer platform specified so no specific software to recommend.

The audio editor should provide "Time Stretching" which will change the tempo of the playback without changing the pitch. "Pitch Changing" will change the pitch without changing the tempo of the playback. Choose your weapon.

You should be able to use application resident pluggins to Eq the wave file, it's common practise on almost all editors.

for plug ins if you know the math.

Need name of song. . .

I would really like to know the name of the song that was included with the Gravis Ultrasound card. The sone in paticular is the song that is on the demostration that comes with the CD; the demo that compares a normal synth with the Ultrasound card. I remember the backround being a blue tunnel like shape. If you could, please e-mail me. Thanks.

Need help recording from turntable/mixer to PowerBook

I'm running an RCA to 1/8" mini connection my mixer to my Powerbook.
I'm getting sound, the only problem is that there is a 1/2"
second delay from the mixer to the computer (If I stop the record, sound continues
to come out of the computers speakers. This makes
scratching and juggles impossible. Any suggestion?
Am I doing something wrong?
