Preferably 24dB/octave set to 300hz or higher. Keep the bottom from muddying into the other tracks. Once the low end is gone, you have all this room to boost the vocals without going over 0dB (clipping). Then the vocals can get very in-the-face.

first of all: wait with the vocals 'till the
final mix. Panning is also very important!.
When all your music is done (compression etc.),
then you put the vocals on top.

I am starting to write dance tracks in styles of trance (HARD, ACID & PSY), breaks, techno, ETC...and generally wish to steer away from the cheesy side of the market.

CAN ANY ONE RECCOMMMEND GOOD SAMPLE PROGRAMS, EQUIPMENT, DEVICES, AND REALISTICALLY SOUNDING NOISE PROGRAMS TO PURCHASE.

Need for software to read the Roland G 1000 styles files

I need a software under Windows 98 that can read the Roland G 1000 and Roland VA 7 styles Files with extension .sth which can convert these files to midifiles and other arranger workstation machines like Gem or something else

Muon Tau (VST2 Instrument)

slap a little distortion on it (like BJ Overdrive set to 99 drive) and a slow LFO Cutoff variation (courtesy of Transmitter), and this thing gets really badass really fast.

Get your breaks from josh daniels. Look him up. He has some really great ones. Use hammerhead to create your break variations:

Use an audio editor to make sure you have perfect loops, and create a user bank. Load it into Hammerhead, and set a breakbeat playing. Trigger it again on beat 11. Print to wav. Trigger again on beat 7. Print it. Remove beat 11 trigger. Print it. Remove 7. Add 3. Print it. Include BPM in filename printed to.

Note that this is an easy way of retriggering loops with gating (shutting off whatever was playing) that doesn't work in some midi controlled samplers (Loopazoid), while still providing automatic beat matching.

hey there if youre looking to rip it up on the dance floor here are my suggestions--
fruityloops- pretty cool, works alright, cheap , unprofessional name to make you feel even more like a novice.i will sell the code for fruity pro if any body is intersested. (cheap)
-reason- what can i say this looks, sounds great

and almost too expensive to be true. Id buy it if i never found my mainstay program.
which is _orion_ this is a wonderful application. the sound is flawless(even on a more modest machine)you can use any number of free vsts you can stack on each other and the arpeggiator in the pro version is to die for...

Rebirth file conversion

I have a copy of Rebirth and a music recording program. I want to send some of the loops to the music recording program but they are .rbs(rebirth) files and are not recognizable to the software. I was wondering how to change an .rbs file into a .wav file. If anyone knows of any software to do it i'd really appreciate it.

Digidesign "Digi ToolBox XP"

I'm curently looking into multitrack recording/playback for my home studio, preferably computer-based. An aquaintence suggested Digidesign's Pro Tools, but their website lists it as starting around $5,000. ouch. However, the Digi ToolBox XP is around $600, which I can fool myself into thinking I can afford.
The issues are these:
How MIDI compatable is this thing? The web-propaganda doesn't mention any MIDI inputs. am I going to have to buy a second, MIDI-only computer? And what's all this about S/PDIF? How compatable is all this with Mac OS 8.6?
Any advise you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

The Digi ToolBox XP comes with Pro Tools LE which is great for recording/editing audio but not the best for sequencing. Its not bad but not as good as Logic or Cubase. If your looking to mainly record audio then its great. You can run Logic on the same machine if need to for MIDI. The Tool Box comes with the audiomedia III card which has two analog inputs and two digital inputs (S/PDIF). As far as I know there are now problems with OS 8.6 Take a look at the www.digidesign.com and go to the support section and check out the users conference. The other product to check out is the Digi001 which is very cool. Also you can down load the free 8 track version to check it out. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/ProTools_mac/">Pro Tools Free</a>

MUSIC TRANSPOSITION SOFTWARE

speed/pitch increasing HP 7200i CD writer

Using a used HP 7200i writer in homebuilt (but stable) K6-2/266, 64mRAM, 6gigWDHDD. With all input media (wav,mp3) and all software (Adapted,MusicMatch); the result CD is very slightly faster in tempo and pitch than the original source; playing both at same time the burned CD "catches up" with the orig.source. Is 230W power supply too low, causing CDR drive to spin slow during burn? Please respond.

How do I create controller "streams" in Cubase 5?

I would like to create sweeps, fades and so on
using series of MIDI controllers from Cubase VST.
There are two places in the program that appear to
be meant for doing this:

- in the keyboard editor, there is an area below
the keyboard that usually is for velocity editing.
But you can change it to editing controllers too,
such as the Brightness controller.

- there is also the controller editor window.

My problem is, how do I *create* new controllers
to edit in any of these windows? Whatever tools I'm
using, nothing seems to happen.

Press <ALT> while you draw new curves.

The problem is that I have to record 2h of radio broadcast. No breaks are allowed.
Is some software capable to record 10 min. track and continue to record another track while converting first track from wav to mp3?

You do not need any other software to make an audio CD with MP3s. Nero will automatically decode the MP3s you select to be burned. They will be converted directly from MP3 format to audio CD format (.CDA)

Line input socket does not appear to work!

I am trying to record music on to my PC from the
line input socket on my soundblaster 16 pci card.
However I never seem to be able to hear the sound!
The card works correctly (ie. output to speakers ok)
and I have no conflicts.
Has anybody got any ideas?

Double click on the windows volume control icon. That opens the mixer window. make sure that the Line fader is up and the mute box is not checked.

cakewalk usage

I am new to the world of software music and it seems I encounter some very simple bugs that I can't solve. For instance, all I want to do is save certain midi files with either muted or archived tracks (I still want to see them but not here them). Every time that I modify the file, then save it and reload it, it always spits out the original file. Can somebody help me?

Nomad voice file conversion

Does anybody know how to convert the nvf voice files of Nomad II to mp3 or wav. The tech. support says that the original Nomad Manager could do that but this is not an option on the new software.
Alternatively, anybody knows where I can a copy of the origianl Noamd Manager?

i most recently had total system failure and needed
to reinstall my os, etc... i have tried to download
stuffit expander from cnet and i keep on getting the
dialogue box - "cannot open file because program used
to create it cannot be found". I thought i WAS
downloading the application! anyone know??
